Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Richu : Truing is done to the rims, not the tire. When you ride hard over rough roads or potholes there are chances your rim might get bent. This causes the wheel to wobble. AFAIK truing is done by tightening the spokes around the bend so that the rim is pulled back to its formal flat position. The easiest way to check for wobble is to put your bike on the center stand and spin the wheels and check from a distance. A guy i know had a wobbly back end, turned out it was the tire, got it replaced for his first service.

I have felt that there is a small bend in the front rim after a recent trip. So was thinking about what I could do, when I came across such a procedure. How costly is this?
And where exactly are these services available? And what do I ask them?
"Can you true my tyre?"
Sorry for the weird questions...

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
A person who align rims will true your bike wheels you can genrally find these kind of persons at two wheeler spare market near to your place or you can ask from any 2wheeler repair shop they will guide you to this kind of mechanic, but which state are you from.Originally posted by Richu Royce View PostThank you so much...

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Haha .. Just tell them you might have bent your rim, its better to check before hand at home. If you run a spanner along your spoke you will know which spokes are loose from the sound it makes. I don't know anyone specific who does this in Kochi ,ill ask around and let you know.

Did just as what you said....but on free rotation a small variation can be observed...a very small one thoughOriginally posted by sidewinder View PostHaha .. Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
A little bit of variation is quite common, just check for the lateral movement of the rim and check for any kind of depression on the outer periphery of the rim.Originally posted by Richu Royce View PostDid just as what you said....but on free rotation a small variation can be observed...a very small one though

Checked as you said and found no movement or depression whatsoever....Originally posted by kusmaker View PostA little bit of variation is quite common, just check for the lateral movement of the rim and check for any kind of depression on the outer periphery of the rim.
..
So is there nothing to worry about?

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Hi fellow Xbhpians,
Did an early morning ride down ECR to Kalpakkam and return via OMR. The plan was to ride to Alamparai Fort and visit the Sadras Dutch Fort in Kalpakkam. However owing to time constraints we decided to ride only to Sadras Fort.
Me and my friend rode out on two C500 Desert Storms ( both bikes being fairly new) rode out at 5:00 am in the morning. Riding at this time gave me an opportunity to consistently ride at 75-80 Km over a longer period of time. Vibrations are quite minimal and the handling was exceptional.
Having a full faced helmet is recommended at this hour as there were still quite a few bugs flying through the air and crashing into my visor.
Reached Sadras Fort and had a tea break and proceeded to the Kalpakkam beach for a few photos of the twins.
Had breakfast at Hotel Mamalla Bhavan and rode back via OMR.
Overall the motorcycles performed exceptionally well. It was diffcult though to keep the speed limited to 80 kmph due to the running in restrictions.
I used the EatSleepRide app for the iphone which let me know later that indeed the speed with at 79-80 kmph. I recommend the software for all iphone users to log the bike rides with speed and route marked automatically.
Will be doing a longer ride next time. Some pictures of the bikes.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Where do people buy 120/80-18 profile tires from?:banghead:
I wanted a Michelin M45 which I already had on the bike(used) when I bought it.
It has been so hard....ever since I got out on a hunt for a new rear tyre, all the reply I ever got was :
"sorry, some issues with manufacturer, will come in 3 months"
I searched in 2 districts including mine...
I enquired about michelin,mrf, dunlop...but in vain.
Also saw that snapdeal delivers tyres to your doorstep...they have an awesome collection of tyres including the Sirac and Ceat...but unfortunately thay have discontinued services to Kerala...!!
Finally found a small shop stocking the MRF Zapper C, is it a good tyre?
The guy quoted around rs2900. Is this price right?
