no, oil leakage means either that the oil mist catcher in your breather pipe is not working properly or your seal/gasket is leaking. get it checked and rectified.Originally posted by AbiRam View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Hey everyone...
I have bought the Matt Grey beast in the end if August and have crossed 1050kms in odo. My experience with this bike has been fantastic. I was actually shuffling my mind between Pulsar AS 200 and Apache 200. But since AS was no longer available here in Hyderabad, I decided to go for Apache.
And today I'm completely proud with my decision. This bike is far better than pulsars in terms of quality and engine refinement.
This bike is definitely an attention seeker and the way people enquire me about the bike and praise it, always brings a wide smile on my face. I'm sure that every one in this thread would have experienced this too.
But recently I have been facing 2 issues with this bike and was anxious to know if any of you are having similar problems too...
1. Loud running noise of chain. I have got this checked with the ASC thrice. They have lubricated and adjusted the chain but still the noise persists. And they informed me that this is just the running sound of chain and is commonly seen in all RTR 200s & suggested me not to worry much about this.
Can someone suggest, if this noise is actually harmless to the chain or should I get this checked in some other ASC.
2. Free play of the clutch. Few days after the first service, I noticed the clutch has been moving freely for almost half the way the lever could move. Due to this, I need to release very little of clutch to move the vehicle. I am yet to visit back the ASC to get this corrected.
Just wondering if someone of you also faced similar issues with the bike.
Also can some suggest where we can find proper seat covers and tank covers that could fit my RTR 200. Please suggest any store here in Hyderabad or any online website.
Thanks to your response in advance. Ride safe.Last edited by Lalith; 09-22-2016, 01:37 AM.

1. for the chain noise issue, get the chain diesel washed properly and then spray motul chain lube properly into the entire chain. if this doesn't help, then do the following test... go on a quiet road, ride to about 30-40 kph, release the throttle. and suddenly raise it. do u feel a jerk to either one of the sides? in case yes, then there is an alignment problem. in case no, raise speed to about 60ish and switch off engine. sound of the chain like when u used to ride a cycle should come, slightly louder... nothing else.
2. for play in clutch level, u can yourself adjust that using the thread nut arrangement on the clutch lever... adjust it to your convenience, just remember to keep some play. that is crucial for the longevity of the clutch plate...

Thanks for the reply. I'll try the suggested test and will update you shortly on that. As per my experience I did not feel any jerk or alignment issues yet.Originally posted by Kos View Postcongrats on your new bikes...

And yes I'll also adjust the clutch by maintaining some play..

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
I have some doubts regarding breakin period... i have seen in different forums ppl r stating that if someone doesn't take his bike to its top speeds before 1k kms he won't be able to achieve that speed ever in future...
Can someone plz tell me how true is that statement??

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Totally false no such compulsion, i have personally done running in for 2 bikes 2 cars . You have to be extra careful fro the first 1000 kms. after that ride normally . do touch top speed between 1000 to 2000 kms say you can do it once a week but for just a fraction of time. don't redline the bike in every gear very often , normally ride in all gears and achieve top speed and come down do this till 3000 kms after that you can red line more oftenOriginally posted by tanishq View PostI have some doubts regarding breakin period... i have seen in different forums ppl r stating that if someone doesn't take his bike to its top speeds before 1k kms he won't be able to achieve that speed ever in future...
