Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Battery of my Aprilia got bad. Was not retaining charge and was unable to self start. Got it replaced today at exide battery service centre. They gave a new dry cell battery of model "12XL5L-B". Heard that dry cell batteries are much better and arw maintenance free. Does anyone have knowledge about this particular battery model?

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
recommended is 29 at the front and 32 for the rearOriginally posted by karthikanchalkar View PostHi All,
I have been owning the SR150 for almost 3 months and 2k on the ODO now and loving every ride. Just want to know what is the ideal tyre pressure. Is it 26 in the front and 29 in the rear?
Cheers

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hey there, what a stiffer suspension does is reduce arm pump and keeps the bike balanced when it concerns the SR 150. Ultimately the feedback received provides more traction for the wheelbase hence your shaft rotations will be done justice to with quick response.Originally posted by VRVR46 View PostAny explanation on how softer suspension leads to slower pick up and drop in mileage?
A softer suspension would decrease feedback and reduce required traction. This would lead to a slower pickup which would in turn lead to more strain on the engine leading to unnecessary combustion and hence a drop in mileage.

I did face a similar problem, tighten the screw that keeps the unit from moving towards the right under seat area. Keep doing that at intervals since engine vibrations can loosen up the screw. You could also use locktite or a spring washer to prevent this from happening.Originally posted by jermm_83 View PostAnyone having their rear shock touch the mudguard?feel this happens while the shock is compressing over speed breakers and a pillion is on

Anyone has any idea what it could be?There are two kinds of "clicking sounds" that come from the rear:Originally posted by Minisoda View PostSo I have kind of identified the location of the sound. It's coming from rear left somewhere from the CVT. As soon as I let go of throttle there is a click sound.
I did fill up the tyres with air (33 psi rear is correct right?) And the sound has increased now. I'll bring it to the attention of svc and tell them to fix it if they can.
Cheers.
1. Wheel Shaft.
2. Roller/ CVT setup.
The wheel shaft makes such a sound given the free-play it requires to spin. The wide wheels put some stress on the shaft and hence over time there will be some unnecessary pre-load dampening which results in the shaft surface hitting the anti-friction ring.
Secondly, due to a wide CVT variator and bell assembly, the rollers tend to be a bit lose at times causing that distinct 'clatter' that all SR's face. Something to get used to sadly.

Has anyone faced the following problems as of now?
1. Thudding sound over road bumps or potholes.
2. Squeaking/ squealing from rear wheel/ front wheel over bumps/ potholes.
3. Atrociously loud clatter from CVT box.
4. Unbearable vibrations from the front fairing.
5. "Dhap" sound from the front area due to suspension compression upon applying front break.
6. Horizontal wobbling on handlebars.
7. Vertical angled wobbling on handlebars.
8. Infrequent clicking sound from rear wheel.
9. Wobbly wheel/ tire.
10. Unbalanced swing-arm (squeaking or loss of stability).
11. Bike wobbles on swing-arm and rear suspension.
12. Morning cold-start issues.
13. Over-vibration of body on idle.
Do reply with a comment on that particular issue with either:
1. A query.
2. A solution.
3. An idea/ suggestion.
4. An experience with the SVC solving any of the above issues.
I have compiled the above considering complaints from customers in Goa and Tamil Nadu. Working on creating a thread specific to address answers and solutions to specific issues faced with the Aprilia SR 150 and SR 150 Race Edition.
Also to be noted is that the new batch released in June/ July has a tweaked suspension and re-designed bushings for the suspension, swing-arm and axle. The SVC also claimed that Piaggio seeks to introduce a slight re-design to the wheel (not aesthetically or design wise but rather technical aspects of width and drum area CNC carving).
Also to mention, I have literally dropped off my vehicle to the SVC around 25 times due to constant never occurring issues. Have had the rear wheel changed 5 times and now the tires. Clutch components replaced, disc brakes and wheel shaft. The SVC is yet to have a look at all the bushings and the suspension.Ride responsibly. You only have one life!

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
fernsruben yes I have faced that thud sound from front suspension. In fact this isn't the only bike I have that has this noise. My RS200 also has this sound and I couldn't figure out a solution to decrease the sound or get rid of it.
In the RS 200 it's the cone set or triple tree that causes the sound and that is quite loud (much louder than the one on the SR), no amount of fiddling (by many different owners) has led to a solution and we still have it in the BS4 bikes.
My guess is it's either the cone set or the front fairing assembly which is causing this noise. I don't find it distracting (for now) so I don't mind it, however I will raise a complain to svc.
P.S. I haven't faced any wheel/suspension issues as of yet (fingers crossed). The metal on metal sound seems to have vanished on its own (thankfully), and haven't seen the shock rub on anything. Will update after I've done the first service which might take another week. Cheers!Last edited by Minisoda; 07-13-2017, 09:04 PM.

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I am facing the following:
12. Morning cold-start issues
Could this be a case of tight valves, or valves requiring inspection?
13. Over-vibration of body on idle.
IT vibes so much at idle it can churn butter

Yes, cold start issues could be due to out of spec valve clearances.Originally posted by jermm_83 View PostI am facing the following:

But first try and use the choke on cold starts, and see if that sorts out the problem (use choke, start, let it idle for 30 seconds and then close choke and ride). If even using choke is causing starting issues , then get the valve clearances adjusted to spec.
As for vibrations, get the engine mounting and the body panel mounting checked and tightened.

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Here it is. (it's a Steelbird helmet sold by Aprilia with their brand name on it).Originally posted by Ipsit Anoop View PostAnyone knows where to find the Aprilia full face helmet that fits the SR 150's under seat storage?
I suggest you buy a normal Steelbird Helmet and get it stickered like this, since Aprilia is charging more just because their name is printed on the helmet.
Cheers!

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Full face is better than open face any day. Also I have seen them offer this helmet when I went to pick up my SR. I already have a helmet but I will buy a SB Air Full Face for my siblings. Cheers.
