It is the Air Filter box, its located on the shifter side for Honda's, sorry for the first post mistook this to be the Apache thread, edited and corrected.

There is usually a long tube under the motorcycle which is plugged, simply un-plug it let the residue drain completely, once done plug it.

Does the metal pipe coming out of engine acts for inhale or exhale??
Both though its more towards exhalation as during the power-stroke a bit of cylinder blow-by leaks past the rings into the crankcase.

Hi guys, I've a question: Can we reuse the drain bolt washer. I used a washer for the 2nd time and after that i observed, oil droplets below my bike .

So, today i changed the washer and i will observe for some days.

      Pic 1= damaged washer.

Pic 2= New washer.Click image for larger version

Make sure to not use excess force while tightening the drain bolt IIRC torque should not be more than 25nm, if you don't have a torque wrench simply make sure to tighten with only your fingers on the ratchet, no hard fisting and definitely no body weight.

Replacing the washer is the way to go, though personally on both machines that have covered 40k+ and 30k+ respectively I'm still using the stock washer.

A more experienced enthusiast suggested a means of refurbishing the old washers, by heating it under a flame and then dropping it in water, though I doubt we'd need to resort to that since spare availability isn't a concern.

Thanks, i also used the same washer for about 6 years in my brother's super splendor, but the part quality of honda is poor, only after 2nd use it becomes useless. Hero parts are definitely better than Honda one's [emoji16]

Also, the mechanics at Honda svc just use too much pressure to tighten the drain nut.
I've decided to diy , no more servicing at svc [emoji35][emoji35]

I doubt part quality has anything to do as at the end of the day a washer is just a washer, and for all we know the same supplier might be supplying to other manufacturers.

As for mechanics, I stopped giving my motorcycles to SCV's after they messed up my drain bolt in 2011.

Way too much aggression, luckily on the ZMA the drain bolt was made of soft aluminum else they would've messed up the crank case threads which is a headache to fix on a whole different level.

According to Honda, the drain plug washer can be used 2 times, i.e, one should change it every alternate oil change.

The "rings of deformation" are the ones that prevents oil from leaking. Using a new washer everytime is good as we need to apply less torque and can preserve the threads of the crankcase.

As Ashwin pointed out, some washers like Copper can be heated red hot and dropped in icy cold water to bring back their "softness" or the ability to get compressed and make a tight seal. Am not sure if aluminum can be treated this way.

Edit 1: Al can be annealed too.
Edit 2: No dropping in cold water, washer allowed to cool slowly !

Haven't tried it as the recommendation was for the Zen and I was fine as long as they used a bit of Anabond.

Yeah, my bike has become smooth, compared it with a cbr 150r ( cbr has more vibes than hornet, it's a well maintained cbr.) use mineral oil, i use Honda mineral oil and i am also at 5400 kilometers, my gearbox has also become smooth and slick.

I planned for a Weekend trip...

My first time solo long ride...

                      Bangalore -> masinagudi -> ooty
                      280km

Excited and bit nervous, as I got to cross some forest areas lone..

These office tensions/monetary problems/thoughts about career growth/future plan. They really exhaust me...

Wanted to escape from the reality for a while..

Hope I will clock atleast around 700km in two days and will share about the hornet's performance/capability during the ride...

I am using mineral oil only, planning to shift to synthetic after 7k if harder gear shifts still persist!!

                              Hello All,

I am getting a weird problem in my bike these days.
When parked in sunlight for minimum of 10 minutes and then starting the bike, the engine misfires for sometime and then after sometime it becomes normal.

I never faced such problem from past 24,000 km.

One thing happened few days back that after washing my bike I noticed the breather pipe detached, for this I changed the engine oil also but still the problem.

                              Please help.

This doesn't happen when I park bike in the shade.

                              Please help!!!

Generally misfire happens, if there is any problem related with carburettor ! Even sometimes the engine would switch off as because malfunctioning of carb.

So, a replacement of minor part like an adaptor / manifold will fix this issue. Check out with your ASC or a local mechanic.
