Hey! Congrats on selecting the ABS one.
I got my ABS just 20 days back. And it's a good choice.
but more and more in starting to feel that the ns is a much superior engineering product. Especially the engine with 3 sparks and the mono.
And regards abs, the selling point more than stopping distance is maneuverability in crunch situations. This I don't feel is much of use.

In these 20 days I felt abs in action only once. When an idiot blindsided me by coming fast in wrong direction.but still feel dual disks would've been just as good.

Abs is a good addition, but if you have better brake bite ,good supporting chassis, tyres and a skilled hand ,you won't need it in most conditions,that's why braking of n650 ,n300 ,etc are darn good and still selling like hotcakes.
Nevertheless, 3 spark or mono isn't high tech at all ,a 1980's good Honda 250-500cc will still outperform a ns.

thanks! m going to make the payment tomorrow! i cut out NS from my list because it was so heavy as compared to apache. moreover i personally found it difficult to push it or turn it with ease because m not hefty at all and i weigh just 60 kg. going with my parents' decision too, they like TVS and felt ABS would be safe for me. Also my dad and i feel that the apache's build quality is just a bit better than the NS and it has a great road presence too! personally, i chose it because i like the beast eyes and find it more attractive than NS.

I'll get in touch with you once i get my apache delivered. where are you from, sir? I heard from my TVS dealer that I would get my apache delivered with registration on Wednesday.

You know what. You're just lucky. I'm from Hyderabad and i had to wait 3 months to get my abs beast.

And trust me. In those 3 months all I edid did was sit on xbhp pulsar and apache threads.
I was 99% sure about the beast. And I got it indeed. It was specially delivered for me, only piece in Hyderabad in 3 months
I'm not huge either. Just 5'9 and 60. But ns isn't all that heavy. It's an engineering marvel cos of its vfm
Like how tvs once looted Suzuki, bajaj essentially did that to ktm. Took the dukes engine (which is a beaut and a half) fitted in extra sparks and toned down to improve mileage. A great balanced body that has mini
al vibrations.

Yet apache has its charm my only problem is with the bloody vibrations.
the new tyres are a treat too!

Please take back those words, those are outright derogatory words, TVS - Suzuki were in a tie up, it was a win win situation for both, TVS has had its R & D since the 1980's, TVS played a huge role in the design of the Shogun. Let us not deride our own indigenous efforts.

The same with Bajaj-KTM, KTM needed investments and Bajaj wanted technology, a win win situation for both.

They are still crashing like hot cakes too. ABS is not fool proofing, its an added security measure so never confuse it for fool proofing. No matter how skilled you are, in a bad situation with dual discs you will crash. Heck people have crashed despite having ABS, so you need a skilled hand regardless. Trust me ABS is important bro dual disk/skilled hand or not.

How so? Far as I remember hero basically milked Honda for its designs right upto the point when they split up and even then they kept selling the same 150cc engine with minor mods as the unicorn. Hell they sold it against the unicorn. The final nail in the coffin is that Hero produced the new passion pro with the exact same engine and chassis as the Honda cd110 (don't believe me? Go see for yourself). They are trying to take Honda's market shares with Honda's own tech. Their only redemption will be the hx250r. Hopefully they launch soon.

The point is that in this game of collaborations between companies, hero is not with clean hands. In fact they have played the dirtiest game so far. All is forgiven because they make good bikes but its no secret that their bikes parts would fit a honda bike near perfectly.
I think the only reason Honda keeps quiet is because Hero is no threat to them and Hero still pays them royalties on their designs.

Please explain how TVS was the biggest winner and not Hero. Hero sells millions of bikes a year from Honda origin and Hero does not benefit? TVS-Suzuki bikes never sold at the same volumes as Hero Honda. I am not saying TVS did not learn anything, Suzuki were here to do business that's all, Suzuki was so reluctant to share new technology with TVS in the late 2000's, they even refused a 5 speed gear box for the Fiero.

@Balgi :- Hero has paid Honda for the engine they have used in the passion pro, they cannot use an engine just like that, Honda will sue them . The same is with the Activa engine for the Maestro.

