  • ABS in my words

NOw the Question is, would ABS helped a RTR or CBR on that oil patch?? won't these bike have skid ?? How much does a 2 wheeler ABS is trusted able in such situation. Some senior technically sound person siad that a mature rider won't need an ABS but still it's nice to have a safety feature!!! water and gravels are little different from oil.
As far as I've been behind ABS, it isn't what really others think. It doesn't make us immortal. Instead, adds a point towards safety, making it better than locking up the wheel all of a sudden. As the basics explain, it sequentially releases the wheels from lock position automatically, though the break lever is kept hard pressed. As we can notice, there will still be a wheel lock for a fraction of a second, which feels like a constant jerk in the entire break system of the vehicle.

Now, coming back to your scenario, this is more of a road grip with tyres than brakes into the play. As you've mentioned, the bike, when entered the oily surface, instantly loses its road grip, which causes lose the balance too with zero road grip. No matter what brakes we have, before we cn even think of brakes, we would be biting the tarmac. Car, on the other hand, not necessarily lose balance, and hence, will be able to drive through. I reckon, the car driver wouldnt hv applied brakes, which is a bad idea.

So, bottom line is, ABS helps you use the brake efficiency till the last bit of wheel lock and thus, providing you superior control on disc braking system. Though an expert can break better than a ABS controlled bike, it entirely depends on the surface, distance and various other factors.

You can watch a TVS demo on icy track with and without ABS to know the result of ABS feature. I'm sure they would have definitely had their best rider behind the beast.
Dont defeat your enemy.. destroy him. offer hope then crush it..fuel his ego then break it.. finally. deploy ABS..execute the curve..victims defeat assured.. victims confidence destroyed...!!! All with my Beast.. Racing beast....!!!!

Yes even I think the same. Does this means any well mature rider would not need an ABS??

As I had mentioned earlier, no one is matured enough to predict the situations on track. It all depends on what the situation is. Even a highly matured formula 1 driver might panic and do nothin than stall his car on track. That's where this piece of ABS comes handy. It's gives you added advantage of braking hard in any given circumstances. Scenario is what decides how good ABS does. Hope it's pretty clear now..

            • Hey guys I know that the recommended air pressure for the tires are 25 & 28 for front & rear respectively. But are these applicable only to the factory fitted TVS Sri Chakra tires or are they the same for other company tires also? I'm running Dunlops on my bike.

Tyre has no relation with the air pressure. Go around with what is recommended in the manual.

                • TPS query

After this mumbai rains my bike has again started giving hiccups at low rpms. After reading the forums i think this might be a TPS problem.

Can the TPS be cleaned or serviced at home. I have all the tool multimeter etc. Can it be done?

Actually I was wondering that different tires have different curvatures (curvature of the surface contacting the road) and tread patterns right? So for a certain air pressure for e.g. 26psi the surface area contacting the road will be different for these tires isn't it? Then there should definitely be a change in grip levels between these tires.

Congrats...do post some pix of your new ride. BTW you skid due to that poor TVS Tyres, nothing wrong with the regular RTR's. But I must say, ABS system of RTR is excellent, if it can hold Tvs Tyres from skidding then imagine its performance with high quality soft compound tyres
