Very sorry for your lose brother. You should get your money only after the final police report. The insurance company will deduct the NORMAL deduction and you will get around 1.07 (I think). Private - FAST(30-60 days), govt. - super Slow (60-90 days). KEEP CALM. Your licence is not a problem. The money will be in your bank account.

If you have done the insurance from the show room (RE tie up insurance company) than there is CHANCE to get it fast as you are their NEXT NEW customer.
HOPE it clears, best of luck.

        Hi Ritabroto,

You mentioned you have an LMV Driving license and not a Motorcycle driving license. (correct me if i understood wrong) If this is true then this can really make an insurance claim null and void. However in case of accident the insurance would be definitely denied without a valid license, but in this case (of theft) you can try and make your case with the insurer and see if they can support your claim.

As to the IDV mentioned in policy document, in case of total loss of vehicle you should get the complete amount (as mentioned) after deducting any penalties and/or processing charges.

As to claim settlement, and within how many days you would get the amount, that largely depends on the insurer and how their system works.

This may not sound very helpful but far chance if the spot where you parked the bike was in scope of any CCTV camera you may have some leads to begin with.

I feel for you brother, just a scrape on our bike makes ones blood boil, then theft would be really disheartening.

Yeah I have done through RE. Since I bought it in kolkata so all my payments & formalities were done in kolkata itself. So what do you suggest shall I start the procedure from Kolkata or Ghy?? Surveyor has already photographed the place and I just need to submit the docs.

          1. Yeah I have LMV license but during the purchase of the bike I think I have submitted my DL copy to RE. If it is not valid for insurance then they should have informed me then & there. Right?
If I couldn't get my money then I don't have any possibilities of buying another RE.
          2. My bike was parked just opposite a big jewellery shop & they have CCTV cam but I don't think they would allow me to have a look because I don't have proper authority. I will tell the police though. But like rest of India here is the police is worthless. After talking with the local people, I think the parking attendant have led the bastards to my bike. But I can't prove it though.
IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO RISK IT ALL, THEN YOU DON'T WANT IT BAD ENOUGH

Sometimes this problem may occur in neutral, if it doss you should definitely check for spark plugs and contacts. In a carb bike sudden acceleration will have a dead zone before pick up. This problem is pretty common and I tackle it by shifting down. Let's me know if there is a better solution
            Dear friend,
I have changed both spark plugs and carburetor hoses.Including break pads it coasted me 1300.Problem marginally reduced. But mechanic told me their is a problem in carburetor slider. He opened it and showed it to me , some scratches are there on the upper side of the slider (probably happened because of mudded fuel).I will change the slider in next service.

Hi all, need information against the INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. As per my info RE is deliberately changing the INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (displays Trip, odometer, Speed, Fuel level, Clock etc.) through out all TBTS after 2014 models. The NEW instrument cluster will have 3 bolts instead of 4.

This is MY INFORMATION. I may be WRONG. PLEASE INFORM if u have any.

              Thank you.

For Pt#2. Find a cop who may be willing to talk, get into his good books, see if there is any (fruitful) way to pursue Them and to get the cops to review the cctv footage (in your presence) and get any leads. Worth one shot to get the bike. (Unless the claim is settled)

For Pt#1. Licence copy is needed while issuing insurance. As they have gone ahead and given you the insurance, you can hold them to their word and get your claim settled. as you said surveyor has already begun his task, Him And Whoever He Coordinates with, are the best resource to know whether or not are their any hindrances in getting the claim settled and whether or not is there anything that you can do to ensure the claim is settled in your favour.

Good luck mate, I sure hope your claim is settled hassle free! If you find the bike that would really be even more nice !

                      Hello fellow riders!

Hope you're all doing good. My brother wants a Thunderbird 350 to replace his Hero Xtreme.

We've looked around and the price seems to be quite high here (1.65L). Would you guys advise to buy it nonetheless?

Now my questions to the owners are:

                      1. Is it worth buying the bike now or should we wait for the new versions?

                      2. How is the reliability of the bike?

                      3. Is the price high here only or is this the case everywhere?

                      4. Is the stock exhaust unbearably loud?

                      5. How is the ground clearance of the bike?

                      6. Is the run in period really 3K Kms? What mileage can we expect in the city and highway?

                      Thanks in advance. Happy riding!

                        1. It is absolutely worth buying but if your issue is price then check with other nearby dealers.

                        2. Reliability is very good if you follow run-in period and proper instructions as given in user manual

                        3. Price differs in different dealerships.

                        4. Not at all, go for a test ride you'll know yourself.

                        5. Ground clearance is above average as compared to many other bikes.

                        6. First run-in is 500, next is 3K after that you can fully utilize it's full potential with two more free services i.e. 6K/6 months whichever is earlier and 9k or 10 months whichever is earlier.
                        Mileage you'll get from 30-40 km/l

Personal Note; take a look at Royal Enfield Himalayan.

                            1. It depends on your usage in city you may not be comfortable riding it but it depends on you.
                            2. It is reliable enough but few parts require check up like clutch, breather pipe and engine oil.
                            3. It comes next to GT and Himalayan in terms of build quality and pricing seems okay but they should plonk tubeless tyres.
                            4. Yes stock exhaust is barely audible but it will sound a bit okay after the engine opens up but not audible enough.
                            5. Ground clearance is a bit low. Bottom part may scrape speed breakers if driven recklessly. I have scraped my exhaust many times.
                            6. Everybody has different take on run in period. I say make sure you drive within 60-65 kmph for first 500kms and ride it frequently.
                            Cheers mate.

THE PERSON MUST REALLY LIKE THE BIKE, thats a kind of rider who should go for an RE. Otherwise going only by Others's opinion if one goes for an RE, Then he/she is surely bound to give it up, at first sign of trouble!.

                                other than that
                                1. The longer you wait, the more there may be news of new models coming out and eventually you end up waiting so long that the prices go up and everyone else around you has one (I waited 2 yrs in same way)
                                2. REs are not too well known for reliability. But the new ones have longer warranty period and recently RE have started their own RSA so, its gonna take care of things if you ever get stranded. on case of RE a stitch in time really saves nine!
