I think bajaj is making profit from spares and service than selling bikes because if the price is higher they can't sell much bikes but the sold bikes need spares anyway. Sadly most of the potential buyers are not aware about the spare parts or maintanance cost of the Ninja before buying it that is the problem.
4000 k means 40 Lacs dude
I think you are misunderstanding them. As we said earlier, these are the initial estimates. Thy will quote all the parts if they have doubt about damage. And once they get approval from the insurance they will only change the damaged parts. Imagine, if they haven't quoted inner tubes of the front fork and frame and during repair if they find they are slightly bent , you are not going to get insurance for that. So you need to buy them yourself, will you? Normally if the bike is new the svc peoples will replace all the damaged parts to get a new look. But keep in mind "a small scratch on the handle bar" is not going to get an approval for a replacement ratherthan a paint touchup. If the disc got deep scratch or it is bent it must be changed otherwise you will suffer in the future, so don't compromise with any mechanical parts.
I think this is your first experience or you are an over-thinking guyor you are really scared with this accident or by hearing the spares price
. Don't worry, everything will be fine. I guess the total repair cost will be around 40 k to 75 k and you need to pay around 10k to 25k after insurance.
. But later when I called those guys up and asked and spoke to a few ninja people who had crashed they told me the same thing. Now I am kinda chilled out.
Yeah I knew the spares were gonna be high and maintenance was going to be an issue. But I was too over confident as in I never thought I would crash in a NINJA! Very sad though. The guy who hit me escaped. Anyways happened has happened. Looking forward for my bike to come asap.
And that 4000k was a typing error. LOLLast edited by rkum4881; 07-28-2012, 10:15 AM.

But then what I am trying to tell you is they've included stuff which need not be replaced too. So I feel they should go a bit easy on us.

This is the exact point I was trying to make some weeks back when I had a disagreement with someone. I had said that just because someone gets a second hand Ninja cheap, would not mean that he would buy it. Because the spares and maintenance is quite high as compared to other bikes. Buying is a one time payment but repairs is recurring.

Have given the bike for service (Odo stands at 31,95x Kilometers) - PBK said they will charge the battery for 10 hours and that would be good enough for now.
Thanks all for your inputs.
In the absence of jumper cables the safest thing for the Ninja is to remove the battery and give it to a battery guy for charging. It isn't rocket science; all you need is a few basic tools and remember to remove the negative terminal clamp first and put it back last.Last edited by isodope; 07-30-2012, 10:11 AM.

So then, The battery was charged for some 10 hours - and the battery charge indicated some 12.xx - I rode back from Pbk, mid way stopped to meet a few friends and back on the bike, the bike did not have enough juice to start it back. So push started again and got back home.
Now, PBK does not have battery in stock and has ordered one (Wonder when it will reach them) - PlanetDSG Quotes 6500 for the same battery - Should i wait for PBK (Is it costlier with them) or get it from PlanetDSG or is there a similar profile battery available in Indian Market?Photo Gallery[/B]

Hello guys, Just wanted to know if these injection mould fairings are a good buy?
For EX-250R 08-09 Injection Molded Fairing Black White 2538S | eBay
Injection Mold For 08 09 Kawasaki Fairing Ninja EX250 EX250R 2008 2009 Plastics | eBay
I had already asked a few people about this but they didn't know and earlier in this thread I had discussed about this. Wanted to get it clarified again because I am planning to order it ASAP. So what do you guys think about this? And anyone ever tried this?

1. battery itself dead.. i really doubt it
2. rectifier which charges the battery.. --> main culprit always
i faced same issue on my R15, the FI bikes won't start no matter what you do if battery is dead, battery dead==bike dead. no push start nothing work
in my case the rectifier was gone , so i suggest before buying check your rectifier, as ninja just 2 years old [till date of launch] battery should be ok, my 4.5yr R15 still running on stock battery, so try with other battery to check and same do for rectifier.

according to reviewers they are not good quality plastic like OEM but fairly ok, and fitting issue is there one need to re-adjust holes sometimes.
check the total cost of the fairing it will come around $700 [cost+shipping+import ] which is almost of OEM i guess [assuming OEM is 40K rs]. if some one coming from outside then it will save some import tax of 28%

All in all you spend ~15k (or 23k if you go for front fairing as well).
Hope I was not as confusing as before

Better check this fairing kit, oem black color is available with windsreen. Shipping is free
But my opinion is to replace the broken fairings and repaint the scratched fairings under insurance.Last edited by maheshkmr; 07-31-2012, 12:29 AM.

Whoa the thread just turned from a fantasy novel into a horror flick for me after reading all the repair expenses for the little ninja. I just got mine today and I'm on cloud 8 1/2. The 1/2 being left off as insurance.
To be frank, I was never really impressed by the looks or quality of the 250 from the Internet, magazines or even in the showroom. I had to get my own to actually sit and ponder over every line and every curve. The eminence in technological breakthrough that it so vividly radiates speaks for itself once you get to know it first hand. Trying new bikes always felt like hard coding a new set of parameters for the brain to analyze, process and execute. But with the ninja 250, "confidence" is a word that that can be thrown around with out any hesitation. I never felt like I was riding a new bike at all! It was like my mind had automatically set to default presets the moment i sat on it.
I took the bike back to my office and as soon as I hit traffic, it all made sense; spending so much money on bike with a small motor?! What exactly were we paying for?... Character! It was all about character... Every bike has it but this little Kawasaki was in a league of its own. It reeked of quality, something that I've always missed in almost all the bikes available in the market today. It is the sole reason why the 250 leaves every other bike in its segment behind. I am yet to explore a lot of aspects of the bike as its still under the break in period, but i can most confidently say,
I have made the right choice!
