@Apar-Congrats!Seems like a De-Clutch problem to me.You shouldn't face any problem changing it under warranty.

      • Techno glad to hear that you will be ok. I know you're hurting though . Ive fallen once already on my rtr too cause of the loss of grip..but it was at like 5 kmph in the parking lot at the gym. The rear tire scares me to death . I can feel it slipping all the time..even on dry surfaces. Anyways..has anyone put the racing stripes from the fi onto the carb version yet?

          • @Technocrat, Great to hear that you are alright.

@Apar congratulation for the for the new ride. It is advisable that for first 1K you keep the speed below 40 or 3k-4.5k RPM to allow a better run in period. Which will in turn ensure that engine components are set with each other properly and give a smooth run in long.

I have a doubt though. Actually I stalled the bike a couple of times while taking off from signals. But when I thumb the starter in gear, it refuses to start. I have to shift it to neutral to get it going. Is this true on all RTRs or all Fis?

P.S: All the above are MY OWN OBSERVATIONS. No debating invited!
              Apar.....congo bro....y do u want 2 bikes? send me ur R15

35kmph at 1.5k rpm? was that a typo?

As MG said it might be the clutch switch.

Its a good tyre, the recommendation for tyres are all over this thread... read em!

TVS is a tyre manufacturer as well bro!
Even Indica\Indigo has TVS tyres as OEM!

I second SP.....TVS yres are pretty good in dry tarmac and when them are warm. But still not better than other tyres

TVS manufactures tyres for cars too?

Nav......i got a very good exp on the very next day back from tirupathi. i was fully confident in leaning.......tirupathi ghats was the first time i cornored in......was taking a turn in secunderabad clock tower at around 2pm......complete dry tarmac and there was very little water in the middle of the road. was doing abt 50 kmph and the rear started to slide and bike got back to its original position as soon as it was out of the wet patch!

after that i never cornor if i see any little water or sand in the road

              @all

anyone ever tried to slide/power slide on some patchs of mud on dry road?

saw a small patch of sand yesterday near my home (sand was a bit big) was doin 20kmph in 2nd gear.....pulled in the clutch without leaving the throttle and left it.....rear started to spin and slided....revved and spinned superbly........had fun....looking for some more streches like tht

wet patch phobia in corners i thought i was the only one who had this but so many here have the same problem...thank god i am normal.....

The RTR is not for me. It has been entrusted to me by my brother to complete the run-in, replace the tires, complete first service. After that it will be his(provided he does not start liking the R15 more!). And believe me the RTR is more fun to ride than the R15(atleast inside city. Different story on the hi-way though).

I was doing some 50ish and wanted to see how it pulled, so left the throttle. Once the tacho hit 1.5K rpm, I whacked the throttle again and it happily pulled off. Why, is ~35 at 1.5K high or low? Neverthless all I am stressing here is that it does not stall.

Ok, I will get that checked. But the thing is it happens only if the bike stalls. Yesterday I switched on the engine shifted to first and switched off. Then switched it on and the self starter fired up without issues after the self-check. Weird!!! The tappet noise is ok now. Since the engine is new, I do not mind. Let it complete a 500 km and I will bombard the SC guys.

1K is just too much man!!! Its like torture. But I will keep the tacho between 4K - 6K rpm for the first 500 kms. That's end of run -in.

1.5k is supposed to be the idling speed of the bike.. did u did it with the clutch pressed?? never tried it.. but felt..we can ride it at low speeds and higher gears..does pull off well from traffic..

btw if the engine would have stalled.. bike would have come to a skidding stop

Yeah, thats the reason I tried it and put it here. No clutch. Just closed the throttle and let the tacho and speedo drop, whacked the throttle again. Try it!

                      • I was looking over in the oil thread doing some research and now im now sure if Agip oil is compatible with the rtr. According to the information in the brochure i picked up..its 5w-40 with an api rating of sj. Is this ok?

                        • hey man the best oil for the rtr fi160 is the castrol power1, i am using it in my rtr fi since day one i purchased it and i have no probems since then better try once.

                          • So my fruitless search for a new rear tyre continues . Went to an mrf shop on jc road..they told me that the zapper-q doesnt come in a tubeless version in 18"?? Is this true? Any bangalore guys please help

I had posted this elsewhere, dunno if you saw it, my friendly neighbourhood mrf dealer said the r15 front tyre costs Rs. 950. 80/90 is slightly above 3" so it should be a better match for your 3" C. I would suggest you try it in tubeless form first then add a tube if it doesnt work for you.

it seems mrf doesn't have ANY 18" tubeless tyres. somebody please comment if otherwise. btw, stay away from the q, the edge is a smooth line (unbroken) could have probs when leaning hard. go for the zapper-c or the geo cruiser, its a very good tyre, tried and tested.

I don't think Zapper-Q is so bad. Ya, may not be the best.

I am using them on two different bikes. 90/90x18 on Fiero & 100/90x18 on CBZ. In between I used 90/90x18 on Unicorn and RTR as well.
Used them in rains, race track, non-existing roads (Rajmachi) & regular highways. May be I didn't lean'ed hard enough but didn't find any issue with the tyre what so ever.

Here, is the state after Khambatki climb on CBZ. As you can see, the front was fully used up and there was still some more left in rear.

Will search and post a similar pic of tyre after a few laps on race track.
