Re: Dealer asking whole amount
Asking full amount before even the launch is definitely not a practice. I gave the full amount only when I saw the bike in person and get all the price breakdown in writing. Also dealer asked for the full amount, only when he is delivering the bike by the end of the or next day. I had this experience with both my New Hornet and old Hunk.Originally posted by hisham2k9 View PostHello folks!
Just a little help needed. I am going to have my first bike. And it is Honda CB Hornet 160r. I have booked the bike by giving the booking amount even before the bike was launched in my city( Kozhikode, Kerala). Though launched, I haven't received my bike yet. The dealers are saying the bike hasn't come to their stock just yet.
Now the dealer is saying that bike would be in their stock by thursday (28-01-2016) and will be sold from Saturday ( 30-01-2016) onwards. Since I had requested the dealer to give it to me as soon as possible as I want to leave with the bike to a different state( Manipal, Karnataka), he asks me ( read nagging) to give him the full amount of the bike right now so that he could give me the bike on Saturday as soon as it arrives. Now my doubt is, is this really a practice? This is my first purchase of a first hand vehicle. I thought, only after seeing the bike and doing a PDI we sign any papers or give them the whole amount. Am I wrong? I really need some advice from knowledgeable people here. Thank you.
Ps: the dealer here is a reputed one, by reputed I mean, they have the biggest showroom of Honda here. And almost everyone in the city knows this particular showroom. And one more thing, the bikes here, we do get almost any bike in the commuter segment without any delay ( fz, fz fi, unicorn, fazer, even r15, all scooters), this bike has delay only because even the first lot hasn't reached the showroom(thats what I have gathered, I don't know if that helps in answering my query)
Once I inquired about Hunk-2016, expected soon to arrive, Hero dealer asked me to book with 5k for the ealry slot. Anyway, I didn't go for it.------------------

re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Your hands start shivering/shaking when taking pillion on a Honda shine? Its due to weakness of your muscles. However, you will get used to it. My hands were shivering badly the first time I rode my cbr250r with pillion. After a month, gradually the shivering stopped. Just take it easy. Your muscles will grow stronger.Originally posted by qualitylover View Postdo you feel weight wen riding in harsh traffic i m quite thin n own honda shine n activa currently n if i take heavy pillion little handle shake becomes in both will it b more in hornet for me due to 140kg any suggestion?

The bike has been launched here, but they haven't got it in stock as of now. Will take another couple of days, they said.
On further research, I understood that here, in this city, people do give the money to dealer beforehand and then they do the registration and insurance thing and then they deliver the bike. Anyways, I have cancelled the booking, sadly. The dealer said he can't help but delay it till next week. And I can't wait till then, so I thought of buying the bike from karnataka.

Re: Dealer asking whole amount
there isn't really any issue if I buy from karnataka. But after 3 or 4 years, I may well leave the state of karnataka and move elsewhere, most probably, my home town itself. So, I thought it would be better to buy from kerala itself. as I may have to go through a cumbersome procedure to change the registration. But then again, I read else where that, we don't have to necessarily change the registration if we migrate with the vehicle, we just have to pay the road tax as well of that particular state to which , we are moving. And that will suffice. I don't have a concrete idea. Just what I read over net from different forums and blogs.Originally posted by Harideep View PostWhat issue buying in Karnataka?? And another advantage is that, the road tax is cheaper in Kerala. Almost all the bikes are sold in Kerala for at least 2000 rupees cheaper comparing to karnataka.

I saw the bike of that specific color in stock. Making sure that they have the bike.
Odd for your case is, how can dealer ask for full amount when they don't bike in stock. Even Enfield guys only ask 5K to book.
Update regarding Registration: The process is quite fast in Hyderabad. I went for registration on 21st, Thu. I got my registration number on sms by that evening itself.
On Sunday itself I got sms saying High Security number plate is ready and today morning got fixed. The whole process of getting new number from scratch within 3 business days
. RC yet to arrive by post.

RC charge through agent was 960. I feel process was fair and I should have gone with self registration.Originally posted by Motomonster View PostTotal expense of registration including number plate?

For High security number plate 250 extra at . They will take your left hand thumb print and face and give you number plate with number is embossed in metal itself, both front and back. Number plate will be affixed by those guys only for free. There is no nut and bolt and can't be taken out without breaking the metal piece or plate/holder.------------------

They said I could wait till they have the bike in stock, but if someone else pays the whole amount, then they will be bound to give the bike that person. Thats what the dealer said. Anyways, I have cancelled the booking. And my mind, all of a sudden is moving slightly towards the gixxer, the owners there, on my query said the ground clearance issue is a myth. That, and poor pillion comfort (or so, as I have read) are the things which stopped me from going for gixxer. Both are really good products in the market nonetheless. 😊
I am reconsidering my options.😊
Especially, with apache 200 around the corner. 😊

Couldn't help to share this.
Before Hornet I was pretty much sure to get New Hunk. Once I bend towards Xtreme sports also.
But finally when I took test ride and I really liked the Hornet. The smoothness is just awesome at cruise speed between 40-80. Never thought, fat tyre would help you get some fun at corners
. Only issue (get used to) I found is, speed bracket on gear and 1st and 2nd are narrow. You have to be precise to make good shift for quicker speed.
Meanwhile, I am getting little annoyed when people start staring at bike
Reviews are saying Gixxer and hornet are almost same. Which ever you like, go for it

Yeah, any of these will be a good buy. I just that I have to look at pros and cons of both and weigh my priorities. 😊Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View Post
