I have broken it in properly... Rarely go above 6 to 7k rpm, clean and lube my chain regularly and change engine oil on time.

I even tried shell oil without much difference.

Yamalube had a strange effect wherein after 1.5k to 2k kms it becomes smooth and then again becomes rough by 3k and I have to change.

It's run 11.5k kms so far and I either got a faulty bike and it's never gonna get smooth, or I need to try another Fz25 and see if my expectations were too high. The SVC says it's all good.

My friends RTR 200 feels more smooth.

Though I just love how effortlessly the Fz pulls with just a slight twist of the throttle which is the only thing that makes me smile.
To be frank, dont try to find any super smoothnes in fz25. This engine is just like that and its not an issue at all.

Try another fz with similar odo readings, and please share your experience. Actually vibrations are subjective to different people, for eg some owners of 2018 hornet feels engine to be smooth, while i find my 2018 hornet to be rough.

Have completed 15k km and have same experience as you do. But it is what it is. I feel at 5k the vibration is intense. Below and above this rpm engine is not so harsh. Even I love the torque of this bike. It's addictive and also gives excellent mileage. Just ignore it's short comings.

I feel some roughness too, but I don't bother. I agree with Ankit, we won't be able to find that 150cc smoothness with this engine, but it is decent.
Somehow upshifts are super smooth and downshifts (with rev matching) are smooth on mine. My friend's bike from the first lot has hard gearshifts.

Every bike is different I guess, on my friend's bike (10k+ done), the vibration at that 5k range (or 77-83kmph as I've noticed) is much much lesser than when it was new. It is just a slight buzz now. Might be because he rides a lot in that RPM range, gives him nearly 42kmpl.

I find that gear shifts are smoother after cleaning and lubing the chain. I don't know if that's how it actually is.

I'm getting new tyres on Tuesday. Mrf revz fv1 110/70 and Masseter 140/70. Super excited!!

Also anyone here has any info about how to get a sprocket of teeth around 42

Thanks guys. So I guess its the latter case and my expectations were high. Hopefully will make peace with it and focus on enjoying all the bikes positives.

Do check MRF Masseter. They have excellent grip almost as performance tyres. There are several people using them & have excellent feedback.

I did mention masseter tyre for the rear wheel!

Masseter is now available for the front as well, albeit in 110/70 size.

But revz fc1 is good too, absolute VFM. Do post pictures after fitting them.

Why a 42T sprocket though? It'll make the gearing too tall and will noticeably affect acceleration. Plus you may have to cut a few links from the chain for a proper fit.

I may try a 16T front sprocket though. I've asked a friend to purchase one from the US, to see how much it affects the bike's performance (although stock is the best for city use).

I want the 110/70 front tyre. The dealers in Delhi I've contacted don't have them

Stick with the stock in front. Handle will be hard if u change the size of front tyre. U can change the rear tyre size for better grip.

That actually depends on the tyre. A Michelin pilot street radial will make the front heavy. Something like a Pirelli Angel CT won't make much of a difference.

Hey guys, an update. I got my bike back today, it feels a little better now. The SVC guy (or rather my Yamaha contact) claimed that the triple tree alignment was off and that this is a common issue with the FZ25. I doubt their claim about the alignment, but I'll observe for a week or so before coming to a conclusion.

If it still isn't fixed completely, I'll first shoot a mail to Yamaha. The last resort would be to replace the front end parts one by one later, spending from my own pocket.

Hi good to know it worked out. I also have a similar mileage nowadays around 42kmpl like your friend and my riding conditions are similar with large sections done at 55 to 75kmph. If throttle input is smooth and resist the urge to blip, mileage is very good. Just done with 20k service and it's all good. Regarding smoothness of the engine, keeping the tappets in spec is an important part I feel. The adjustment window is only within 20microns and needs good skill to get it right.

P.S I find the L type tappet spanner more easy to use than the circular knob type one. Cost about 30 to 50rs depending where you buy.

Which engine oil do you use?
What is the oil change interval?
