Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
If its the drive chain then as long as its properly adjusted and lubed you can safely ignore it.Originally posted by Siby.dj View PostSad but it's true
Since there is metal to metal contact it is bound to make some noise irrespective of what you do, some expensive lubes are said to reduce the noise but personally I'd say its simply not worth the hassle.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Greetings to fellow XBHPians!!!
I just brought home this very beautiful motorcycle 2 weeks back. Racing Black [emoji469].
I have been wondering if our bike needs some protection for moderate to heavy rain.
I stay in Mumbai and travel to office everyday (around 18KM roundtrip) and weekends are for short trips
I understand that bikes are designed keeping in mind that these will be driven in rains too.
My main concerns are the fuel lid, console... and any other water-sensitive part that might be better off with some covering. How has your experience been?
Also, the chain will need lubrication often right?Last edited by parsh; 06-11-2019, 11:44 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
I had ridden it yesterday during the heavy mumbai rains and I didn't face any issues with water. I would recommend inspecting the chain and lube it accordingly. Our bikes are bad for pillions when riding in the rains. They will definitely have mud all over the leg and back even at regular road speeds. Congratulations bro. Welcome to the club.[emoji1]Originally posted by parsh View PostGreetings to fellow XBHPians!!!

They'll come back when the links dry up a bit, but then again as said before ignore it completely.Originally posted by Siby.dj View PostUpdate. The noise has vanished suddenly after I rode my bike during heavy rainsMotorcycling Experience:

Yes , Eventhough bikes are built to operate under different weathers we should take care of it.Originally posted by parsh View PostGreetings to fellow XBHPians!!!

Always remember that parking in open areas during a sunny/rainy day will have adverse effects. Prolonged parking in sunlight may cause exposure to high UV radiations andso the paint would start fade
And similarly parking in rainy places (often) will cause rusting of metal parts and failure of electricals.
*So it's better to find a shelter for parking !!!
And last thing as you've mentioned that the drivechain will also get messed up with rain water and needs Lubing. Normally a well lubed chain can be ridden for more than 500 Kms. Try TVS TRU spray for Lubing (after cleaning the chain), as it's too good .

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Yeah I too suspect something similar as from my repeated inspection this noise will come only at very specific times. That is when riding through the same stretches of road at similar RPMs, and disappears in other places. So the noise is not always present when engine is running. But 100% sure it is from engine and not drive chain, wheels etc.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostCould be anything from a loose mount or a pinch bolt to timing chain/cam clatter.
First thing I'd suggest would be to change the oil and see if the noise persists, if it is the oil that was at fault then you'd be better off with shorter drain intervals.
Taking in for 4th free service in couple of days, will talk to ASC people. But from my past experiences I am not hopeful about them identifying and/or fixing it.sigpicOm Yamahaya Namaha...praise the lord!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hi everyone
I have an observation, there is occasional KHAT KHAT sound from handle during hard braking & on potholes, what could be the reason. My bike has only 3100 km on odo & this problem occurred from last two weeks.
Thanks

How much Kms on your ODO, I hope you must be using TVS TRU4 FS oil and I too noticed that the engine oil level got decreased during long rides.Originally posted by [email protected] View PostHello everyone I came across one problem ii n my bike the engine oil is decreasing by 80 to 100 ml every 1000 kms is it okay or is thier any problem in my bike no smoke from exhaust once I got 680 ml after drain in 2000kms help me
But whatsoever after crossing 10,000 KMS it feels alright. Now I have crossed 14,000 Kms while the last oil change was @9700 Kms. The senior ASC said that the oil drain interval for TRU 4 FS is 6000 Kms.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Make sure that there's no oil leakage anywhere from the engine. It's recommended to top-up the oil and check after a 1000 Kms.Originally posted by [email protected] View PostHello everyone I came across one problem ii n my bike the engine oil is decreasing by 80 to 100 ml every 1000 kms is it okay or is thier any problem in my bike no smoke from exhaust once I got 680 ml after drain in 2000kms help me
