Just another opinion..
    I'm curious about this. Let us know what was the issue okay? Thanks

    I haven't checked it out yet. But the smoke is now greyish. I think the engine is running rich or engine oil is burning in the cylinder. Have to check it out.

    Any of you guys going for the IBW?
    The smoke only comes when i rev it hard and it has turned to greyish color now. My engine oil is consumed way too fast.. reaches low level with a month from oil refill.

    I have put LEDs on my speedo and parking lamps on my DS.. looks awesome! planning to put white HID or projector!

      I think you should look into this ASAP. Too much burnt oil residues will damage your engine.

          royal racer, while touring 200ml is normal, and water from silencer during a cold start is also fine. No worries!

            Hi Everyone,

            I have booked Classic 500 Desert Storm and is expected to get delivered in another 7 months. I have been reading through many posts; some say the bike is totally reliable and is best of its kind, while some other say the opposite. I am confused. My purpose is long distance touring with my better half. I also considered thunderbird. Though it looks great on specs compared to DS, I loved the retro looks of DS.
            Dear RE owners please give a clarification and your opinion on my decision.

            Thanks

              Hey Srinath, it's all with you no matter what people say, what moves you is what matters. DS needs a little particularly different caretaking due to the matte finish. But other than that,it's as good as others. And people will always be divided in the opinion. For example if you were to ask me, I would ardently discourage you from buying an electra. But there are others who absolutely love it. So always remember, get what moves you. Congratulations on DS, Happy waiting! Ride safe.

                IMHO RE 500 (Carb version) is much suited to your needs. Since u will be touring most of the time you will visit remote places and it is highly unlikely that everyone knows a thing or 2 about the FI bullets.

                This is coming from a CL 500 (2010) owner (which had tons of initial issues) so i may be bit biased. But i would suggest to play safe. Let veterans comment on this.

                        Shri Ram : .. Dude, don't ride your bike until this issue gets sorted, If the smoke's grey like you said. It has to mean that oil is leaking into your cylinder and getting burnt. Which explains the decrease in oil levels. This is usually because of a leak in your pistons head gasket. This can happen if you run long without enough oil. Get it checked ASAP, worst case scenario, it can screw up you piston and cylinder.

                        Hi Srinath ;

                        Congrats on the DS , you made a god decision. The overall dynamics of the DS is much better than the Tbird . The C500 handles better under hard braking and I've never really been a fan of the way how the bird looks. For touring, get the wide off road handle bar, it gives more leverage and a little more room up front for your tank bag and find a crash guard you can rest your feet on .. Be careful when you corner, because like all of us know, into a right handed turn you wont have your rear brakes. You will need to find a way to make the pillion seat bearable. I almost lost my butt the last time i rode behind one for more than a couple of hours. Don't obsess over the bike, maintain it regularly. It'll do what its supposed to do. So cheers!

                        Royal Racer : What grade engine oil are you using and which brand ? Its uncommon to lose so much oil.

                              Hey buddy, thanks for the compliment. My front Tyre is the stock one but yeah, the back is an aftermarket piece. Its a CEAT Vertigo, 130 section, instead of stock 120 section MRF zapper Y.
