Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Hello fellow xBhpians. I am new to this forum and complete newbie when it comes to bikes. I recently rode a friends C5 and was completely hooked. Went ahead and booked it the next day. Decided to go with the C5 DS. Waiting period was stated as 3-4 months.
Two days later a casual visit to another dealer in the city had the waiting time of 2 months so made a booking there as well. One month up and another to go. Can't wait for that call. In the meantime got myself the RE full face centurion edge helmet ( white ) and the leather riding glove.
Will keep you all posted on developments.
Srinath :
Yes, the terraclaw takes up the back seat. Do check out the LEH. How much longer before you get your bike?
sidewinder: I am not sure what LEH is? Do they provide baggage solutions? Sorry if the question was dumb!

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Yesterday I was shocked to see a pool of oil beneath the exhaust joint of my bull. The oil was coming from the air filter box. Apparently during the last service mech filled 2.75 l of oil which is an overkill.
So could you please share how much oil do you feed the bull during regular service ?
Also the oil is poured on both left hand and right hand case or just the right hand ??

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
After a month at service station, my DS 500 came back today with a new bore, piston head, chain and chain sproket. Spent a good 17k in it. It now rides like a charm but i have run in once again
There is no grey smoke from the exhaust and all the problems were addressed. The mechanics were slower than a snail in working on this issue. had to give them a little push to finish the work. And a note to all bulleteers, the anna nagar, shanthi colony service centre is slow as hell and they are fraudent on engine oil. They only pour 2 lits of engine oil and bill you for 2.75lits. They lie about the level of oil in the oil level indicator too. So be vigilant if you are using this service centre.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Hi,
Finally received the call i have been waiting for. My DS C500 has been allotted. Have been asked to pay tomorrow and take delivery by the end of the month. Elections over here is delaying the registration. But I am not complaining as it's been only 7 weeks since i booked it.Last edited by Revit; 04-30-2014, 12:15 PM.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Finally took delivery of my C500 DS yesterday from the Brand Store in Adayar. Decided to name her " The Dust Devil "
The wait was only 9 weeks from booking. The delivery process though leave a lot to be desired and has a long way to go.
The C500 though is a pleasure to ride and own. It certainly draws attention from passersby and other motorists. Even the petrol bunk personnel cast appreciative glances at the motorbike.
Tire pressure was oddly under inflated. No care taken by the delivery people to check before delivery. It was only 14 in the front and 17 in the rear.
Put in a full tank of petrol ( about 12.15 Ltrs). The showroom had put 2 litres during the delivery process.
Doing small rides right now with rides around the neighbour hood. Keeping the speed between 50-60 Kmph as recommended on this forum. Some of the gears have a lot of vibration but I am hoping that they smoothen out after the first service. On one of the morning rides I was flagged by a passing motorist that my utility box on the left is wide open. Luckily I didn't lose my toolkit and first aid sachet. Repeated attempts to close it on the side of the road was unsuccessful so had to ride it back home and had to use a plier to twist the locking mechanism before managing to lock it. Guess thats RE !.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Hi Richu,
It all depends on your riding style and posture, ive ridden my friends bike with the RD bar for a few days, works fine.. He uses a big tank bag so he needs the room up front. Try and get a feel of them both. And considering its not that expensive you can change it if you have second thoughts.. Is that thanner mukkom bund by the way?
Cheers!
