  • @Vrags- What's the cost of Motul 7100 oil?
Btw, i had sent an email to Atlantic Lubricants about availability of Motul 5100 10w40.Below is what they replied.

    Dear Mr. Krishna:

Thank you for your mail and your interest in Motul products.

Currently, we do not sell 5100 4T 10W40 in India. However, we have superior
    product, 7100 4T 10W40 in our product range. 7100 4T 10W40 is a 100%
synthetic motorcycle engine oil and is developed using Motul's Ester
    Technology.

If you want a top-notch racing product, you may try 300V Factory Line 4T
10W40. 300V Factory Line is our top-of-the line, 100% synthetic motorcycle
engine oil developed using Motul's "Double Ester Technology", and is
supplied to MotoGP teams like Monster Yamaha Tech3, to whom we are technical
partners. It is, quite simply, the best motorcycle engine oil available in
    the market.

Yes. You're right. After a slight negotiation, I got it for 650INR. I didnt find 5100 anywhere in JC road. I opted for 7100 (10W40) coz its the only closest one to our recommended 10W30. The next variant (300V) would cost 950INR with 15W50 specs, which would be a gamble to play with our beast.

However, i should be able to feel the difference by the time i come back from our weekend trip. I'll keep you all posted with my observation, which should give you all enough info to decide on.

As Vivek has mentioned, one sentence caught my attention from Engine oil thread... It says..

"If your engine needs an oil that is at least as thick as 40 at 100C , you can use a bit thicker one - W50 ..even if its not ideal - because its heavier than requried and tougher to pump it ."

Considering that, 7100 with 10W40 against TVS 10W30 should be the perfect choice. hoping for the best..

            • Should our bikes run on mineral oil during RUN-IN period?

While all these years we were studying that mineral does wonders in building, tuning, setting up the piston rings, walls, crank shaft etc....etc... how are we being fooled by TVS? what made them to kick start their Bikes on SS oil right from the factory? All the logics we had studied makes no sense to me... Can someone explain?

              • Petrol Additives

Guys, a tip for Apachians out here..

Use Petrol additive once in 6 months atleast along with Fuel. It costs 5rs each and available at spares store in any SVC. Use 1 pack with 2 litres of fuel. It cleans carburetor, spark plug and few other tune ups.

                • The Tru4 Premium 10W30 is a semi-synthetic engine oil alright, but they do not contain esters which are used in a Motul 5100. Tru4 Premium will be enough for run-in and the continued initial miles.

P.S. esters are a class of synthetics and are highly stable molecules.

                  Pros are:
                  . Good solvency
. Very good low/extreme temperature performance.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

I think you should add this to normal unleaded fuel.. Premium fuels (xtra premium, speed, power, etc) already contain additives which enhance power, mileage, etc.(claimed by companies). Or is this totally different additives

But you are facing a gear shifting problem,right..?? I would advice you NOT to change to FS oil right now just get your bike serviced the way the TVS svc wants to do it. The first service is quite important & must be done correctly.During second or after second service shift over to FS.
Just enjoy the vibrations of the new beast as of now...
@Iceman :- Yes Enjoying my ride alot :-)

@Vivek bhai :- Advice taken, also heard 3rd Servicing should be done by private/personal mechanic then TVS as they change our original parts in last servicing...

5th free service is the last of TVS service. I think TVS svc DO change the parts. before the 5th service my bike's front brakes were spot-on,now it has become very weak.I went back to svc to get it inspected, they told that the pads are worn out.
So...how can a brake pad get worn out in one day & kept at svc.. Simple, TVS svc has replaced the pads with some other bike's worn out pads.
Even if u go to a personal mech. he wont have genuine spares & you need to keep an eye on him as well. The best thing to do is, befriend a mechanic in TVS svc. u can get spares & he wont flick original parts.Or befriend the manager of the svc & get the service done through him

Yes they are. However, adding up these additives once in a while should do the job pretty much better than those fuel standards. Yet to get an expert opinion on this.

True. But i suggest have manager feared and Mech a good pal with u. It does the job in both the ways, as it has for me. While Manager is afraid if I bring up new issues, mech is so freindly that he gives tips to roll over the issue to get it settled. You sure can do this as well.

However you do, better you wait for your 2nd refill to see any impact of premium fuel. I suggest you start with a pure turbo fuel rather than mixing with old one. Else, you'll hv to wait untill it completely replaces the old fuel. Also, i can suggest you to drive as much as possible on reserve, so that last few drops will take u till the nearest fuel station.. try the one which suits u.

I have spoken to 3-4 TVS svc persons related to the right fuel to be filled. 2 svc persons told me NOT to USE premium fuel. & Premium fuel contains additives which tend to damage piston rings, valves, etc. 1 svc person told me, USE PREMIUM fuel , it keeps the carb & piston/cylinder clean & will give better power/mileage/pick-up. 1 svc told me, do wat ever you want & if u get a problem, come to us.. (typical careless/ignorant attitude from TVS svc)
So.. The question is PREMIUM OR NORMAL...
If Premium is good , using Additive is better
Good thing u guys brought up this topic.. I was confused with which fuel to use from day 1..
