I had PSR sir, Sriram sir for help here at xbhp. I tried this when I was in Chennai and when my battery was giving me nightmares. But it turned out that the fuse under the seat was at fault. It has been almost 25k kms and I'm still with the stock battery.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View Post

let me know which one so that I can get it changed and see how it helps
I always had a tot that the starter relay fuse can be the culprit.. but never realized the fuse under seat has connection with the battery.. now that you have told me.. all i can do is check on the fuse.. maybe it helps

I will let you know the outcome of it too

Just to let you know.. I also stuck with the stock battery as the new one i purchased was worse..
the stock one is better than the new one i have.. so i am using the new one to fix my friend's bike horns

There are a few fuses under the seat - 5A, 10A, 15A etc. Also, there are spares alongside for the same. For me, the 15A fuse had gone kaput. I tried with the spare one, but I guess it was bad as well. Went to the SVC, bought a new 15A fuse (don't exactly remember the cost) and it worked fine.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View Postwhich fuse did you guys change??Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Shocking...Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostIts really strange how could that break. :O
yes value spring...don't know if quality of parts come down or the SVC people don't know how to work and they ruined my bike....
actually from last 4 months facing few issues...appear after the SVC sorted the issue of engine stalling...issues are as follows
1. Engine cold start - Engine rotation is fluctuating when a engine is cold for 2/3 km.....however bike starts in one flow.....
2. Engine hiccpus in a constant speed.
3. Engine noise- Keep increasing as i ride more....
Three times HM engineer has come and inspect...my ZMR has been most of the days in SVC but all in vain...they are changing parts ..parts...parts...but no solution why all this issues are appearing?
First time they changed cylinder kit...
Second time they changed whole head....
Now last Thursday HM engineer comes with other person from the SVC..in fact two person from different SVC for my bike...when they open found the spring break....they thought that due to broken spring the bike has issues...replaced it and ...now after that bike do not start....it start and off...start and off.....so another round of inspection....which is still under process....
i visit yesterday at my SVC...for the status...engine hiccup has been solved...after some of the parts changed like camshaft etc....
Engine noise is still exists...they are working on it...
@psr sir help me to identify how to trouble shoot the issues....
psr sir ...as per your instruction i asked them to check the sensor/fuel pump/injector....all seems to be fine...for engine hiccup issue....they check by replacing parts from the new bike....
Now my question is; they had open upper engine two times... replaced parts in earlier service then why they could not find a broken spring or it has been broken after the service....if after service then it seems SVC people has not properly done the service.....

It is very painful to go through your post and see what you had been through......From what you have posted just about every component possible had been changed...so like you now I have no clue, since everything that could possibly contribute to your problem had been replaced with new parts.....unless of course it had been fitted wrongly or adjusted wrongly...for instance the broken Valve spring is due to negligence on the part of the SVC mechanic, since I had never heard of it....of course they might have taken a broken spring from junk and shown it to you to convince you that they are doing something....Ask them to revert back to your old ECU or better still ask for a NEW ECU to be fitted in front of you, and then check how the engine functions......ask them to check all connectors to sensors, and ECU and the wires for any cut in between...Otherwise I can't think of anything else which might give such constant problem even with new parts..Originally posted by veryhiphop View Post@psr sir help me to identify how to trouble shoot the issues....

Check the sensor and ECU wires end to end..ie., from one end to another end, including the connectors...

^^^ +1.
A new ride will have all panels/plastics/engine/exhaust/chain/sprocket etc tuned in factory spec condition. It is as perfect as it can get.
Now, mechanical parts deteriorate with the mileage clocked. Plastics start rattling on use. We can only aim at achieving near factory efficiency from age-ing bikes.
Get the plastics damped with double sided tapes/tube to reduce vibes/rattle. Since you're at 17k, sprocket set may need replacement sooner or later. That'll smoothen out the ide to a great extent. Use xW40 engine oils for better performance of the engine. Keep proper tire pressure, clean air filter and spark plugs every 3-4k kms and replace them @ 10k and 12k kms respectively.Originally posted by psr View PostA new bike will have comparatively closer tolerance in moving parts, and so likely to have less vibes....that said what is the oil you are using ? engine oil and the way the owner uses the engine will make all the difference between a good and average engine feel....Originally posted by worrisomebear View PostThe spark plug and airfilter needs to be changed every 10000 kms. Wrt to smoothness, depends how your ride, thrash it often across rev range or drive in power band. Also changing oil at every 2000 kms is not a sensisble thing, the manufacturer may say so but ideally the HH oil is no ggod than 1200kms, the advice is to change the oil every 1000 to 1200 kms.
The filter can also ideally last 10k kms, but dusty environments can lead to changing filters at as early as 7k ams.
To ensure good performance, clean chain and sprockets with diesel , specaillay the front sprocket
look out if u need replacing the acceletor cables and clutch cables changed as wellThanks for all your inputs..Originally posted by veryhiphop View Postnicely maintained...
I guess the HM has make some improvement in the bike in 2011 and after models...3ven i feel that new models of zmr have a more smoothness in engine as compared to earlier models..

