Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi,
I am looking for a next bike and very much interested in fz25. Only thing holding me back is the alloy wheels.
Is their any issue if wheel cracking in FZ 16 or earlier models.
Can u glide on the bad patch of the road without worrying about alloy wheels?
Pls help

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
The alloys are of very good quality. Never heard of alloys on any of the FZ variants being plagued by quality issues. That said, Indian road conditions are such that alloys provided by any manufacturer can crack/bend if one is not careful. The monstrous potholes often encountered would demolish those made with even adamantium I guess 😑.Originally posted by Mandar_C500 View PostHi,

Actually I am using RE now and has a very bad habit of standing on the footpegs without reducing the speed while going over bad patch or speed breakers.Originally posted by ALI.R View PostThe alloys are of very good quality. With the spoke wheels I am not afraid of breaking.
Thanks

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
You can't do that with alloy rims. I'm mean, you can but you would be risking damage no doubt. One nasty pothole at high speed and the rim could get busted.Originally posted by Mandar_C500 View PostActually I am using RE now and has a very bad habit of standing on the footpegs without reducing the speed while going over bad patch or speed breakers.

Standing on the pegs to navigate bad/no roads is an exhilarating experience in itself, but with the appropriate setup.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hello mandar sir. You rightly worried as alloys can bend on bad impact from big potholes but normal bad surface would not cause any harm. As the apparently the alloys on fz25 looks sturdy enough. I have test ridden the bike and it is very smooth till 75kmph that is the max i took due to traffic.Originally posted by Mandar_C500 View PostActually I am using RE now and has a very bad habit of standing on the footpegs without reducing the speed while going over bad patch or speed breakers.

And alloy rims can bend on any bike, even on Harley too.

IJS, I am not complaining about Yamaha in particular. I am talking about my bad riding habit.Originally posted by Ijs View PostHello mandar sir. Is there any spoked vehicle in this segment??
Thanks

Thanks Aditya,Originally posted by IamAditya View PostRoyal Enfield , Avenger cruise and Hero impulse( lower segment but bettet for your requirement).
Cheers.
Royal Enfield : I already have it (and the reason of bad riding style)
Avenger : I don't like it (Nothing against bike, my personal opinion)
Impulse : Discontinued (As per my knowledge).

if you want an off road bike wait for bmw gs or ktm adventure.Originally posted by Mandar_C500 View PostHi,

if you want a road bike that is a bit more fun and sporty that can handle few bad patches on your long rides, consider fz.
you cant decide bike based on your one off habit that will change depending on which bike you get.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Impulse is long gone buddy. No Hero showroom in Pune has single 1 of those since 2 years now. (I remember because I went to 3 showrooms after selling my FZ in 2015.)Originally posted by IamAditya View PostRoyal Enfield , Avenger cruise and Hero impulse( lower segment but bettet for your requirement).

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
A slightly out of the box suggestion - Buy the FZ(16 or 25), change the alloys to spoke rims. I reckon I have seen numerous bikes with this mod done for off-roading.Originally posted by Mandar_C500 View PostThanks Aditya,

Can you please point me to any of the thread here and on some other forum. I will be happy to buy FZ250. Any pointers for the modifiers will also help.

I meant seen on roads over the years. Not sure on xbhp we had someone posting the process but it shouldn't be rocket science. Just your tubeless tyres will need to be converted to tube. That's one downside.Originally posted by Mandar_C500 View PostCan you please point me to any of the thread here and on some other forum. I will be happy to buy FZ250.
