But with an iPhone, the ktm and the sena connect together and when you answer a call, the audio is routed to the Bluetooth.
It's just weird that they wouldn't consider android to work on the same lines.
Firstly, congratulations on your lovely acquisition!

To get to the point, I have a OnePlus 3 and I had visited a KTM showroom to check out the 2017 390s recently. My phone seemed to pair just fine with the TFT screen and my Sena 3S at the same time. I played some music and even asked my dad to call me while it was connected and apart from a little delay here and there (especially in the volume adjustment using the handlebar buttons), the connections worked perfectly. However, the contact name isn't displayed when receiving a call, instead the number pops up as other people have already pointed out. Maybe you should re-pair your phone (no punning intended :P) for the Sena thing to work. The phone detects the TFT screen as a bluetooth input device and the Sena as a bluetooth audio device so there isn't any clash between the devices AFAIK.

Hi guys, took delivery on the 10th of April. Have been facing this clock reset issue. The bike is more refined than the outgoing model. Is there a WhatsApp group for the Duke owners?

I faced the same issue. Either wait for a software update or get it replaced.

But then, the next time I switched on the bike, the date and time again defaulted to 12:00/ 2016. This happened a few times and then I encountered a bug in the software.

The Duke 250 display "CAN FAILURE" when on low fuel. Why so? Need to find answers to this.

Its pretty east to diagnose the new 390's and my issue was solved in just 2 days.

But these are the issues I have faced -

            1. ECU failure - Around 1700 kms, on a hot day, I got home after riding for 30 kms. As soon as I got home, the bike switched off, showed up ECU Failure. I switched off the bike and switched it back on. The warning stayed on for 5 seconds. Then the engine temperature started cooling down.. And about 20 seconds later, bike started.
            This happened only once.

            2. Headlight switched off - Happened yesterday for the first time. LED switched off for 2 seconds and came back on.

            3. Date & Time fluctuation - I don't exactly know how to explain this. I have a video of it. Basically, the date changes randomly to 17.17.2017 and the time changes to 17.17 for about 2 seconds and goes back to the original time. This happens everytime during the ride.. And it happens every 5 to 10 min intervals.
            Attached an image of it.

Apart from this, I haven't faced any issues. I'm planning on a longer ride soon. I'm hoping I don't face any more issues.
Thank you, Chip. @jbrainrd I think the reason why I asked Chip to elaborate his experience was to make sure exactly, queries like yours get answered. Chip has in fact added quite some gyaan here regarding the TFT issues and the solution to it. You can read his reviews and consider the next course of action.

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

            THE END

They replaced the entire unit under warranty, no questions asked. Very impressed with the support they showed me. Bike is flawless now.

Btw, the LCD costs a whopping Rs 19500!!
              What issues were you facing?

Are you guys getting any extended warranty for 2 or 3 years to cover electrical failures?

The air is mostly directed away from the rider but i did feel a lot of heat to the left after a long ride and even the white sub frame was also quite hot. Suggest not to ride it with shorts or sandals, you will have a leg piece kebab once you reach home. Its definitely ride able in Bangalore traffic.

The bike feels fine so far. I had a D200 so this is definitely a bit heavier, but still flickable. Having paid almost twice as much as the D200 I guess I feel a bit over cautious taking corners or zipping through tight traffic, it definitely feels expensive. Have the date/time reset error on mine too but not the ECU failure yet, clocked 500kms thus far. Returned about 21-22kmpl in Bangalore start-stop traffic and about 31 on the highway, not bad overall.

Can you check something out for me? Once your date and time reset can you try entering it in the preferences menu WHILE riding and see if anything happens?

Sure, will give it a try if I find some time this week.

Also, can any one let me know if a Security/Alarm system can be installed on the bike and if it can be done at any decent bike service center?

Thanks Dhanush. The reason I asked was that my RS200 is giving a very tough time during peak hour traffic. I normally take about 1.5 hours to travel 25km to my office everyday(Basaveshwaranagar to Marathalli-PTP). Hence, I have made up my mind to replace my bike. I started with Access 125 , but then FZ25 was an option suddenly as it has a relaxed engine, but no ABS. Now, I have gone up to considering Yamaha R3, Benelli 302R and Kawasaki Ninja 300. I wanted to know if Duke 390 has the same problem as my bike. I dont want to come back to square one after spending almost 3 lakh rupees. Atleast for sure, I can tell that twin cylinder engines dont heat up half as much as RS200 or Duke 390's high compression engines.

Also, I would like to know from owners if you had a test ride of the bike before buying? If yes, where?

Np! The 390 is definitely the hottest looking and cooking single cylinder around, so RS 200 to 390 is not a switch for the best w.r.t heating, but I've always found it manageable all these years. To counter this i set out early in the morning for work and leave early in the evening to minimize traffic and heating (does not work always with the schedule).

I'm not sure if any Bangalore outlets are providing test rides yet, many showrooms don't have a display bike yet but try the Indiranagar outlet, they are the primary dealers and might arrange a test ride.

KTM Marathahalli is offering test rides. They have started it last Saturday. Available from 10-5

                              Hi,

I had taken the bike for a test ride before booking it from KTM Whitefield. (They did not have RTO approval at that time, but still let me take a ride where there are no cops; pretty cool of them). I have ridden the old 390 and did not buy it because of its short leg length space and hooligan attitude. It would have been very difficult to take it out on the Bangalore traffic on a daily basis. But the new 390 is much easier and the power delivery is much linear and adjustable clutch lever really helps you customize based on your comfort level. Other than the heating issue as mentioned in this thread (which I have not verified), I do not see any other problem with making the new D390 your daily ride.

Disclaimer: When I get delivery of the bike, I do not intend to use it as my daily ride since I already have an Activa.

Here are some of the issues that I'm facing with the console:

                                1. Console resets itself during a ride similar to when I turn off and turn on the ignition. When I'm riding, the console goes blank for a couple of seconds, then I see the "Ready to Race" message and it starts again. Weird.

                                2. Date and Time settings reset themselves.

                                3. On an iPhone, when I call through the Sena, I can hear the audio. When I receive a call, if I answer using the controls on the handlebar, the audio doesn't play on the Sena.

Anybody else faced these issue? Hopefully these issues can be sorted through a software update.

One other thing I face is a tiny amount of vibration somewhere in the front. Not sure where its coming from - console or the tank. It is noticeable at the initial rpms but goes away as the rpms increase. Nothing too bad but a tid bit irritating. Anyone figure this out?
