  • Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic

Can anybody help me get my hands on a CBZ silencer, the old one with a fatter inner exhaust pipe? You CBZians know what I mean. I live in Mumbai. Even an old one which someone doesn't want, in good condition will do.

Recently got my ride repaired and now it runs like a charm...
The engine feels more refined tyan ever before and also sounds a lot better.

      Major changes are as follows

      1. The faulty accelerator cable has been replaced.
      2. Clutch plates have been replaced with new ones.( Gears are now butter smooth)
      3. The previously broken kick spring has been replaced. Didn't get this fixed earlier as the engine block had to opened for that. Now as the clutch plates had to be replcaed, got this fixed as well.
I had got new clutch plates previously when I acquired the bike about an year & a half back. But not at the ASC, instead from a guy who was recommended by the supervisor at the ASC.... Turns out that the plates used then were not OEM.
      4. Other than that the Air pipe seems new and the joint connecting the carb to the engine is also new.
      5. I assume the air filter is also new (hence the better exhaust note????).. Couldn't confirm this as I forgot to ask him about it in the excitement on hearing the super smooth engine beating
      6. The faulty old switchgear haas been replaced. And also the headlight & pilot lamp bulbs.
      7. The speedometer worm gear and cable have also been replaced.
      8. And a few odd fixes here and there (the brake light spring holder has been welded and is now working)
      9. The suspension feels stiffer (Y)

      Bill amount : Rs. 4085
Discount : Rs. 285 (Courtesy of an uncle who has been a customer there for about 8 years)
      Total : Rs. 3800

Of this, the clutch plates alone cost Rs. 1250.
The throttle cable costs Rs. 270.
The handlebar switch gear costs Rs.320.
      Service charges Rs. 850.
Many more minor parts and all the amount totals upto Rs. 4085 but I can't make out the handwriting so I can't say what's what.

All I can say though is that the bike is running better than ever.

Your views will be much appreciated.

      Thanks,
      Chand (:

Seems like you luckily found yourself a good local mechanic. They are hard to come by. Cheers!

Hey bro, if you have replaced the spark-plug and cable as your mechanic suggested and you're still facing with the issue, please get your carburetor checked/serviced. There's a small container as a part of carburetor in which fuel (petrol) is stored. You can see it. You gotta get it serviced. I think rain water has accumulated in it.
Disc plate set which suits CBZ Classic will be that of Unicorn/Shine. Apache's and Bybre coming with 200NS are of larger radius and will not fit on CBZ's shock absorbers' lower tube. You will have to change the lower tube, if you intend to fit in bigger disc plate on CBZ.

Shouldn't the rim support the disk plate? The tube holds the calipers. And if u want to use those disk plates ull need to get alloy rims as the old spokes ones don't support them.

Classic's rim should support bigger disc plate because our CBZ's OEM spokes rims are known to be one of the best in its class. It is difficult to damage/bend a CBZ Classic's OEM spokes rim. But yes, the smaller rim/axle extension to which the disc plate is fixed need to be replaced positively. I'm not sure whether we will be able to find an appropriate axle to fix bigger disc plate on CBZ Classic. As I said in my earlier post, I had plans to change lower tube of shock absorbers and fit in a Karizma's disc brake assembly to my CBZ Classic, but then I checked the disc plate of a Karizma and found that nut holes are at a bigger diameter, which will definitely not fit onto a CBZ Classic. So, switch from spokes rim to alloy rim has to be done, which I think I won't go for.

Bro i bought a used cbz extreme whole disc set from old market for rupees 2000 and fixed it. Now the brake is fit and fine.Disc plate is having a small bent which i will buy a cbz extreme plate from there itself. Now that confidence came back for getting over 80km/hr. disc plate of unicorn, extreme ,hunk is also a direct fit.
