Should i change the cable again( just 2 months old) or will it be some other issue?. Has anyone else faced a similar issue?.
Replace the throttle position sensor positioned below the tank on the chasis. This might solve your issue.

      Jammed choke cable a possibility?

This high idle RPM thing happened on my GS once. Reason: Idle set by SVC without warming engine!

              Hey Guys,
              Warning long post.
Need help in diagnosing the issues with my Apache rtr 180 abs. Bike has completed 40000 Kms. Whenever I roll of throttle after acceleration, I get backfire from silencer.
Kind of like Phat Phat sound. Could the TPS be at fault or just plain AFR getting screwed? Mind You TPS was never changed in its entire lifespan.

Also I will be doing Preventive maintenance of my bike at home. What things should I look for that could go bad during monsoon season? Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Major points to be considering while Self Servicing of Bike.
Oil changed from Shell advance AX5 20W40 to Shell advance AX7 10W40. - Already Done - Price Rs. 477
Brake pads will be changed to new pad. - Not DONE
New chain Sprocket Set. - Not Done
DOT3 Brake oil to DOT4 Brake oil - Not Done.
Spark plug changed - Iridium or existing TVS spark Plug? - Not done
              Air Filter - Not done
Tappet Setting - not sure since I would be changing the TPS or AFR setting to be done to resolve the issue with backfire.
Sensor Cable Front and Rear to be changed - ABS has stopped working.
Speedometer showing flickering of Fuel bar - what to do for this? Don't know the position of Fuel sensor.
              New Tyres Front and Rear - MRF 90/90 R17 ZFS 49P (Rs. 1850) and MRF 110/80 R17 ZRC 57P (Rs. 2150) - Already Done.

Any more suggestions would be helpful.
Also suggest a good quality grease and most likely places I should apply this Grease.
Mind you this is my First time self-servicing my Bike.

                Hello guys.

I need a favor could you please tell me where can i get my carburetor tuned in Bangalore for optimum mileage. My bike is Apache 160 RTR beast 2014 model. The reason is, i am getting very low mileage 37 in city. So please help me. I am even planning to change my carburetor if tuning does't work. i checked with Apache spare parts, Apache carburetors are very costly can you guys suggest any replacement because long back i had seen a bajaj pulsar v3 carburetor same as Apache 160. Thanks in advance.

This looks good! Did you try off-roading and/or riding on a wet surface after changing to this tyre? Also, do you see any noticeable change in the bike's performance apart from the good road grip?

I did not try off-roading as such, but I commute 2-3 km per day on dirt roads. I did not try the tyre on wet roads, but did try on damp ones. Compared to the old Remora, this tyre kept a straight line in almost all circumstances. Unfortunately, my front tyre is still a Remora, so, I usually ride slow on such surfaces. But, the good news is in situations where the old Remora struggled to grip the surface, this tyre tackled it as if it were nothing.

I even panic-braked twice thanks to jay-walkers, and I got to say, I am impressed with how this tyre performed. The tyre did not lock/skid, something which was impossible with the stock one (mine in non-ABS). Regarding performance, there was no noticeable drop in mileage or acceleration. I have to test if the top-speed is affected though.

Great! I better change my tyres despite having ABS in my bike. Do we get the same tyres for the front wheel?

No. I have tried that already and could not find any which fits our front tyre. From what I've read here, zapper fy1 seems to be the best choice for the front wheel. Hopefully, I will change my front tyre too next month.

                          Hello xbhp-ians,
I own a rtr 160 with 7.6k on the odo, 4 free sevices done. I wanted to know how to some people are getting close to 50kmpl on both 180 as well as 160. I'm getting not more than 42~43kmpl. I ofcourse rev it to 5k rpm in all the gears. What can i do to get such mileage? And also.. after 1.5k kms on the odo i switched to fully synthetic shell ax7 10w40. Then ran it for another 2.5k kms. Then switched to motul 7100 10w40 fully synthetic. Ran it for another 2.5k kms.
Now back to tvs mineral oil. After using this for like 100kms i started getting tappet kinda noise from the engine. Is this normal? I checked with the svc guys and told me. This is a racing engine they would have given more tappet clearance and it is normal. I was like "you've gotta be kidding me". So is this "tick-tick" noise normal?

P.S. I know it is rtr 180 thread, but this thread is more active so posted it here.

                          Thank you.

If people are saying that they are getting 50kmpl on 180 and 160, they are bad in maths.

LOL! Ok so what I'm getting is legit? This is what evryone is getting? But i guess a 160cc should give a little more than 180cc? Dont you think?
And about the "tick-tick" sound the tappet sound, is tht normal?

If it's tappets it'll be a faster "tick-tick-tick-tick". Won't hurt to get it checked. And yeah. 43-45kmpl is the mileage you can expect. After pasting the engine on my old RTR I would get 37kmpl. Sane riding returned 42kmpl max. Never saw 50kmpl.

P.S : AX7 is synthetic based, actually. Not FS. Shell ultra is FS.
