vinyl seems a good idea,i say stick a xbhp sticker on the scratch area.
and the question remains why do i race?

        • Gonna Try out the Shell Advanced 10w40 now.
Given its in an experimental mode now to find the best suited one, I hope it stands up to my expectations..
Also the fact that this is the best they've got in this Stupid city, or rather Village... :x
Will post about its performance as it goes..

          • Hi all..crossed 30k km on my p135.. and I'm happy to report that the bike has exceeded my expectations. Let me elaborate :

            1. Performance: Let me start off saying that the 4 valve technology even though not new to our subcontinent, really shines when you are riding in top high gear-low revs (5th gear-2500rpm). Not only does the bike pull cleanly from 2500rpm but the acceleration is constant and smooth all thanks to some clever engine torque tweaking by the guys at BAL. Not once did i find a flat spot on the rpm band during acceleration. The clutch is light (a bit too light in my opinion). The gear shifts are butter smooth, but only after the initial 500 km was I able to really appreciate the gearbox. the only time I experienced false neutrals and missed shifts was before the 1st servicing and in conditions where the engine oil needed topping up.

            2. Rideability: As you all know, the seats on this baby are a bit on the hard side for extended runs, but for in-city riding its manageable. The suspension is reliable, the front fork does not have too much dive on sharp braking, and the rear end, once you get the suspension pre-load sorted out for your ride requirement, really is very well planted and overall the suspension irons out most of the bumps on the road while still managing to give you excellent feedback from the road surface. I was just blown away by the spot-on center of gravity of this bike that gives it amazing stability on the road no matter the riding conditions. The brakes are a mixed bag I must say, because the front disc has a nice bit to it and has no brake "fade" on repeated use. The rear drum sadly, succumbs to the said "fade" but I guess all drums have this inherent weakness.

All said and done my daily commute is about 50 km and i enjoyed riding all of the 30k km mileage .

            3. Reliability : This is the part where I feel you all will criticize me about, but to be honest the part quality on this bike is sub par...its been 18 months since i got the bike and I have already noted rust on some of the chromed parts, screws getting rusted, most metal undergoing corrosion and paint chipping off the Cylinder fins, whereas bikes from other manufacturers stand up much better.

Well getting to the "kitna dethi hai" part..i got an average of 60 kmpl on highway runs and 55 kmpl on city roads. Not bad I guess as i tip the scales at 90 kilos. THis bike is utter VFM and it is undoubtedly the best 1st motorcycle for anybody. It has the personality of a boxing coach. It can knock the novice out cold but it will give fair warning before its light out for the poor unsuspecting inexperienced "noob"....

Well that is what i think of it anyway.

            • Hey all

P135 LS is one of bikes that I have shortlisted as my next bike. I need some feedback from all P135 owners on one two things...

              a. Is it possible to fit heel-toe gear shift lever in P135 ? any body did it ?
              b. I heard of oil leakage problems in early generation P135 LS, though not big one...very minor oil leakage. Is it present now ?
              c. at which speed ( in 4th and 5th gear )/ rpm readings , vibrations are present ?
              d. Mileage upwards of 50-55KMPL ( I would be driving 100% city with speeds of 40-70 ), is this correct ?

Thanks in advance for going through my queries !!!

Great post!!! I was waiting for someone to comment on their the long run experience with the Pulsar 135 LS
But i have to ask...! How did you adjust the suspension settings? The suspension is a bit hard but I've just become accustomed to the stiffness simply because it one can get better cornering ability on a stiff suspension... But now I use my 135 LS for more city commutes and lesser highway stints so a softer suspension will be a blessing. I have no clue how get the suspension pre-load sorted out but you've seemed to have found the sweet spot in settings. So how did you get this done?

                • Pulsar 135 LS..!! help me out please..!!(ENGINE)