@abhi7013 May be it is because of that. But i seriously feel like new ZMR is better tuned.. I never felt my bike so smooth.
@divya sharan I have done the double sided tapes long back to reduce the vibes. I think i have to change the sprocket now. Do u know what is the price of the same?
@psr I am still using the Hero engine oil (10W-30). I am planning to change it to Shell Advance 4T Ultra 10W - 40 or Mobil1 10w40 during my next service which i am planning to do on coming weekend. Still confused with which one to use.
@worrisomebear seeing your post in this thread after a long time. Thanks for your inputs.

As per the SVC...HM engineer has confirmed that spring is broken and he has questioned the SVC about the work been done earlier...taken photographs by him...Originally posted by psr View PostIt is very painful to go through your post and see what you had been through......From what you have posted just about every component possible had been changed...so like you now I have no clue, since everything that could possibly contribute to your problem had been replaced with new parts.....unless of course it had been fitted wrongly or adjusted wrongly...for instance the broken Valve spring is due to negligence on the part of the SVC mechanic, since I had never heard of it....of course they might have taken a broken spring from junk and shown it to you to convince you that they are doing something....Ask them to revert back to your old ECU or better still ask for a NEW ECU to be fitted in front of you, and then check how the engine functions......ask them to check all connectors to sensors, and ECU and the wires for any cut in between...Otherwise I can't think of anything else which might give such constant problem even with new parts..

After all this been going on in my zmr...i am really upset...and hope that this time they should rectify all problem...otherwise i have no option to sell it later on.....Last edited by veryhiphop; 02-25-2013, 12:11 PM.

IIRC, Chain+sprocket kit cost me ~1150-1200 bucks some 5 months back.Originally posted by Anoop K Thomas View PostThanks for all your inputs..

I have never used Shell Advance, but Mobil1 rocks for me.

Tell them that you need a full replacement of the bike with a new one ,since they have sold a defective one which inspite of their best efforts is not good till now....Shoot a e-mail to HERO Honda with details of the problems and what the SVC had been doing so far, with details of work done with dates...Originally posted by veryhiphop View PostAs per the SVC...HM engineer has confirmed that spring is broken and he has question the SVC about the work been done earlier...taken photographs by him...

Shell is a good oil and you can use it ...Rollon Chain sprocket kit for ZMA costs about 900/- 6 months backOriginally posted by Anoop K Thomas View PostThanks for all your inputs..

I have seen that Hero had shifted to Savita oil(SAVSOL) and saw barrels of it in Hero Service Center....now all Hero bikes get 10w30 only as engine oil..

That can also be done....ok let me get my bike from SVC after service and if the problem still persists or they not able to rectify will mail to HM...with complete detail of issue and what SVC and HM engineer has done...Originally posted by psr View PostTell them that you need a full replacement of the bike with a new one ,since they have sold a defective one which inspite of their best efforts is not good till now....Shoot a e-mail to HERO Honda with details of the problems and what the SVC had been doing so far, with details of work done with dates...
However; i had a word with HM engineer. i ask him if the problem you are not able to sort out what can be done after that from your side. He says that shall forward the issue to top management/engineer @ HM Gurgoun factory...from there the engineer shall come again...with there specific tools...Last edited by veryhiphop; 02-25-2013, 12:38 PM.

@psr Thanks. which sprocket set is better for ZMR (IIRC or Rollon)?

Rolon is good. I have Rolon kit on my bike. The amount I quoted was including labor charges.Originally posted by Anoop K Thomas View Post@Divya Sharan Thanks. Mobil1 came into my list because of your reviews only
