      • Lifespan of sprocket and chain of P135ls

        Hi Guyzz...

So i have completed over 17000 kms on my P135LS and for the last two weeks i have noticed a grating sound coming from my chain.

When i took it to the SVC they said that my sprocket and chain needs to be changed.

Well since my bike is due for a service next week i am thinking of taking their advice.

But i need to know what is an average lifespan of the Sprocket and chain for a Pulsar 135LS??

i too had same issue but i drove 28000Km. My chain started to give me very bad sound when i used to raise my bike while driving.i completely changed the sprocket and chain.I asked the mechanic he told me that lifespan depends on how you drive your bike.if its at normal speed it can come upto 4-5yrs.when driving fast it comes around 2yrs.This is what i heard from him.

Hmm....well i do ride above average speeds so guess my sprocket would get more damaged...

Also there is a lot of dust here so that may also be a factor.

Well...will change them when i take my baby for service next week...thanks again..

            • Well, my previous question is not answered. Here's another one though:There is an extra plastic pipe attached to the fuel tank, what is it and where should the other end be attached to? Thanks for your attention.

                      • stupid SVC

The only thing i was proud of was the engine it has. But now i screwed that too by giving it to SVC. They worth nothing. my bike never gave vibrations at low speeds and minimal vibs at high speeds. i enjoyed a lot. but i am too worried about this now. vibs starts at whenever tacho crosses 4000 itself. can i go for local mechanics? i am staying in bangalore.

when i brake suddenly(by pressing clutch lever only) the gears get jammed. to reduce gear again,i would need to release the clutch once and press again. can anyone tell what could be the issue? my bike is one and half years old and i am having this problem right from beginning. i have told this problem to SVC whenever i give for service. as i said they worth for nothing the problem is still there.

the bike is not for long rides as the posture you would sit is not comfortable for long hours. you may feel pain in elbow, espacially left arm, as handle bar is too low and you would need to straighten your arms. you will enjoy riding if you are riding in city belts like electronic city or ORR in bangalore.

                                2. How to open headlamp assembly to replace bulb ? should I remove front transparent black cowline first ?

                                1. Yes you can just swap the stock bulb for a 55W halogen bulb. I am currently using 55w H4 used in a Swift. The focus is pretty improved as compared to the stock lamp.

Battery drain is emminent, when the head lamp is on, the horn sounds a bit weak. No other issues as yet.

                                2. About opening the assembly, you can always take it to a local mechanic ( hardly 20-30 bucks ).

P135 headlight assembly is quite complex than other pulsars, there are almost 5-6 nuts needed to be removed.

If you want to DIY, just remove the top 3 nuts on the console, lift the console up a bit and unplug the wires attached to the console. Then 2 nuts on the sides below the cowl, (1 on each side). Unscrew the two screws just below the console, the headlight assembly wud be visible by now. Replacing the bulb isn't much difficult, just go with the arrangement, you'll figure it out. Be carefull when replacing everything coz a slight twist of the plastic parts can break them. Especially the part that has 2 screws below the console.

The bike is popular, but the thread isn't much.
