  • Re: Bajaj CT100B

Okay I've one simple and stupid doubt.

Which side is choke turned on (that is more fuel and less air) in the bike? The manual says when the choke lever of pushed down, its on.

It would be great if bike owners could tell me which way is their choke lever as they ride it now. Up or down?

Glad you found it useful. Even I was surprised at this bulb's output/throw.. It was way better than what came stock on my Dio (not that it was bad.. this bulb was better). I think the oem bulbs are not halogen bulbs, that probably explains why this bulb of same rating is superior.

some pictures don't do justice when comparing light output. i suggest you swap the bulb yourself and see the difference.. hardly costs a few bucks and it is plug and play.

The CT100 has the choke lever on the handle (LHS) itself and if drawn towards you, it sends more fuel through the jet from the float chamber.

The erstwhile Hero 100cc motorcycles have it around the carburettor and if pushed down engages the choke and sends more fuel than air. You may also hear a ticking sound of sorts when the choke is engaged on these bikes as opposed to when it is not.

The choke is to be engaged only in a cold start. While riding always disengage the choke, for better fuel economy.

Okay guys, I'm facing an issue I want help with. I had gone out of city for 50 days. My bike was standing all time without a single start.

When I came back I noticed I was running bike with choke lever down. I referred owners manual, it says choke lever down is choke on (ie more petrol less air.). So next time I tried riding the bike with choke off, ie lever up. The bike jerked too much and started stalling. I quickly took the bike to service centre with choke lever down. They checked, cleaned the carburettor, sparkplug and still the same problem. With lever down the bike engine idles and runs properly, but with choke lever up the bike starts with kick and little bit of accelerator, but stalls as soon as I let go of accelerator.
They tried telling me that choke is off when pressed down and on when lever is up. I showed them manual which they said must be printing mistake. I asked them to check with other asc, they checked and confirmed that it must be printing mistake. Then I asked them how is it possible that bike stalls with choke on, and with choke off the bike doesn't stall. They explained that with choke on the combustion chamber gets flooded with petrol and hence it stalls. I didn't argue further as I was tired with running around. They told that they have forwarded this mistake to Bajaj hq for correction and will inform me in couple of days.

            I've a few questions:
            1. How the hell could Bajaj make such a big mistake in their manual? With choke on off position, it's quite crucial I suppose.
            2. Are their arguments which I have stated above correct, or they are just trying to fool me?
            3. What is the position on your ct100b? The choke position.

Please owners, answer my queries as I don't feel good while riding the bike, thinking I'm running with choke on and damaging my bike. Also I don't feel satisfied by the response of asc. So please help me!!

The choke on bajaj Ct 100 is at the left hand side of the handle bar. You don't have to do nothing. If you want to use the choke pull the lever and when you release the lever it will automatically goes to the default position

Thanks for the reply. But I forgot to mention that in ct100b it's near the carburettor.

I got CT100B & choke lever is on the left-side of the handlebar and just like deep007 said: You don't have to do nothing. If you want to use the choke pull the lever and when you release the lever it will automatically goes to the default position

So, what exactly you are trying to say ?

Which year ct100b is yours? What I am trying to say is, that choke is near carburettor. Unlike of what you are mentioning on the handle bar, mine is very close to carburettor. I purchased mine in 2017 March bs 4 version.

Thought bought in 2017. Mines a BS3 CT100B so the choke is right below the horn button.

I prefer the carb mounted lever as that translates to one less cable that needs replacement.

Though another confusion I have is whether the new CT100's were BS3 in the first place. As I remember seeing BS4 in one of the ads. I just presumed mine was BS3 as it lacked a SAI module.
