I'm planning to get the clip-ons setup a little higher, like the R3's stance. May be you can also think of the same and we'll finally have some ideas on making the R15S a better touring machine.

I asked a workshop to fabricate me a handlebar raiser. But the problem lies with the length of cables. Also the low torque in pathetic bangalore traffic creates a engine clutter sound. Which gives handle bar vibes. I love this bike on highways but 70℅ of usage is city and I dont want to bear any more neck pain which I am having since past 1 month. Thats why switching to fz25.

Well no one knows, unless someone does it first.

Question for owners , did you receive the bike with leg guard?
here in Mumbai the dealer told me that they have delivered the bikes without the leg guard as it has not arrived from the vendor as its design has not been finalized that's shocking

                1. Handling is quite comfortable, so is the rider comfort. Wife wasn't happy on pillion though - way too tall without back support and she was worried that she might fall off. I fail to understand new design of seats on most of these bikes - never heard any pillion rider liking it - way too high in the air with higher CG, no wonder pillion doesn't feel safe!
                2. Bike feels light, absolutely light and comfortable - almost like my current Unicorn.
                3. Gears are NOT smooth - shifting is little tricky.
                4. Not as fast as some video compared for 0-60 or 0-100, but it is quite competent.
                5. I drove in twilight, and the headlight beam was barely visible on road in that light and spread wasn't impressive either. Though I could see lights from other vehicles comparatively brighter in the same light. Headlight is not as good as one would expect. Becomes a major concern if you're considering touring on this bike.
                6. The bike does not really feel premium if you compare it with Dominar or even RTR 200 - even FZ-S saree guard on the rear wheel is better than FZ-25. Console is impressive, but poorly designed and illuminated. Dominar/RTR 200 make it look much better.

I fail to understand why Yamaha has decided to put this at the bottom of 250 cc bikes and did not add better frame, ABS, slipper clutch and that 6th gear. They have priced it low and bike seems to be a good package for its price. Given Yamaha's reputation & reliability, it could attract some people looking for options beyond 150 cc bikes.

For me it is likeable, but lacks that WOW factor. I believe Yamaha has missed an opportunity to create a truly desirable, premium bike with better specifications (better frame, ABS, slipper clutch and that 6th gear - few more bells and whistles like side-stand warning, service reminder etc.) that could have been launched around 1.5 L to 1.6 L ex-showroom. That would have caused some serious competition for CBR 250.

As of now, it only seems to compete with RTR 200 or NS 200. I have already seem people preferring Dominar instead of this one here on xBHP itself in the last 1 week.
I feel Yamaha would Yamaha R25 for the premium 250 segments.
FZ 25 is upgraded from FZ-S so they would put the price range according to it. & It's already working as some have bought it as they can't afford CBR 250 or new Duke 250.
FZ 25 is a good option for those who wants to go for affordable 250cc bike.

This is probably *never* going to happen, if you look at how Yamaha plays in India.

Yes leg guard is chargeable but I got it free as the 1st fz25 customer from the dealership.

HI chandan, just a couple of questions.

How would you compare the FZ25 handling against R3.? Just want to know how they stack up against each other in handling.

Also, is there a much difference in low end torque among two.?

                        Thanks.

That's like comparing Bobby Deol with elder brother Sunny. Same parent but different class altogether. Can't compare the handling of a premium commuter with the best 300cc sports bike in the world IMHO. Similarly, 30NM of torque from a parallel twin will feel dramatically different to 20NM produced by a single pot.

Actually iam not comparing these two. I know these two are in total different league.I just want to know how R3 and fz inside City.
But i highly doubt the R3 will have more torque than FZ at its lower rev range.

In city conditions, the FZ, being commute oriented, will always feel better.

The R3 does 0-60 inside 3 seconds and 0-100 in under 6 seconds. Way more low end torque.

Riding Fz25 is more enjoyable because of it's light weight and it's very nimble. R3 for obvious reasons doesn't even come close to it.

Being two different engines low end torque is also different, fz25 being more suitable for city conditions than R3.

For touring FZ25 can do 90-100 kmph all day without stressing engine. Engine doesn't heat up.
