I have bought the ABS version in first batch delivery last year and i must say it has saved me from atleast 3-4 incidents over the last year. the moment i feel that brake level jumping up on panic braking i know i was saved from a fishtailing. It is worth the 10K paid extra.
But once I really felt that ABS can cause accident. we rode to muthathi from bangalore in three bikes, mine ABS and other two non-ABS 180s. In a curve + steep down there was gravel on the road and the guy in the 180 in front of me went off the road due to slipping and fell down. I was right behind him and thumped on the brakes. But to my horror, both front and rear levers started jerking off and i kept rolling towards him lying on the roadside. Finally managed to swerve round almost 5-6 inches off him and stopped another 10 meters away.
Ofcourse it was our fault to ride almost 40-50 on the hill range but it was the first steep curve and we missed the sudden steep down.

That was the day i hoped I didn't have abs. I would have preferred falling down on the street rather than ramming onto him!

I just came back from SVC to replace the pads after clocking 12k. My personal advice, forget what SVC ppl recommend. Check the Disc plate to see if it has started showing up the signs of crates around it. If yes, time to change. Else, we'll shell out 1k for the plate rather than 250INR for the pads. Afterall, we dont hv to lose anything by spending 250INR every 6 months of usage to maintain the health of the disc plates. The pads cost 256INR with tax and 150INR labour in bangalore.

      Between 2k-25k rpm ? or
      3k-3.5k rpm?
It would be good to shift between 4.5 to 5.5k, ofcourse after your run-in period.

[QUOTE=Rtrlover83;831222]Bro i have clocked 16,700Kms and not yet replaced the front disk pads. Still got more than enough bite upfront. And i use the front one's more than the rear! 70%, sort of.

Not very good bro.. I would recommend to change it every 5-6k atleast for better braking with healthy disc plates.

No probs, bro. Further here, I also notice that the braking not at all effective as earlier.. am afraid if i already need to change my plates now. I'll share further after I drive some more kms..

Everything has a limit bro....your saying about braking in something that moves....gravel.....which is not easy even if it had the best brake in the world........besides if the bike didn't do that then you might have probably skidded onto your frnd too.....not sayin that the other way of running the bike into him is better.....maybe you were able to swerve away due to the control you had due to the ABS

And next time ride safe dude
When I Ride my bike I don't feel like a common man.

That is the thing which makes my bike special, me special, the whole ride seem exceptional .

Not to offence anybody, but dont you think you are expecting too much from ABS ? I am happy the way it works :-) Its worth of spending 10k,..... IMO

Every bike & Biker have limits... Even SBKs with soft rubber tyres will go down. & for TVS tyres, they are light years away from being sticky..
You control the bike, NOT the other way around..
                  Ride SAFE..

True Guys, even I told the same, it was wrong on my part to ride such way on a unknown terrain. Even I wrote in the post itself that I feel the 10K is worth for ABS.
All i meant was that sometime the over dependency on ABS might lead to accident. The ABS might work in adverse to the expectation too.

                        • riding without TPS?

Hmm im fed up with this TPS problem of my 180!
i replaced two times but still its faulty!
if i remove the TPS it rides damn Good!
so i finally decided to chuck the TPS! Is it ok to ride without it?

                          And

This problem is there from a long time!

When ever i accelerate even a little the bike jumps and then its fine!
happens only when i turn the acc bar at the beginning!
there is no smooth acceleration ! What may be the problem!?

Same here. As I've posted earlier, got my second TPS (2006 stock) few weeks back. Fitted it, but hiccups are still there. Day before yesterday got another one for 125INR and is from 05/2012 stock. The dealer ordered it for me. Today going to try this one and let's see.

The SVC has this tendency to unplug the TPS when we complain about hiccups. BUT, this thing HAS to be on and faultless, or else there would be lag (the engine won't respond quickly to throttle inputs), lack of smoothness and the exhaust would back fire as well.

Yes a little bit effort will do it , same happens with me too...

no need to worry just wash it out with R3 or Collin 'if you have" or put little bit effort while washing it with Water (U can use Warm water too for better result) .. it will clean that yellowish/Orange mark....
