(typical careless/ignorant attitude from TVS svc)
So.. The question is PREMIUM OR NORMAL...
If Premium is good , using Additive is better
Good thing u guys brought up this topic.. I was confused with which fuel to use from day 1..
I think this answers it well..

The difference between normal fuel & branded fuel (speed, power, xtra premium) is that branded fuels are higher octane fuels. The difference is that higher octane fuels - like power/speed - have a tendency to decrease engine-knocking and burn without detonating.
These fuels are best suited if your vehicle's engine has a higher compression ratio (check your vehicle manual).
For your bike, it depends on the engine. If your bike has a high compression ratio, a low octane fuel (normal ones are 85-87 octane) will cause more engine knocking. Speed/Power/Xtra Premium (90-91 octane) will reduce engine knocking & will give you better performance if you operate your bike at high rpm's.
Overall, if you have a 100cc bike, high octane fuel'll do you no good. But if you have a performance bike like the Apache RTR-Fi160, you must go for branded fuels.
150cc & above bikes have a higher compression ratio. My Fiero F2 has a 9.4:1 compression ratio & the RTR Fi160 has a 9.5:1 ratio.
You must've heard that superbikes can't use normal fuels. Thats because they have ratio's reaching 12:1. So they need 100 octane or even more.
If you have a bike with a high compression ratio, use premium fuels. Your engine will perform much better when compared to unleaded fuel. For a low performing bike, scooter or a scooty, these'll be useless. Hope you've got your answer. Don't listen to people without any technical knowledge.
Higher octane fuel may even increase your mileage by a few Kms, though its not necessary.

    • But, after my thorough research, i found there shoudnt be any major difference in mileage according to numerous forums. But a few of my own friends still claim they r hv seen atleast 4-5kms difference in mileage, which makes me hard to believe now.

However, since i'll be travelling this weekend on Shell under the hood, i should be able to see the difference.

My average has been 40-42 on regular so far, on 1 year old 180 ABS. Rest can share your experience here.

I have used Shell Super Unleaded & i got a mileage of 50-52 at a constant speed of 60-70 kmph. Have got better pick up, top speed as well.
I have also faced a "White smoke" problem (according to TVS svc).( I faced problems with the bike when returning from ooty, luckily it started after exiting Bandipur )The spark plug was damaged & the cylinder head needed attention. The mechanic told me NOT to use Shell fuel.He also added that the octane number is very high(shell super unleaded) & riding at a constant high rpm will/can lead to engine ceasing..
After that incident i switched back to Shell normal unleaded..

Yup..the problem popped up because I was at some 110kmph from Bandipur till Maddur ,constantly. Or The problem was caused due to high octane fuel+ high rpm+ high altitude (less oxygen). I'm not sure
But my dad's TVS Victor runs on the super unleaded & he has not face a single problem till date.. ( may be he ride calmly on road)

So...how can a brake pad get worn out in one day & kept at svc.. Simple, TVS svc has replaced the pads with some other bike's worn out pads.
Even if u go to a personal mech. he wont have genuine spares & you need to keep an eye on him as well. The best thing to do is, befriend a mechanic in TVS svc. u can get spares & he wont flick original parts.Or befriend the manager of the svc & get the service done through him
Well how much time it takes for a servicing, I am willing to stand in garage/svc to see what they are doing, Even i would be happy doing some of things by myself (learning prospective)...

Else, you'll hv to wait untill it completely replaces the old fuel. Also, i can suggest you to drive as much as possible on reserve, so that last few drops will take u till the nearest fuel station.. try the one which suits u.

              Any good Reputed mechanic/Garage in Mumbai ? Quick & Trust-able ?

Yesterday I was riding in Heavy Rain complete wait road, everything was working fine except rear Tyre, it was scary for me i mean i was feeling like i am riding with Puncture Tyre or Flat Tyre with Zero Grip (I mean it), ASAP i tries to reach above 30kmph, some weird feeling use to develop which got more scary when i am trying to turn my bike, Exactly remember the Game GTA Vice City where in if your Tyre get puncture your Car/Bike used to slide Left right, i wasn't able to brake easily too, there was lots of scary moments where i felt if i didnt slowed down or didnt straighten my bike i would have crashed a bad crash with Heavy Truck running back to back on that Ghat kind a Road, Was scary ... I am not sure what was the problem but there is something wrong With Tyre, Air Pressure or My handling of bike, however 3rd point is heartbreaking for me but can be possible, but i am riding same bike from last 2 weeks never felt any such issue ... Help ... And whats the Tyre pressure in both tyre ? I would like to know this

it happens check your tyre pressure then and TVS tyres are made of hard compound so grip is very less in rain

Fill slightly more air pressure while riding in the rain..Say 26-28 in front & 33-34 in the rear. This helps channel the water on the road away from underneath the tire.

It take quite a bit of time. Say you enter your bike at 9am at the SVC, your bike is ready by 4-5pm.. & generally SVC do not allow the customers entering the work shop..

We should reduce the tire pressure during rains rather than increasing it