All I am trying to saying is give TVS the respect it deserves and not make sweeping statements that TVS looted Suzuki.

.first, in the start, I had already said ,abs is a good thing.

What we have is a straight abs,not cabs, and afaik, corners are the places where people Tend to miscalculate and slip their front tyre the most .we all know ,back slips ,its fishtailing, you can control it ,front slips ,you're going down .so ,a aware ,enough skilled rider with good bike can minimize a non abs situation, except some extreme cases .
But we also have seen many duke/RC390crashing severely, going under buses ,going into sewers, they did had abs right ..? But they didn't had enough skilled/aware riders.
You gotta keep all variables correct of a equation.remember having a normal x and y makes it balanced, while having a low x (rider) and greater y (abs) can change the outcome. (Pls don't take it literally in mathematical analysis, it's somewhat of philosophical)
Also to some guys not knowing the desi-foreign tie ups. Let me cite some reason for it.
1. Lack of exp. Bajaj, tvs are just a decade old .they're (Honda ,Suzuki etc ) are decades old .
2. Globalisation, penetration of developing countries, they needed a local mask.
3. Govt FDI norms ,they couldn't just come and sell earlier their mass segment bikes ,beacause it would've raised the prices and so down the sales .
4. Sometimes ,it saves the hassle of opening franchise ,svc, etc ( bajaj has widest reach ,ktm just needs to give their bikes to bajaj ,so showroom cost etc infrastructure costs etc saved a lot ) .

will some one provide price list of spare parts of RTR180. is there spare parts dealers of tvs bikes as we have spare part dealers of other big bike makes . i want dealers at gurgaon, new delhi, or agra, jaipur.

oh okay, looks like my dealer has got the stocks just recently, thats why m getting it early. the other dealer i enquired gave 10 days waiting time. i felt NS heavier because i am a very beginner and i ve ridden only splendor and suzuki for long so far. other big bikes i ve ridden were heavier too except for duke. i felt cbr heavy, thunderbird - heaviest. so yes, its relative.

i feel you're looking back at your decision a bit or trying to compare and feel compromised. so dont think of anything higher or lower master your ride! when you feel youve grown, then start looking for ENGINEERING MARVELS at your budget the fact that youre comparing the 180 rtr with ns and not with 180 pulsar or any other 180/150 bike itself makes it an engineering marvel in its own sense! if you're comparing the non abs version and ns, then apache non abs version is also a vfm product. dont worry, having a safety feature can come to help at some time when you actually need it!

you have to appreciate the products that we get at considerably lower prices. loot or get plundered, is none of our concern so yes, if there is competition, then its for sure that we ll get awesome products lets not feel bad/ proud with tie ups and technology transfer, its just business for them, passion for the engineers working on the products and for consumers like us, its like welcoming more and more options to choose from

Why is it that no one reads posts before they quote?

No offence to you bro but I said in my post exactly what you just said in your post. ABS is added security not a substitute for real skill. but it still reduces risk considerably. And I ride a Ninja 650 every so often and I feel that it should have had ABS as it desperately needs it, though I still haven't crashed and burned for the lack of it.
Also, pretty much everyone is aware that foreign companies tied up with local companies and used them as a mask. I was merely pointing out that Hero is not the cleanest when it comes to milking a partnership. paid or not paid you can't deny that hero is in fact using Honda's own designs to compete against Honda. Honda has not sold hero any of these designs but leased them instead and Hero has until 2016 to come up with a new lineup since that is when the lease is over. and hence the tie up with EBR now. Like I said Bro only reason Honda is not suing Hero to the end of the world and back is because Hero is paying them but that ends in 2016 (source: TOI 2013 don't remember the exact date but was around the time the name was changed from HH to Hero).
This is way OT so let's end it here since in no way is this benefiting anyone on this thread.

Went to Karol Bagh. mainly to get Chain Clean and ask what all can be added on RTR and to search for BT headset

1) No aftermarket levers are there for RTR. So anyone had any luck with those?
2) The handle guard, just like D390 is available for around 1400-2000 rs pair.
3) Found lever protectors for 1400 for a pair
4) Could not find Vega BT headset and the shopkeeper was not sure whether it has Intercom or not.
