  • Re: TVS Apache RTR 180

Took my bike for second free service last day. Did oil change too, though ASC guys said its not needed.
Now I can hear some noise from engine once the engine get hot. Its same sound that we hear in a RE classic 350 loud and clear. On my RTR 180 ABS it is low but there. Is it piston, or spark plug or what?

New problem. Did a road trip last day. Covered 300 KM. Facing a weird issue now. As soon as sit on bike it turns off. I need to stand and start and then again after sitting it turns off. To be exact, if I put pressure on fuel tank it happens. What type of shit this is?

Looks like some electricals, maybe the wiring harness, under the tank/seat are shorting. Get that checked.

My TVS Apache 160 sprockets and chain are wearing out very soon. In fact within 36000 Kms i have changed it thrice. the first lasted till 25000 Kms, but the second and third doesn't even last for 5000 Kms. I use to lube the chain and clean it once in 500-600 Kms. I am not sure what is causing it to wear out so soon.

I am planning to change the sprockets for the 4th time. I am planning to fit Apache 180 sprockets in my 160, for better low and mid end acceleration. Can i go with it or stick with the stock 160 sprockets.

            1. Wrong wheel alignment
            2. improper Chain Slack
            3. Using old oil to lube thinking that its oil all after.
            4. Bad quality chain / Bad riding habits.

Yes, it was issue with wiring. Thanks.

Sorry to post this on 180 thread. But since 160 thread is not very active I had to come here.
I bought RTR160 Matte Blue 5 days back.
So far only 200odd kms are done.

Today I wanted to test console and found a very odd information saying that my top speed is 134kmph. I haven't crossed 50kmph but how is this possible?
Was my bike misused by dealer or already abused by other test rider?
I remember that ODO said 7km when I took delivery but didn't check top speed there though.

Most likely being test ridden. But the top speed reflecting 134 is also an indicator of a pretty long test ride. To reach that speed the Rtr needs a little time and some distance. 7 km doesn't show much of the bike being ridden either. Get it confirmed with the asc. I doubt it could be glitch in the speedo as I believe that usually it reverts to 160 as the top speed.

I also had 133 kmph as my top speed in the console during delivery and 0.3 km on the trip meter. Svc guys told me that this is set from the factory itself and nothing to worry about this. But still you confirm from your svc.

Spoke with svc. They said its from company. Also found other guy who took bike today, same 134 was seen but his odo showed 19km. SVC said they shall reset it when I visit them for number plates.

Its just from factory. All bikes get that. Some get 132 some 133 and some 134. Its speed they do on a machine. Perfectly normal. BTW you can not do that speed in reality.

A week ago I lost my R15 (can't forget it still now) Now got a Apache rtr 180. Bike is good in all expects tourque is good ,sounds well, pickup good , braking I m Lil bit fan of it compared to my R15 but still missing that Riding pleasure, awesome cockpit, unmatched handling, those Butter smooth gears, those looking eyes, and a 6th gear for non vibrating ride.

                                Love you R15
