I am planning a road trip tomorrow. Total distance will be about 800 kms. It has been about 300 kms since my first service. I want to know whether I need to lube my chain during the ride or I can do it after coming back to Mumbai. I could not lube the chain today due to lack of time.

Get a bottle of Gear Oil en route and lube the chain if it looks dry.Originally posted by lone_wolf7508 View PostI am planning a road trip tomorrow. Total distance will be about 800 kms. Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
You must use choke to start in the morning. Even the user manual suggests to use choke during cold starts(refer page no.36 in user manual). It will not damage the engine.Originally posted by Ketan yadav View PostIn my bike I have cold start problem every morning I have to start my bike with choke so I m worried about this cause I have heard that by using choke it will damage our engine what should I do cause i have heard about using irridium spark plug or something else??

From which showroom you have purchased? What's the onroad price?Originally posted by imashish2789 View PostDear Members,
I had purchased 200 RTR ABS Race Edition 2.0 Black Color on 26/11/2018 in Bangalore.
Issues that can be solved:
1. COLD START: This issue got resolved in the 2nd Service. I just informed about this to the service guy and he resolved it.
2. GEAR SHIFT Sound: Gear might be hard. Ask the service guy, they will solve it.
Issues I am facing now and NEED HELP:
1. Stickers are bad. Within 2 months of daily commuting, the stickers are coming off now. Showroom guys are not helpful as they said there is no stickers available. Need Help for complaining or replacing the stickers.
Questions:
1. How to save tank from the scratches? Willing to go for a matte black vinyl wrap. Suggestions please.
2. Any good shops in Bangalore for the Accessories? Need to change the visor with a bigger one.
About Bike:
Amazing machine with great engine response. Completed 2900 kms till date.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
With Shell Normal petrol, I got 41.6kmpl and with IOCL Normal petrol, I got 39.8kmpl in Bangalore. I am using Indian Oil now.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Completed the 600 km trip after the first service. A pretty tough machine this is, has to be said!
First 300km was one of the worst road of my life full of potholes, my body took a heavy toll, but bike was absolutely fine, like nothing ever happened.
On the return, I came 50 km around and took the 4-way, In the highway, bike is just a breeze. It felt really comfortable at 80-90, beyond which I didn't take it as it is still relatively new engine.
One issue, I noticed on above 50 (I never took it beyond 60 before first service), the left side tank is wobbling and it vibrates like vibrator.
I checked the right side, there was completely no vibrations. Is this due to loose tank fit? whether this can be tightened?
Also I got "Check fuel sensor" error after filling full tank for almost 50 km. In the previous threads it was specified it can be ignored, as it is due to filling more fuel.
Usually in all of my previous bikes, after a 600 or so km trip, the bike will be begging for some attention, There is none of those case with Apache 200 even after riding 300 km on a very very bad roads, which tells, this is one hell of a machine!!
Can someone suggest a better cleaner (de-greaser) for chain? I used diesel spray but it spilled grease all over and made a mess.
Is there any demo video of how we can use 90 grade oil as a lube for apache 200 chains? Whether the chain noise reduces after using 90 grade oil?
Is there any better SVC in chennai, Vijayalakshmi motors in keelkattalai sucks. They try to convince me that chain noise is a normal thing in A200, by showing another noisy vehicle, which sounded soooo horrible. I don't want my bike to sound like that, by giving service to those morons.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
I have the problem with chain noise issue. When I put the bike on center stand on a flat surface and checked chain while running i can chain jumps at one particular point and it creates that noise. Might be sprocket issue. But svc guys were refusing to check this and they were simply tighten the chain and spary lube. Yesterday i had to fight with them and finally they agreed to check it today. Real pain dealing with these svc guys.Originally posted by Arunachalam View PostCompleted the 600 km trip after the first service. A pretty tough machine this is, has to be said!

Try Motul C1 for chain cleaning but I'm not sure if it is worth the price.Originally posted by Arunachalam View PostCompleted the 600 km trip after the first service. A pretty tough machine this is, has to be said!

The markings on the swingarm are not correct (at least in my case) and the recommended slack is not the best (confirmed by an automobile engineer).Originally posted by msrb1984 View PostI have the problem with chain noise issue. The correct slack is around 25-30mm while the mentioned slack is 20-25mm. The SVCs usually tighten it to <20mm which only makes things worse.
Try this to get the chain correct.
Loosen the axle bolt and adjust both side chain adjusters to make the slack 20-25mm (alignment doesn't matter much as this is not the final setting).
Tighten the chain adjuster on the right side (try to loosen the chain). If the slack increases, loosen the adjuster (tighten the chain) and repeat the process till the chain tightens while trying to loosen it. Do not disturb the left side adjustment bolt during this step.
When the chain is at the maximum tightness, you've reached the correct point.
Then turn both the adjusters equally till the slack is ~ 25mm.
Tighten the axle bolt.
Now, the chain sound must've gone/significantly reduced.
[DM me for any clarification]

Is there any demo video for this? I try to remember this when they did it in SVC, but I can't really understand how they are tightening or loosening. Unfortunately, no. This is the method I follow, which I found by trial and error method.Originally posted by Arunachalam View PostIs there any demo video for this? Better do this yourself as SVC won't be willing to do it. They'll say everything is alright. 95% of the time, they twist the bolts randomly to tighten the chain and call it job done.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
The oil looks good. Use 90 grade oil in cold weather conditions and 140 grade in summers or hotter conditions as it will be thicker and will stick to the chain even when hot. If you don't want to use two different grades stick to the 90 grade oil for the whole year.Originally posted by Arunachalam View PostCan I use this 90 grade oil for lubing? 90 vs 140 which will be good? any suggestions?
