Man, you are causing heart burn by showing your bike pictures. Man, it is in immaculate condition.
The black color with golden sticker(like yours) and blue color are my favorite. I am still on the look out for a decent classic CBZ to buy and you are posting photos after photos. After seeing the photos i am completely restless as my desire for this bike is increasing. May be its time for increasing my search for the same.
What size main jet is your stock CBZ running. Post it here and i will tell you which jet to go for.

bro.. its everything stock .. just maintained and polished for 10 years now.. bike has done close to 70k km by now.. but past 5 years i just get to ride her 2-3 times a year.
rest time she stays in storage where my dearest friend religiously starts her once a week minimum for 10-15 minutes..

5 years in hyd and i am using the bull and now cbr as well but i miss her like crazy...

about the jet its the stock Veturi 22 carb with main jet to be 105 as far as i remember.

should i hunt for zma jet and get that changed..

also should i change the pilot and main both ?

zma runs on a venturi 26 carb..

          • Can totally worn tires and engine oil (castrol 20w40), be the reasons for engine overheating????

            Comment

            • Worn tyres NO, unless you take in consideration the small change in drive ratio subsequently causing engine to run higher revs to maintain same speed. Haha just kidding. This variable is too small to cause an issue

Engine oil maybe. Please check in engine oil section as I've limited knowledge on wat could be recommended here.

As far as my previous experience shows its better to stick with herohonda 4T plus engine oil or try the Gulf 4T plus, these oils have helped my CBZ classic to stay cool and thats me saying from my experience with my dream bike. Try to re tune the carb to make it richer, when I was having my bike I tuned it so much for fuel mileage that my exhaust valve got burned and had to change the valve and the cams. I had the same black colour baby as yours, I miss her

Thanks buddy. I'll go for clutch plate inspection further.

carb is tuned, air-fuel ratio is now corrected. Overheating is l'll bit less than before, I'll go for further inspection to eliminate it.. thanks for your advice.

Check clutch plates. I would recomment to visit a good SVC as bike not moving beyond 60kmph is serious. I had similar issue when it was not going beyond 40. Dint have time as i was too busy those days so gave the bike to local mech (trusted one). Cant get the details of the work he did as language is a big hurdle for me in Chennai

But i guess issue was with timings as no major parts were replaced.

engine makes noise "kit-kit", timing chain has issue i think.

                      • wondering if i should do a 'boost' of all these cbz's (whose pics have been posted in the past few pages) ala 'gone in 60 seconds' sibun do u want to be my right hand ?
and @ironhorse did you change the exhaust ? because i thought the cbz'z post 2001 had a silencer with a smaller hole at the end (and with a catcon inside)

No wonder i was thinking in those lines.
I think my hope of owning a classic CBZ is by this method only. Not only right hand if you want then i will be your both hands for classic CBZ.
Anything for classic CBZ. I have only two wishes.
                          1. To own a classic CBZ and restore it to showroom condition.
                          2. To own a suzuki samurai in bottle green color that too in showroom condition.
I am in search of both but alas if wishes were horses.I have decided that for the next 2-3 years i will not buy a new bike and instead search for the above two. I know suzuki samurai i can get for 10k that too a well maintained one. Here they are quite cheap.

When i was a child i was taught money cannot buy everything and now i know that money cannot buy everything.

I suspect your piston rings have also busted. Please open the top end asap because you may be causing more damage to the engine.

Yeah, I also would recommend that because I was also facing the same problem and I had to change the cam shaft/rockers recently. My earlier mechanic changed the timing chain kit completely, but it didn't help me. Then I had to give it to SVC and they changed the cam shaft/rockers to tackle the problem. Do the job ASAP or else engine will take more damage.

yes post 2001 the silencer had a smaller hole. my friend was selling his cbz that was older model so i swapped the exhaust as i liked the sound note of the older one. we swapped the exhaust and he then sold his CBZ
