Rule #1 when cleaning the chain: Do not clean the chain with the bike running and in gear. The chain is very much capable of pulling your fingers in the sprocket.

                          • well i had just finished cleaning the chain and the cloth was on the base of the chain, went in the house got the chain spray and kept it on the seat turned the bike on, realised the cloth was on the seat bent down to pick it up, the chain spray decided to fall from the seat and on to the gear lever, the cloth along with my right index finger got pulled in and before i knwe it it came out the other end grabbed the whole finger with my other hand and rushed for surgery. Am proberbly going to pose part of the finger as in up to the first joint after the nail. Still hoping for the best, this happened on the 14th of dec
