  • 2 Days 250 Kms

    Dear All

Done a small road trip of 250 kms in 2 days (Faridabad-Delhi-Rohtak-Delhi). Spent as much time with new animal as much possible during these two days. My Observations are as follows:
    1. Vibrations still present but who cares after buying second RTR in a row.
    2. Mid range is plentiful and felt more powerful than 160, just 2 more bhp do wonders
    3. Looks are subjective but as I said earlier new design grows on you slowly.
    4. We loved older design so much that we will take lil time to adjust with new design but I am sure we will do
    5. Quality is top notch for material except those shitty TVS tires.

Enjoy the pics. Will write a complete ride report soon.

I want both. Vyde is more practical than our stock rear tyre and looks better too but R15 v1, IMO, looks very small but is definitely a wonderful tyre. I also love the glue like stickness of R15 v1 tyre but its looks are deal-breaker. It's like comparing HTC one x and SGS3

      • @Rocker Congrats for the new beast. Those pics are great too. Enjoy.
P.S Doesn't the new beast have 'apache' written in a 3d sticker?

                  • Review, Ride report and questions

                    Review:

Looks: I will say Controversial. I myself hated the spy pics and pledged not to go for it but when I saw the thing in reality it was different story. Its not bad at all. All the touches are nicely done.

Quality: As we all know this is a bullet proof bike, punish it and it will ask for more. Paint quality, plastic quality is all nice.

Ergonomics: This is spot on as always and there is no difference in riding stance and agility of the beast.

Engine: Rev happy and a bit smoother than my previous RTR 160 engine. Vibes are present though but not to bother you. Power delivery is smooth and engine feels powerful with the twist of the right wrist.

Gear Box: It felt quite smooth to me and as my Kms increased on ODO the engine started to get a bit rough and got some false neutrals as well. But I think first service will solve these issues.

Changes: DRLs look mean and tail cowl is also sharpened and widened for more aggressive look from behind. Saddle design this time is awesome with dual material seat cover from ABS 180. Rider seat is wider and merged straight into tank without any slope as earlier. This combination gives a relaxed and testis friendly ride. Rear seat is a bit longer than previous (marginally).

Strange things: Indicator switch is placed at awkward position and I was not able to use it for left turns as it was felling out of reach for my thumb. After 250 kms a key chain like sound started coming from dome whereas I was using naked key (Will check it with Mech at first service).

                    Ride Report:
                    Total Distance Covered 250 Kms
Speed 65 Max and 55 Avg
Butt and Engine Breaks 30 Kms Avg
                    Brakes Good
                    Power Enough
                    Tires Sh*t
                    Headlight Visibility Average
                    Looks(IMO) Good

Questions: 1. The best engine oil for this engine as I am not big fan of TVS TRU4?
                    2. Best tires with same profile RTR 180?

I want a change because when TVS changed TRU4 from 20W40 to 15Wx my RTR 160 never felt that good as it used to be.

I am still using Tru4 for the past 27k kms, had Castrol Power1 in between for 1-2k kms (go it from free from xbhp) Haven't found anything wrong with TRU4 yet
