How often should I use chain lubricants.. and WHICH LUBRICANT is the best for HORNET...
    Please suggest me..
    Thank you..
Don't fall for costly chain cleaner and lube.
Cleaning: Diesel is cheap and best, Kerosene if you want too much cleaning but make sure to use lube after kerosene.
Lube: Even discarded engine oil work as good as anything.

Best practice: Spay diesel and mild clean the chain using toothbrush. Clean bike and chain with jet water wash.
It will clean the chain. Then apply the lube after chain gets dry in couple of hours.

Generally clean and lube after 400Km. As, the lube is also a petroleum it evaporate with time, quickly in case of open chain like Hornet.
Just clean and lube a couple of times you will get an idea when to do it.

          Hi friend,
As a fellow Hornet rider, I think what anoopkumar0 told is right. Follow the steps, he said, in that order; it will be easy to clean. Mostly cleaning with kerosene/diesel and using any chain lube will remove the noise, if it is because of a dirty/dry chain. Also check the chain tension, as it needs to be adjusted every ~500 kms and maintain the tire pressure.
If you are using the bike once in a while, then it’s better to chain the lube the day before the ride, if possible; a mild cleaning using a cloth and a small amount of lube. The time and distance matters, also rain, dust etc.
One thing I found interesting is: I usually use Motul/Rolon chain lubes, which last a week (some 250-300 kms, depends, without noise). But the one my service center use, an oil type lube, is pretty good. Unless there is rain or I wash the bike, the chain continues to be silent; the max I kept the bike unwashed is 1 month (some 1000 kms). If the chain gets wet, then that ‘lube’ is not working. The same thing happened when one local workshop guy lubed the chain using some ‘oil’ after tightening the chain. I think it’s the SAE 80 or 90 gear oil which Honda manual mentions. I forgot to ask what it was, everytime ! (Don’t curse me). If anyone is using this gear oil, please comment on its effectiveness, cost, buying options etc.

Yes, gear oil works as good as chain lubes.
Also make sure chain is relaxed not too tight. It will lead to noise, vibration and chain loosing frequently. If you observe big bikes like Enfield, chain rests on frame.

Guys, help me out in getting some better chain sprocket set for hornet 2017, the stock one get loosen often. As hornet needs more gear shifts on low RPMs, the chain gets suffer
Also as a result of wear and loosening of chain the pull power of wheel in low RPMs get reduced

So I want some strong durable chain, if the chain fits proper without loose/tight the pick up in low RPM gets better , which more hornet users are concerned about

Does the z-ring chain an ideal option for hornet?

Yes, it's the best. Just use 90 /140 grade gear oil and be tension free.

Am using the same, it's the second one am using after the stock one of 2017 model... But comparatively 2018 model chain is good... But not best as of rest other motorcycles...
Let me try for the oil and observe for improvements

From past few days, I have been noticing strange issue in my hornet 2018 ( 8.6k kms).
After parking in hot sun for about an hour, It somewhat feels underpowered ( kind of choked up air filter) for 100-200 meters and later on it’s back to normal. Has anybody experienced this?

Ps- Engine oil ( Honda Throttle FS 10w30 ) , Air filter , Spark plug were replaced 500kms back.
                          Facing the same problem.
Engine oil is Honda throttle and spark plug is changed only few days ago.

Be happy and a reason will come along !

I think this issue is a common one in hornet, Me too facing it.

                              Don't use Rolon.
It's literally the same. (or even worse)