                  Hello everyone!!
This is my very first post in xbhp and i wanted a little help from you guys..
Actually I own a black Pulsar 135 LS, and its 1.5 year old now and with 6200km reading on odo.
One day I was riding my bike and suddenly the Race of the bike started increasing severely and it reached till(or more than) 10rpm and I just got scared and shut it down with the red killswitch.. and then again i tried several times to start it up but the same thing happened .The race reached at highest rpms. after some 2 kms of dragging the heavy bike..i got it rectified from mechanic.
But main problem ARISES now.. after that incident.. MY ENGINE GOT HARSH.. after it crosses 4 rpm(THE POINT TO SHIFT GEARS UP NORMALLY)(TILL 50kph) engine becomes as harsh as if it were on speed 60kph-65kph.. but rather IT is on 48-50kph.. and i could not think of reaching 80 above.. I think my engine would just blow up now and then. But it is still smooth till 30kph(or even 40kph).Sudden change in the smoothness annoying me.. :/
I am a sincere rider and never treat my bike in any harsh way(usually drive till 55kph).Not even drive recklessly and all.
I used CASTROL POWER 1 15W40 ENGINE OIL but my recommended grade is 20w50.I did not use 20w50 because service centre guys used bajaj oil of same grade but it was very bad.
Castrol was good . But i want to know that WhY it happened to my bike whats the reason behind it.?My oil is also ok it's been used since last 1200kms.I wonder if my bike's piston got damaged?? or my engine oil is not ok? or my engine got damaged by that High RPMS?? what the hell happened?? where the smoothness has gone out of my bike?! :/

Believe me..MY ride is not even smooth at 45kph.. earlier it was very smooth.!! JUST TEll me why engine got harsh only after that incident and WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW??
and also i am about to use MOTUL 3000 semi synthetic 20w50 OIL.!! is it ok?? any reviews so far you know?
OR WHICH OIL SHOULD BE USED FOR PULSAR 135 LS??

                    • Hello and welcome danish ,
Why don't you revert your oil to the recommended grade of 20w50(or even 15w50 will do) mineral right now and revert back here if the problem persists . Which oil grade were you running when the incident happened ? What did the mechnic who rectified the problem tell you about it (any clue what the exact problem was then) ?

Problem is 15w40 oil won't be providing the lubrication your bike's engine is designed for at the higher temperatures which occur when you rev hard or ride long . Try to get 20w50/15w50 mineral oil from motul/gulf/servo/shell/yamalube etc . There is no motul 3000 semi-synthetic oil , of any grade . Motul 3000 4T plus oil is mineral oil , available in 10w30/20w40/15w50 grades , and a good oil nonetheless .

                      • Over revving a engine without any load is known to damage the engine but as you said you switched off the engine immediately, damage might not have taken place.
Had the engine over-revved as soon as you cold started it ,then the case would have been different altogether.
Don't worry,Replace the oil with a good 15W50 oil and see the difference. If you face the same problem even after changing oil then please report here.

you are good to go with toe shifter, why bother to revert back to old pattern shifter?

oil leakages from gasket ??never faced any.

vibrations are present in between 4500 rpm to 65oo rpm, resonance vibes, can't do nothing about it.

last fe i got within city is 58.7 kmpl.

it's been 5 months and 12,145 km, those mileage have been pure bliss.

                          • I was running on a 15w40 oil(castrol power 1) sir. Till then everything was very good and smoothness was good too at high speeds. I don't know what the hell happened to the race.Mechanic said some wire got stuck up and he pulled it down (just beneath the fuel tank on right side).
I am scared since i love my bike :/.
Actually I went to a shop selling Motul engine oil one was 15w50 about 275rs and other was 20w50 at rs 325/- and it was 3000 and part synthetic too as he said it and showed to me even!! don't know he might be selling some fake stuff..!!
well my recommended grade is 20w50 only. so i am gonna buy 20w50 now.But which one? please tell me some exact names of oils of that grade and which one is the best for pulsars!?
ONE MAIN THING.. WILL SMOOTHNESS COME BACK IF I IMMEDIATELY CHANGE OIL..? OR DAMAGE IS IMMINENT WHICH IS BEEN ALREADY CAUSED?

                            • That was your bike's throttle cable getting stuck . Lubricate all the cables and the throttle spindle etc from time to time to prevent such snags . Oil-film depletion for even a fraction of a second can cause engine damage . It is impossible to say from here whether any damage has happened really , but something must be amiss since you ride the bike and you are feeling it .
Now the remedy is to make everything that could be amiss on the bike alright and check them one by one . Starting with the wrong grade and type of oil you are using at present . We cannot say from here what oil is available to you so just look for a motorcycle oil(marked JASO on the pack) grade should be either 15w50 or 20w50 and it should be mineral oil only . This info would be written right on the label , so go to a reliable oil-shop or petrol-pump and ask for the bottle and read it and you should be fine .

Ok i am gonna buy the oil you specified.
Actually i shifted from premium oil to the normal oil .Does this make any effect? i have driven about 600kms on normal oil. After i shifted mileage was poor but now its back to normal.Does that cause harm ?? should i stick to using normal petrol, since premium one is much costlier now!!
