I'd like to know more about the braking power.

Many Apache 200 riders think the brakes are not upto the mark. They'll be more than happy to have a brake pads with more stopping power and not even give a second thought about the life of the pads.

Some mods already done for improving braking include steel braided lines and changing the master cylinder.

      Hello all,

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed quite a lot in this thread but I still need a lot of clarification about the cold start issue. I bought the bike two weeks ago and the bike is with the service center one week. They have no idea as to why the cold start issue is occurring. They have tried everything but could not fix it. So, I wanted to know if anybody actually knows what the reason for this is or if this actually gets rectified by itself in few months. Since the issue is with a few bikes, I'm guessing this is not an inherent fault in the model itself. Please let me know any info regarding this issue since it has really started to get on my nerves now.

I guess the cold start issue comes with the package. I too bought the bike two weeks ago. I still has the issue, the bike won't stop in the morning or in the evening, when I start after office hours. I got used to using choke for 5 seconds and let it sit in idle rpm for 1 minute, then use it. It's good for your engine in longer run. So, even if it resolves after first couple of services, I would be still using the choke and idle rpm for 1 miin. So, I'm making it a habit myself. Sometimes, you can complain, sometimes you can just move on with it, specially when your bike's negative point makes a good thing for your bike. Moreover If you got used to this method, it can even help you like you can make it time for your little meditation, before you sit on your bike and open the throttle, those idle few seconds can clear your mind and give a peace of mind, so it can help you in making instant decisions while driving. Make your negatives into positives.

I found ZMA brake pads better for a variety of reasons.
          1. Life of pads and rotors both. For some reason, RTR pads eat away at the rotors.
          2. Pad material from NISSIN (ZMA) is superior.

          My current setup:
          1. Tire upgraded to 90/90-18 from 80/100-18 [most important]
          2. OEM pads from NISSIN
          3. Pulsar 180 hose (steel braids from P220 fall short on ZMR]
          4. Master Cylinder kit from RTR 180. Can also use TBTS 350 unit.
          5. Honda Hornet rotor (direct fit, looks fancy).
          Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Thanks for the info, sir. But I think you probably didn't take a look at the title that reads Apache 200 4v.

What do you think about the Ninja brake pads? I've seen you mention having used them on your ZMR in the ZMR thread. The single most important factor is the braking power. Cost and pad life are secondary.

Please mention the temperature at your place and the steps taken by the SVC to solve the issue.

The newer 200 4v bikes don't have any cold start issues, at least if the temperature is >25°C. They start in a single crank while some FI bikes don't.

I live in Hyderabad, the temperatures here are comfortably over 30. I understand the logic behind using the choke may be in the morning but not every 4-5 hrs. The SVC checked the carburetor, coils, spark plug but still could not figure out what the issue was.

I did read the thread title and if you look closely, I was tagged in this thread, when I don't own an Apache. Hence I shared my experience.
Ninja 250R brake pads again are a direct fit on the ZMR/ZMA, no idea if they can be used on Apaches.

Sintered pads from Ninja make a metal rubbing sound and if that doesn't bother you (does to me) and if it fits the bike, it's a good option.

Yes sir. I actually tagged you because you had mentioned somewhere about using Ninja brake pads in the ZMR. As it is a direct fit, I thought it'll also fit the Apache 200. Basically I wanted to know about the effectiveness (braking power) of the Apache, Karizma and Ninja brake pads.

I'm from Chennai, Currently the temperature at morning lurks around 22, But in my office, in the evening it would be surely around 30.
I haven't taken to SVC yet for this. As I'll be giving my bike for first service at this weekend.

By the weekend, after the first service, I'll be clocked 700 in ODO. Shall I take her on a trip of 600km round trip which would wrap within 24 hours. It would be on the ECR, so you can't take that for a highway, so no idle RPM.

Keeping it around 60-80 during the trip, would it be too much for this engine at this stage? Can someone recommend?

Watch "sportztourer carb tuning" video on YouTube. It must most probably solve your issue.

Better to complete the 1st service before a 600km trip. 1300kms before 1st service is not recommended.

See if the SVC fixes the cold start issue.

Yes, I'll complete my first service at 700km, then I'm going to take it for a 600 km trip.
Just wanted to know, whether maintaining 60-80 throughout the trip is acceptable for the engine at this time.

Yes, those speeds are acceptable. But make sure you don't baby the bike too much or ride in higher RPM's for a prolonged time. Also, give sufficient stops every 50-70-100 kms whenever possible for the engine to rest since it is still in the running in period. Rest should be fine.

Yes N250 pads are a direct fit. N300 pads are slightly different and they may not fit.
Purely performance wise, N250 pads definitely enjoy being at the top spot.
