Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I have noticed a sound on my RTR 180 ABS. Its coming feom rear wheel and its like brakes are making it. In full one spin of wheel the sound come once. For reference, its similar to what we have seen on bicycles when the brake pad touches the wheel due to uneven wheel circle.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Usually it's just some kind of dirt or sand stuck between the disc and the pads. Try spraying the space between the pads with high pressure water or air.Originally posted by Ganikgagan View PostI have noticed a sound on my RTR 180 ABS. Also, my rear disc plate is always way more hotter than front. I use both front and back brakes always.Originally posted by cep View PostUsually it's just some kind of dirt or sand stuck between the disc and the pads. Try spraying the space between the pads with high pressure water or air.

One more question.
After some riding in traffic (Bangalore traffic) the engine becomes hot which is obvious but the RPM goes high and stays high at about 3K? Does anyone have explanation to this?
and also the idle RPM are not steady for me on certain occasions of cold starts it drops below 1K but after some riding the come to normal 1.2-1.3K range.BLR-RAMESWARAM-KODIAKANAL-BLR http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/3...ing-hills.html

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Many people tend to keep their right feet on the brake lever with little bit more pressure which is enough to engage brakes to little amount which cannot be noticed in normal riding. So maybe it might be the reason for it. Try to check your foot position when you are riding if its engaging the brake lever or not.Originally posted by Ganikgagan View PostAlso, my rear disc plate is always way more hotter than front. I use both front and back brakes always.
I found this issue in one of my friends R15, his rear disc brake pads were getting worn out too soon. After many conclusions he figured out that it was an issue of the foot placement on brake lever.

Any DIY links for this?Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostAFR issue. Get the tuning don at svc and get the carb checked, specially the diaphragm

I remember when I had the same problem: even though I did everything right -- ride with the ball of my foot on the foot-peg, apply 60-40 braking linearly etc. -- the rear disc heated up very much even after short rides.Originally posted by msuthar25 View PostMany people tend to keep their right feet on the brake lever with little bit more pressure which is enough to engage brakes to little amount which cannot be noticed in normal riding. Try riding with the balls of your feet on the foot-pegs first, so that you can take foot placement out of the equation. If the problem still persists, then you should go to the SVC and get the rear brake inspected and adjusted.
Hope that helped

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I did. I took a short 10 km ride and kept my foot away from brake. Used only front. Still the disc plate was hot.Originally posted by cep View PostWhile msuthar25's point above might be one of the (most common) reasons, it's also possible that the rear brake pads are a tad too tight on the disc and as a reason are always partially engaged. Thanks for link.Originally posted by prateek2210 View Post
I tried the DIY. Now the 3K rpm issue is resolved, i even went for a long ride didnt noticed RPM increase when engine got heated. But i have another issue now when i am at low speeds and at significant low RPM (4K) and in 3-4th gear and giving less throttle, the bike jerks a little until i increase to an optimum level where its smooth again. What can it be?BLR-RAMESWARAM-KODIAKANAL-BLR http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/3...ing-hills.html

And as per popping, you are running lean on AFR. get a mechanic who can tune it in a good way. Jerking is also because of the sameFare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world
