Is it normal for odo reading of 525?
It is normal till 2000kms in odo. I had this even after my first service was done.

I'm assuming you're riding alone and not with a pillion. I got close to 39kmpl in my initial 1000kms(70% highway and 30% city - below 4.5k rpm). So for such an average speed, between 4-4.5k rpm, the average you're getting is pretty low and it needs attention. I suggest you take the bike to SVC guys and do a basic health check.

For the initial 1000kms, just keep the bike below 4.5k rpm and occasionally take it till 5k. Maintain sufficient air pressure, clean and lube the chain around 500kms, be gentle on the throttle, and don't travel in same RPM for long time and vary the RPM(gently).

      Cheers!
Thanks for the advice buddy, will surely take the bike to SVC guys. My bike is ridden mostly in city traffic (Bumper to bumper) but I still feel, 31-KMPL is quite less.

1 more query, now that i have crossed 600KMS, can i go beyond 70KMPH ???? Would that be a good thing to do before the first service ???

changed engine oil a couple of weeks back
have clocked 3900 kms on the odometer
If you turn the key when kill switch is on, there should be no sound from fuel pump. Sound should only emanate for few seconds when you turn on key while keeping kill switch in off position.
Any other behaviour is considered as aberrant and you should go to SVC, Especially when you could hear fuel pump noise when engine is running.

Its Never About Speed but about RPM .
you can go up to 6000 rpm ie 90@5th gear.

i get 37kmpl in city ,44+kmpl in highway.

Thanks and now I have the infamous tappet noise after riding for 23km on highway maintaining speed below 5k rpm. Will be it sorted out in first service or it'll be persistent with the bike?

I too faced this issue twice. Both of the times it was immediately after water wash. The beep stayed for a couple of hours and vanished once the bike was dry. So I'm not sure whether it's related to water seeping somewhere inside, any chance your bike was completely drenched in rain or did you wash the bike recently?

              Cheers!

I also have tappet sound , my odo reading is 2840 ,tappet not solved at service.
i am currently using studds shifter d1 helmet & now i am not bothered with tappet noise.

A good service center promised me the problem will sort out at second service.
SVC guy told be there is no harm to anything during tappet noise ,only problem is the sound .

37 KMPL in city is great! mine is relatively low compared to that.

Thanks bro... i will get my bike checked in SVC.

                  Cheers and Happy ridding.

I still have tappet noise and I got this fixed after 1400kms. At 750 kms I got my first service and oil change done. I took my bike to 9krpm between 750 to 1400kms for numerous time. So no need to worry. Now my mechanic suggested me to keep my speed limited to 80kmph for another 1000kms. As of now some noise crop up post 75kms. So there is nothing to worry at all.

                    Happy Riding.

I had a tappet sound after the bike getting hot. Not on cold. At 1st service at 720kms mech didn't adjusted as bike was cold and no sound. At 3400kms i heard tappet sound a lot.

Tappet sound is something need not to worry about and can be done at home if you know how to. I could have done it but i didn't knew how to remove tank side panels. So i took to svc and they acknowledged the sound and adjusted it at no charge. Good thing is that they used feeler gauge, otherwise most mechanics didn't use it.

Sound got better. They were really loose. But i still need to check sound when hot. Otherwise will adjust by my own this time.

It was secto yamaha at Delhi where i get it done (for delhi fz owners).

I have changed first engine oil at 750kms, during my first servicing. Since then I have ridden little more than 1300 kms. Now this is how the engine oil looks like:

Waiting to see how engine behaves with Motul 7100. Day after tomorrow will leave for a trip to Ganpatiphule. Hope things go well.

Waiting for your input on engine oil.
You can also use Kerosene (it doesn't harm o-rings) to clean and Rolon Chain lube(fairly cheap than motul and almost equally effective).
PS- Have a safe and enjoyable trip

Well there is no universal rule. Depending on the riding condition like dry or rainy season the interval changes. Now how well you want to keep it maintained is upto you, its totally individual choice. You may clean it every 100 or 1000 no one is stopping you. But ideally 500-700km is fine.

Some mechanics are too lazy to perform the work and they would say anything. Yes loose tappet doesn't harm much but too loose will. I couldn't ride with such problems, it bothers me. If svc hadn't done mine, i'd have opened myself.

Well i see you are from Jamshedpur man. Me too its my home town. I used to have home at Sonari now at Adityapur. We have two other xbhp member from Jamshedpur, they are my friends as well. But both of them are not there now. I will visit there next year and hope to meet you if you wish too..
