Which is the 2nd incident that I know of that the exact same thing is happening.

    Hope for the best man.

      • That's just plain nasty thing to have happened. Wonder how some innocuous looking activity can sometimes lead to such results.

Can't say I know what you feel, it's one thing to happen to self and another when it happens to anyone else. Take care and get well soon.

Yes, I do have some information. I checked on the PBK at FC and they had the exact same red colored oil which they were using for the 220s being serviced there. I asked the brand and they replied "Motul mineral 20W50".

Has anyone tried the regular Motul 20W50?

This is a freaky incident man...but dont really know why was the bike running? Ideally, it should never be running when cleaning the chain as its easy to get your fingers stuck in.
But at the same time, accidents do happen so keep it all behind and we all wish you a very speedy recovery.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Thanks for taking the pain to post with one hand. I understand your noble intention - i am sure you will get well soon.
The day i learnt about your incident, i have stopped cleaning the chain with bike running.
I had been doing it for one whole year..i used to put the bike in first gear and open a little throttle and then clean the chain - how risky !!
                  But not anymore.

All >> Switch off the engine before you start cleaning the chain.

But one doubt - isn't it supposed to switch off when its engaged in 1st gear with clutch released ??

Clutch less shift... and there's no load on the tires... very less chance of engine stopping.

                        • Hi guys... I have done 13K KMs on my Odo and my bike is 9 months old.. Pretty comfortable with my Bike's performance so far...

                          Average Mileage - 35 KMPL
Top Speed attained on speedo - 138 KMPH

But i am not at all satisfied with the After Sale Service from the Chennai (Jai Bajaj) Pro-Biking Center... but i don't have any other choice as there is only one pro-biking center in chennai

Now whats the next step?? Should I wait till morning or use SAE90grade oil now only
You have two ways to go about this, either you can let it dry for sometime i.e. 5-10 mins, you can keep the bike on stand and let it run in first gear so the excess diesel flys off.

                            OR

Clean the chain with petrol after diesel, the petrol will remove the diesel. But, once you are finish cleaning with petrol, lube the chain IMMEDIATELY, as Petrol is highly active and will harden the O-Rings.

@ ALL : can any software guru or a computer compotomp do this ? If done it would open a better spectrum of tuning the bike.

I personally feel that the SC guys are quiet sceptical while handling the
D&F tool when attached to the bike.

MG, praful,chetan.... whats your take brothers ??
The Dealer whom your P200 friend was speaking too....doesn't know what the hell he was talking about.

                            1. Its a Universal truth that foam is the best when it comes to filtering. Don't believe me, use google judiciously!

                            2. Tuning the 220 to run with a KnN, you DON'T need to hotwire the ECU or anything like that. It can be done by just the air screw+diagnostoc tool.

Dealers dishing out such crappy information is so bad !

I've used it, and I can say that its the best Mineral oil I've used till date. Lasted me a good 2.5K under hard riding, including a 800 kms one day ride.

Good you posted here, hopefully Bajaj will take notice!

What is the issue you are facing that they are unable to resolve?

I've actually had a pretty good experience with them towards my last few services.

                            • Hi,
Posted this info on P220 thread. Applicable to P220 ofcrs. So here it is...

Went on a short trip to Murthal & Kurukshetra yesterday. While returning back, stopped at Petrol Station. Elect starter wont work. Just a 'khut' sound. Tried for 15 mnts. No solution. Asked the petrol attendant to push the bike. Bike started at 2nd gear. Then didnt stopped the engine untill i reached my Home then to PBK Okhla. Relay malfunctioned. They replaced it with Avenger's. Working fine now. I thing I was told. Whenever this problem, just open the Battery side panel, remove the rubber cover from the two nodes & just short the two nodes (nuts) with a metal rod, screw driver which will complete the connection & whola!!! Bike will come into life
                              Useful info, thought of sharing
