Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Guys, does anyone have this problem, where the chain is adjusted for proper slackness, but after riding for a few kms, it becomes so tight and starts making noises(like ktrk.ktrk)?? I have this problem since a long time..then again i have to losen the axle bolts and re-adjust it. Even after getting it done from the service station this problem was seen. Why's this problem?

Facing same problem in RTR 200. Don't have any solution to this problem though!!Originally posted by Siddhartha.S View PostGuys, does anyone have this problem, where the chain is adjusted for proper slackness, but after riding for a few kms, it becomes so tight and starts making noises(like ktrk.ktrk)?? Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Improper Rear Wheel alignment during chain adjustment process could caused this problem. You need to adjust the alignment nuts (#10) on both sides to get it rectified. Your rear axle rod needs to be perfectly 90°to the song arm. If it was mistakenly set @ 85°, after a ride the axle rod would try to adjust itself to 90° angle which makes your chain even more tight. Try it out or give it to experienced mechanic for a few bucks~₹20Originally posted by Siddhartha.S View PostIt's so bizarre!! It just becomes tighter?! Logically it should become looser!!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Yes I know that would happen.. i adjust the wheel alignment too, using a measuring tape, and also i check for proper 35-45mm slackness. That's what makes it bizarre.Originally posted by jeevamaestro View PostImproper Rear Wheel alignment during chain adjustment process could caused this problem. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Thanks for sharing.... Call it a coincidence or whatnot... I just was checking rtr200 forum and came here to ask if anyone had the workshop manual, and there it is!!Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostDiscovered this - not much detailed but it adds to the service manual that is already doing rounds in the internet. Should apply to RTR160/180.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Guys, i recently did a long ride, Bengaluru to Chikmagaluru. I noticed that the bike wouldn't go more than 100 without feeling strained. My bike has done 11700kms now. What astonished me more is that, guys on FZ v2.0, were easily overtaking me, with pillion, whereas i alone on the bike was struggling to do 100kmph. (RTR 160 btw) is this common?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Clean your carburetor & airfilter and check your tps & throttle cable. If this doesn't solve your problem then take it to your trusted mechanic or svc. 👍Originally posted by Siddhartha.S View PostGuys, i recently did a long ride, Bengaluru to Chikmagaluru. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Thank you! But throttle cable is alright and I've cleaned the airfilter myself. Also the chain started getting tighter i had to stop several times jus to re adjust the chain.Originally posted by harshil3604 View PostClean your carburetor & airfilter and check your tps & throttle cable. May be I've to check the tps. What exactly should i check in the tps?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I guess i found the solution to this. I was re-adjusting the chain and axel, and noticed that while tightening the axel bolt, it used to move the axel slightly backwards, making it go out of alignment, and hence the chain tightens, as explained by jeevamaestro. Try to check this may be it'll solve the problem. I haven't had this problem in a while now.Originally posted by Nitish Singla View PostFacing same problem in RTR 200. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
My ODO is at 48900, I had serviced my bike before 4300K kms. For that service i filled Motul 3T FS oil. When i drained the oil to replace it came out close to 200-300 ml only. I was surprised to see the FS oil had disappeared. I have not seen any oil leaks on engine neither on ground. There isnt smoke coming out of exhaust which can indicate engine burning it. What can be other issue apart form the Long duration of oil change?BLR-RAMESWARAM-KODIAKANAL-BLR http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/3...ing-hills.html
