Yes, as same as any carbureted motorcycle. Should start the engine without opening the throttle. Sometimes it just require a warmup and rarely requires choke operation for few seconds during winters. Fi engines won’t have this problem.

What is the paid service cost? Is the maintanence high when compared to hondas? How much mileage it is giving in a moderate to high city traffic?

How much mileage can I get from rtr 200 if I am riding below 60 to 70kmph and shifting gears below 4k to 4.5k rpm?

88 kmph at 6000 rpm!! That seems some very tall gearing (If I'm right, the Pulsar AS 200 does 80 kmph at 6000 rpm – I'm not sure though; correct me if I'm wrong).

Does it do 88 kmph at 6k rpm? Does it mean that I could do 60+ kmph at 5k rpm?

Paid service will come around 1k-1.2k.
There is no additional maintenance cost than Honda. But the recommended tru4 oil won’t last as they promise for 5000kms. Average drain interval is 3000kms. May be that is less than Honda. Mileage average for carburettor model is 30-35. Mileage varies to a greater extent depending upon the riding and vehicle conditions.

On that speeds I t’ll give 35kmpl on city and 45+kmpl on highways. At constant speeds of 50-55kmph at highways I got 52kmpl. That’s my best.

Ya when compared to 4th gear the 5th gear is a bit taller for highway. That’s how it’s come close to pulsars 6th gear. I didn’t remember the exact speeds on the ns200 I had. But it’s definitely taller than rtr and it can’t be noticeable because rtr’s ultra refinement makes us feel that speed effortless.

You had NS200 and changed to RTR 200? Which year models? Why did you change? How is the RTR 200 compared to the NS200?

Actually 70 KMPH at 5000rpm. The gearing is tall but the engine will only have little juice after 110 KMPH.

Actually my brother had. We had the very first Ns and ktm200 at home together. Ns is for my brother and I had Ktm. We used to swap bikes very often.
When compared to ns, rtr200 is much better in many aspects like engine refinement, build quality, ride quality, city handling and ease of sporty riding. But rtr lacks on outright performance. Ns has a better performance after 110kmph. It can easily make you reach 135kmph but rtr struggles to climb over 120 and take a lot of time to get 135.
Then braking is a real let back in rtr. Possibly rtr has the worst brakes of its segment. Emergency braking is always scary in rtr. But Ns has better brakes even better than Ktm.
Ns is heavy so high speed stability feels more planted. But still rtr is light and nimble even at high speeds.
I felt the Ns fuel economy is a little better and consistent than rtr. I got 38kmpl with Ns and 33with rtr in city riding.

We changed both the ns and Ktm long back and now my brother upgraded to duke390. And I was shifted to Chennai for work so I preferred a comfortable, sporty and fast commuter. So I ended up with rtr.

How are the brakes? Are they bad?

What would you recommend? NS200 or the RTR 200? Daily commute 5-6 km to and fro, some 25 km rides once in 1 or 2 weeks and occasional 150 km rides once in 1 or 2 months. 40-60 kmph in city, 60-80 on highways.

Brakes are inferior to it’s class at extreme conditions ... but
I prefer rtr is the perfect pic... even I say it’s more than what you need. It’s far more comfortable for your need. If ur much more concerned about mileage I prefer rtr160 4v is a perfect pick for you. Because 80-100kmph is the sweet spot for rtr200. Ur requirements are very well suited for rtr160 4v

60-80 kmph on highways is due to the safety concerns... If I find a straight stretch that's clear enough, I'd not hesitate to hit 100 but my sweet spot is around 80.

BTW... How are the brakes? You earlier mentioned that the brakes are not so good.
