Review of philips xtreme vision on karizma zmr
Finally after extensive usage of Philips Xtreme vision for nearly 1.5 months on my ZMR finally here is the review.
The Philips Xtreme Vision:

Note:This review is not just about the intensity or brightness of the bulb. Its already proven no doubt about it.But it is about the compatibility of the bulb with reflector and about effectiveness of the reflector of our bike to put it on tarmac.
Brightness compared to Stock bulb:Awesome..Its just awesome..that's the only word i could use for its intensity and brightness.
Beam Spread:
Low Beam:The width could be compared to any 4 wheeler and it could easily cover the 100 feet road nicely if adjusted properly.

High Beam:The beam throw lengthwise is good compared to stock.I haven't experienced any problem cruising at 90-100 on pitch black night at highway.
But technically the bulb is not suited to Zmr reflector as the beam pattern is not uniform. It has bright and dark spots in its beam.It is visible in the picture below.

From A Distance :

The bright spot on the right of my beam could easily blind on coming vehicle and can cause havoc.I am particularly cautious with high beam.
This is the beam pattern of the same bulb on Discover 100cc.Now you can compare the beam patterns i think there is no fault with the bulb,Its just the reflector which is not compatible with the bulb.
High Beam on Discover:

Low Beam:

Cost/Value for Money:I personally feel the brightness and intesity which it produces is not at all necessary for sane riding on city roads,But utmost necessary while on highways but be careful with the bright spots specially if it is single lane highway and there is no divider on the road.
So i would recommend some other bulb{night breaker, but i have not tested its beam pattern(coming soon) or else normal 60/55w halogen(just 70-80 RS) u can select the bulb which matches the reflector}.According to me this bulb on ZMR is not of much use for the price because of the diffused beam pattern so better try different bulb.
ZMR users with philips xtremes on them,Kindly post your respective beam patterns so that we could get the complete review of its effectiveness on different reflectors.Last edited by vvijkumar; 08-02-2011, 11:26 AM.

FYI.. I do own the same lamp, I'm all for its best low beam spread that is whiter than the high beam which is slightly yellow to penetrate mist/rain/smoky condition. Their throw is the best and ofter the vehicle going in the front mistake my ride to be a 4 wheeler due to its solid throw.Originally posted by vvijkumar View PostBut technically the bulb is not suited to Zmr reflector as the beam pattern is not uniform. It has bright and dark spots in its beam.It is visible in the picture below.
Did you try to adjust the reflector/doom for proper focusing? I own a ZMA-R and at the back side of the headlight left assembly there is a small star screw which we can adjust the beam for desired positioning. Can you check if ZMR has this?
While posting pics of the beam, always take them on the road so that we can virtually imagine the light span.
I did come across this Blue Vision (xenon effect, 4000k), some how not sure of their intensity due to the blue shade (I may be wrong). According to me the blue diffuses a bit on the throw though they might give a bright look, this is my thinking. I see you posted of the beam on the road, but across the road which defy the logical imagination as the high beam do crawl down a bit to ground from the road. If you can post a picture when taken on a straight road/pathway would help.Originally posted by Above_All View PostI have Philips Blue Vision not the xtreme , but the light spread is good
Sharing a tip:- The high beam should never go up to the trees/high on the sides or short focused. Ideally the beam should run thin from the ground to a good distance. This would give you a good vision on the road where moving objects(cattle, dog, human, vehicle coming in wrong side etc) also seen.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

I agree that the low beam pattern is simply superb(can be compared to p220's projector's spread) and i mentioned it too.The problem is with the high-beam where the beam is diffused into bright and dark spots.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostFYI.. Secondly the screw at the back of the reflector is just to adjust the beam up or down.It has no effect of the beam pattern.By adjusting the screw i can not eliminate the bright spots and make it uniform.
I have taken the pics in that way so that i could show people about the diffused high beam and could compare it to continuous high beam of different vehicle.

I recently changed to Philips Xtreme...and yesterday in night while riding i feel better light and visibility..bulb is really superb...
As for the white/dark spots...i came to know first about this...very useful information.and will surely take some pics of this today and post it....
@SriramEfunds
As ZMA and ZMR reflector are different and ZMR has an huge and board headlight area...this may be a reason you may not have feel dark/white spots...

Is this for every ZMR? If yes, that's disappointing!Originally posted by vvijkumar View PostI agree that the low beam pattern is simply superb(can be compared to p220's projector's spread) and i mentioned it too.The problem is with the high-beam where the beam is diffused into bright and dark spots.
I know the reflectors shapes are different between ZMA/ZMR. My beam does not have any spots(dark/bright). As you both express that about the spots (dark/bright), should I assume that there is a flaw while designing the headlight?Originally posted by veryhiphop View PostI recently changed to Philips Xtreme...and yesterday in night while riding i feel better light and visibility..bulb is really superb...

Ok so should i stop the hunt for those philips parking bulbs for you ?Originally posted by veryhiphop View PostYes, the shop (philips dealer) has those parking bulbs @ Rs. 100..i do not buy because i have been using LEDs and also changed the number plate bulb to LED (my plan was to replace a number plate bulb when i talk to you to buy)
To which LED you shifted for number plate bulb , case there is no reflector in it , & it need led focusing toward one side as the front focusing are not of use there..
And bro can you please check is there some sound while hard braking by putting bike on main stand giving a little run as i mentioned in my last post
no dark , bright spots in my zmr , either the bulb or that perticular reflector having problemOriginally posted by SriramEfunds View PostIs this for every ZMR? If yes, that's disappointing!
