Jerking at low rpm ( mostly at and around 3k) rpm is just pissing me off badly now. No matter how much i try to ignore it its too evident when im moving in slow traffic. Reported it to the SVC guys but they couldnt solve the problem. The engineer even drove the bike but he tells me he couldnt see any such thing. If this thing isnt solved by them i may be forced to sell my bike. Its really irritating.You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

its just a matter of proper tuning of the carb.. I had this prob, after i messed with the carb... both at low rpm and high rpm... so when i went to the guy who fitted the K&N filter, I told him about it... and he tuned the carb (there are two setting, one for idle and the other for cruising i think).. once that was done, the problem vanished.
Find a good experienced mech and get him to tune the carb for you... believe me, it will solve the issue...

At 3K in any gear bike should not jerk. My few suggestions are:Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostJerking at low rpm ( mostly at and around 3k) rpm is just pissing me off badly now. 1) Try and get your spark plugs cleaned and AFR retuned.
2) If necessary cleaning of carburreter.
3) Check Air filter(I strongly believe that it is not culprit here, but precaution is better.)
4) Check if jerks are arising when on a constant throttle or speed OR they creeps up when you open the throttle??

Just clean the small or low jet and it will solve your problem.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostJerking at low rpm ( mostly at and around 3k) rpm is just pissing me off badly now. And as lijok told tune your carb after the cleaning.The Magician"

The SVC guys had tuned the carb when i reported this problem the first time.Originally posted by lijok View Postwo... dont do something like that buddy...

But that didnt solve the issue. And i dont get the jerks at higher rpms. Only at and around 3k.
The jerks are there when im riding on a constant throttle.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostAt 3K in any gear bike should not jerk. My few suggestions are:

The engineer told me that they would clean the carb at my next servicing. Now does that include cleaning the jets?Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostJust clean the small or low jet and it will solve your problem.

I knew one day I would eventually fall with the stupid TVS tyres. I was riding between 50 and 60kmph, on a right hander turn on the highway, on a bridge, I wasnt even leaning much and WHAM! I did a 10 to 15 meter slide. I was wearing full body protection so i didn't get hurt, but my jacket and knee pads looks as if it's been sliced right through. Just got the bike back from the SVC and got all damaged parts replaced. Now I'm really gonna change the tyres.

Stand on his head while the SC guy cleans your carb, otherwise he wont do it even after giving you in writing.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View Post

and make sure he takes out both the jets individually, cleans them with a toothbrush by dipping it in clean petrol then blows high pressure air through them.The Magician"

Sad to hear about your fall ,but TVS tyres are not that bad in dry tarmac specially in summers where the tar roads almost melts making anything made up of rubber stick like glue.Originally posted by iBerry View PostI knew one day I would eventually fall with the stupid TVS tyres. Yeah the TVS tyres are good in dry roads, when I fell the road wasn't wet but it was in the shaded area, and was kinda tilting for the rain water to flow across. I ride through this same road every 5 days and eventually reach this spot after 93kms and never once did I fall. Although I did have a similar experience on a RTR160 (the one without the tank scoops). It was on this same road, on similar conditions, on a shaded part but not wet either. And that time I really hurt myself, I lost confidence on my old RTR160 and eventually sold it. From what I can remember, I did feel the front lose grip. Last wednesday I did an 806km ride in one day with jam packed saddle bags and half of the ride was through long curvy roads and not once did the tyres lose grip. I also increased my top speed recorder from 125 to 129 and got an average 0 to 60 of 4.7sec and the bike performed flawlessly. Oh well....

hehe... dont worry about the fall bro... consider it part of our biking life... yet another day, yet another fall... leave it behind, but take away the experience gained....Originally posted by iBerry View PostYeah the TVS tyres are good in dry roads, when I fell the road wasn't wet but it was in the shaded area, and was kinda tilting for the rain water to flow across. only unleaded petrol is available here(and I think elsewhere too) Buddy and remember from April it is BS-IV in major Cities and from October 2010 ,BS-III standards for whole India.and I fill from a known petrol pump(BPCL).If you meant "premium" petrol ,even roadside mechanics will warn "it can consume piston rings".... kind of advices.always stayed away from premium petrol.In Mine case ,it does not seems to be a clogged carb jet etc.Given the Bike Yesterday to tvs service.hopes they will check the conditions of valves.Originally posted by krishnan6015 View PostPetrol might also be the culprit. Do use only un-leaded petrol . I faced similar problem when I was using Shell petrol. Once I switched back to HP everything became normal.Last edited by prakash_mvpa; 03-31-2010, 02:24 AM.

@guitarfreak
Even my bike had the same hiccup issue(though it was mild).I only noticed it while accelerating slowly/while riding at constant 3k rpm. After i complained about the issue in the svc, they completely disassembled the carb and cleaned the individual components including the jets. But then opening, cleaning and fitting the carb is one thing and the tuning is another.Tuning is what is utmost important and there will be significant difference in performance(read:loss) if not set properly.
