The only problem I faced after modifications is the top speed of the bike which got reduced by 5-10%...it struggles to go beyond 90kmph on speedo (earlier it easily touched 105kmph)....On suggestion of the service guy I also tried changing clutch plates but the results were not as expected...Can it be due to the wheels as I have heard that alloy wheels are heavier in weight than the normal spoke wheels?
Yes, drop in top-speed could be due to alloy wheels as they are heavier than normal spokes. But I'd suggest you take advice of other experienced people in this thread, if at all you're intending to make some more changes on the bike to get the earlier top-speed back again.

I've landed upon the original (yes!) workshop manual which I had given to a friend to return to the mechanic before I left India. Turns out, the lazy bum never did that and I found it lying in his room.

Please PM me your phone number and address, and do make sure you can give the scanned manual here before requesting for it. I will post the name and phone number of the person who I send to, so that others can bother him untill he posts the scan of the manual. The copy is spiral bound and in immaculate condition.
Thanks bro,,,hats off for your effort,,, I would have accepted it if i had a scanner,,,,But guys if anyone have scanner at home please help us and it will be surely a great help for all the cbzians,,,for their issues and upgradations,,,,Thanks in advance,,,

Bro, I have already taken the initiative and given Diffuser my postal address and phone number. I have a scanner with me. I'll do the needful as soon as I receive the manual by post. I will keep you all updated on the progress. Don't worry.

I'm not sure, I heard K&N RC 1100 also goes good with CBZ Classic.

K&N RC-1060 is the best for CBZ, it seems.

I'm no expert but i thought the alloys were supposed to be lighter than the regular spoke wheels...??O.o

Lol...Well, yeah. There are contradicting statements on the weight of alloy wheels and spoke wheels. Some people say alloy wheels are heavier than spoke wheels but some say spoke wheels AKA steel wheels are heavier than alloys. Alloys are usually made of aluminium or magnesium/sometimes mixture of both, which is lighter than steel which makes alloys lighter than steel. But this theory could go upside down when diameter of wheel is considered where smaller alloy wheels are heavier than steel wheels. Moreover, riders who switch from steel to alloy often complain about drop in mileage, which could possibly have made people believe it is because of weight of the alloy. Correct reason is unknown, I think. Let the experts here comment on this.

Actually alloy wheels are lighter than steel spoke wheels, only in case when its a OEM .TAke case of cbz extremes alloy is lighter than cbz steel wheels and is stronger also.always best is buying Karizma zma alloys which is strongest and withstand bends also.Going for cheap and after market alloys always is a waste of money and can call in accidents due to braking of alloy.

Absolutely right.... But coming to the looks i think the 3 spoke mag alloys are a perfect match for the classic CBZ.... what say??

                            I'd vote for 5 spokes.

Dude, IMO you did not give it a proper thought :-)
It's hard to believe that just a change in wheels (not that i'm saying alloys are heavier) made the top speed decrease from 105 to 90kmph!

If that's the case then none weighing more than say 80 kg would have ever achieved 100+ kmph on any CBZ. Dont I make sense? :-)

Well, yes. I didn't give it a second thought. But clarify then, please. Why almost all of them who switch from steel to alloy complain mileage drop? Does that have anything to do with the weight difference between alloy and steel? I am just asking, I do not know the true reason. If the reason for mileage drop has to do something with the weight difference between alloy and steel, then wouldn't the same reason affect the top speed also?
