  • Guys, today got a very sad news

I am away from town from past 6mnths now and just learnt that my bike is not being ridden since then. Gave it to my friend (???!!!) before leaving for occasional usage. That buggar bought a new bike and left mine bite dust.

God knows what has happened of it by now. WIll know the status in 2/3 days. Keeping fingers crossed..

My 2003 cbz guys.. Looking for a good mechanic in hyderabad.. Got a plethora of issues with this bike.. I dint use it at all, just 28k on the odo so far.. I ride half a km to a physiotherapist everyday.. Rest I use my car.. Back in 2003 I used to keep it in college hostel, so only used to ride on weekends and things dint change after i started working.. I use it as an errand bike..
        Issues are..
It Wont go past 60 kmph.. Actually struggles from 40 to 60..
Front wheel doesn't roll properly(freely).. Kinda decelerate s d bike(my guess).. A kinda scraping sound is heard at d disc it kinda vibrating like but very dull if u rotate the wheel and listen..
Tried a cpl of service centres AVP motors at Sainikpuri is the place where it got serviced always except a cpl of times when I took it to a local mechanic who is supposed to be great, but he dint work for me.. Nothing works.. Chk out the pic and do suggest a mechanic for me.. I want to restore it to mint condition performance-wise.. Looks r unbeatable still as it rested in shade all these years.. I have another issue.. A SOB took my bike when I was not home and crashed it.. The headlight visor got scratched and is not available anywhere.. I am looking to get new set of tyres and new sets of shocks as I need the shocks to function well(I got a herniated lumber disc, bike w/o good suspension will kill me)

Last issue is I am selling my car and with some financial difficulties, so this will be my trusted and only steed now.. Help me out..

If I cant get it right, I will be forced to sell this too and buy a discover 125cc(or any other run of the mill bike which will come with what I will be left in my pocket)

Hey mate, it's good to hear that you're trying to restore your ride...
I don't personally know any mechanics in Hyd but I'm sure that someone else can help you with that.
Coming to your issue, since you haven't been using your bike for sometime now, the disc is probably jammed. The rubber rings holding the pistons in the disc caliper are probably the culprits ( that's what happened to me). That can be fixed. If that is the case and your disc brake is fixed, it will also improve your bike's pickup. Beyond that if the pickup still persists, its got something to do with your engine and some of the experts around here will be able to help you out.
Now looking at the second problem, the CBZ's stock suspension is really great and I don't suppose anything could improve on it. What I would advise is wait out till the engine problems are settled and if you still feel that the suspension is not good enough then you can go for an improvement.

You can find duplicate body parts such as the visor at ramkoti or if you want an original one, you can find it at any hero showroom. Even if it is not in stock, you can place an order and they'll have it shipped from Delhi.

That is all that comes to my mind. I hope I have been of some help.
Hope your CBZ will be fixed soon so you can go about riding joyfully again!
          Cheers,
          Chand (:

Hey Chand, good suggestions mate.. once my car is sold I will start getting the bike done.. Hence the query of trusted mechanics in hyderabad.. Past 18 months I had been using the bike regular as an errand bike.. Got 4 proper services done.. Thrice in showroom and once with Jahangir_mechanic at koti.. He provided a fix for d disc.. They all adjust some stuff after opening the disc and it runs real smooth.. Just in cpl of hours problem is back.. Also it makes it tough to roll bike backwards in parking places.. Seems problem doubles up when handle is slightly turned to one side.. Other side easily rolls.. Buying a entire new disc setup will help me? Mechanic was not able to answer that.. Dono next course of action.. Unless I get a mechanic with good referrals I am unsure.. Am sure once wheel roll is sorted bike acceleration will improve indeed..

            Thanks
            Tejas

            • ^^ have you checked the front wheel axle for play? Just check if the bearing is ok. That might cause the issue you stated.

Your bike looks neat bro. Hope you'll sort out the issues soon

The pic up and acceleration issue u r facing is due to worn out clutch disc .U change clutch disc, pressure plates and spring. You can buy it from honda show room(ask for unicorn clutch plates and components).clean ur carburator and change air filter sponge. And front disc brake can be serviced by changing caliper piston ,piston rubber seals and by changing to dot4 brake fluid.Go for dunlop geo cruiser at rear and dunlop mystry at front. You can go for cbz extreme gas shocks.I am sure all these things will bring ur bike to stock condition.

Wow bro.. These are some nouvelle suggestions.. No one took clutch disc topic with me before.. Will ask the mech to look for it particularly.. So, still one question unanswered.. Anybody out here has a trusted mechanic in Hyderabad for our common love, the Cbz.. I don't wanna go to the old guy.. He just takes money and pushes the bike out saying everything is perfect.. And bro, will resolve tech stuff you suggested first.. Decided will go for tyres later.. Just 28k run bike.. Will go easy on my pocket for now.. Hope the gas shocks and the disc and the clutch disc will be well under 10k..

Hope so brother.. everything gets sorted when disc assembly is fiddled with by the mechanics and goes back to being problematic.. So I am sure the problem is not with axle play.. The car is waiting.. Once sold will update you all how my trusted steed fares..

Aha, now the problems is same with me. Exactly as you said, my CBZ refuses to roll backwards in the mornings. Front tire just wouldn't rotate backwards. Turn the handle to left and the bike is a totally immovable object. I'm sure even a bulldozer will fail to move my bike from its position when the handle is turned to left. I mean to say, the disc is that jammed when handle bar is turned to left. It is free when the handle bar is turned to right. What all I did earlier to solve the problem - changed the pads (had purchased originals for INR 1,215/-), ran the pads for around 8-10 months, then changed the disc plate (got Glamor disc plate for INR 1,050/- as original CBZ plate was/is no more available), still running on the same and the problem is still there. Got both things done from franchisee of HH SVC in Pune. Never went back to him after all this. Then I went to another HH SVC. They helped solve problem for quite some time now. But I can sense it is coming back. Morning jamming problem and some kinda sound from calipers assembly is slowly rising again.

Bro I guess its not an issue with the pads but the bearing and the speedo cable get the bearing checked and also the plastic rotator that connects to the speedo cable..

let me know the price at which you are ditching it
and your problems seem to be related to the front disk setup, if I were you (who is struggling to find a proper mech to fix it) i'd suggest you trash the disc setup and switch over to the drum brakes! (I had a cbz, the very first generation one with the drum brake, bought it cos it saved me 3k over the drum version and back then i wasn't confident of using the discs)
and the pickup/top end looks like the clutch and carb/air filter need some attention. Getting these overhauled/cleaned and fixed should help that. and as ironhorse suggested, get the front wheel removed and check the bearings/or better replace them anyway.
and i hope the rim is not bent.

let me know where you live in hyderabad. i think there are some good mechs around the yousufguda check post or there is a workshop at motinagar/borabanda near vijetha theater (some of them ex-showroom guys with their own workshop)

An thinking of impulse or discover 125st in april.. Already saved like 30 k.. Will see how much I can till april and pick either.. But will try yousufguda check post once to get a diagnosis.. If the guy is genuine will think of a restoration in entirety.. I stay at Sainathpuram near ecil..
