220 can surely be started with Push - Start.
I had to do this on the last day of my just concluded South Karnataka / western ghats tour, last week. My bike's battery was discharging pretty quickly when headlights are ON. Reason being the coil failing to provide enough power for the headlights. I didn't have time to replace the coil, so took the risk and went ahead for a 5 day tour. After riding for 200 kms in night on the last day, battery was completely discharged. So started the bike in an incline and somehow got back home at 2 AM on Tuesday. Bike didn't start y'day monring also - when the battery is weak, the bike won't crank also. Again i push started in 2 gear. So in emergencies, it can surely be push started.
Praful, got the tire changed ?
My bike's high RPM warning indicator starts blinking only at 130 kmph now - The SIRAC effect
It used to start blinking at around 122 when i was running on VYDE.
Last weekend trip was historic as well.
My bike's odo was reading 30 K Kms when climbing Kodachadri at night !
Dec 15 th - the last day of the trip - was her first b'day - now
she is One year old and odo reads 32 K Kms
She has been flawless during this one year , filled with touring.
Has anyone tried OSRAM Night Breakers bulbs on your 220's ?
I guess they are available in H7 configuration as well. And same wattage also - 55 W OR 60 W
I am thinking of going for these bulbs for both high & low beams - any suggestions ?

The 220 can be push started only if there is some amount of juice left in the battery. If the battery is completely dead, the fuel pump will not run and in that scenario even push starting will not help.Originally posted by caravikiran View Post220 can surely be started with Push - Start.

Got the Vyde last night!
The contact patch on the Vyde is same as a new Zapper-C. Its just that the profile is more rounded. I din't feel any difference in acceleration, only difference felt was a slight increase in flickability.
The grip atleast in the last 30kms felt as good if not better than the Zapper-C._________________________

Keeping that post in mind, can someone plz tell what happened in here last nite???Originally posted by kushanth View PostSunny what the hell was wrong in my previous post ??
My starter issue seems to resolved, yesterday the whole day I was riding the bike hard, and the cranking problem just resolved itself.
Took it to PBK anyhow this morning, they replace the springs and bushes on the starter clutch. Starting feels a bit more smoother now. Lets see how long this fix holds!

The PBK guys said(not too surely, I must add) Bajaj uses Shell as the default oil for 220. Is that true?
Anyways, should I change oil around 250km? If so, which one should I be using?
Sorry if this has already been mentioned earlier in the thread, but now I don't think I have that much of patience going through the thread

Various PBKs use various oils depending on their availability and contracts with vendors. What is common in all these is the grade and specification.Originally posted by montiez View PostThe PBK guys said(not too surely, I must add) Bajaj uses Shell as the default oil for 220. Is that true?

You can use any 20W50 conforming to the grade as mentioned in the service manual. Mostly, the PBKs here in pune have been using 20W50 (of correct grade) from Motul and HP.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

My bike's 2nd free service was due and went to the PBK today. I told them i wanted to put an engine oil that i bought but the guy there outrightly refused!
I told i've got the oil right now with me so if you want check the grade and the API standards but he didnt budge. I asked him if i change it by myself or from any garage he wouldn't come to know and he said yes
Do i change it or not?
And do they clean the air and oil filter or do i have to mention it specifically?

Second free service usually means wash the bike lube the chain and hand it back to the customer.Originally posted by Samyaza View PostMy bike's 2nd free service was due and went to the PBK today. I told them i wanted to put an engine oil that i bought but the guy there outrightly refused!

Oil change is not mentioned as per the service schedule.
Btw, if the Khivraj guys are not willing to change the engine oil, you could it replaced at a local mechanic or even the other pbk service center._________________________

I say wait atleast for all the free servicings to be completed before you shift to any other engine oil (fully synthetic or else).Originally posted by Samyaza View PostMy bike's 2nd free service was due and went to the PBK today. As for cleaning the air-filter, they do it by themselves in every scheduled service. You do not need to specifically mention it; this is a normal procedure.

@Praful
Oil change is mentioned in the manual and i asked Pranay too about it. He said they should change it. They flush out the old oil and replace it with the one you give but i was surprised when he said they just dont touch any other oil.
@Aryan
The SC guy said the same thing about changing the oil after completing free servicings.
I think its best if i called up the main Khivraj branch and clarified with them. I don't want the warranty to become void.Last edited by Samyaza; 12-18-2008, 12:06 PM.

Please run through the manual again, I specifically remember not seeing a scheduled oil change for the second free service. Anyways, changing oil is upto you.Originally posted by Samyaza View PostBajaj treats bikes differently in Delhi and Bangalore i guess

And like Aryan mentioned cleaning of airfilter is done every service and I've seen that happen in every service centre.
And if you change your oil outside, you warranty will not be void. There's is no way that they can detect if your oil has been changed.
Btw, not sure about oil filter cleaning, if its done or not.
PS: Which oil have you bought?_________________________

If the other PBK guys refuse then ill change it from somewhere else since they wont come to know. Oil filter isn't much of worry. Only the air filter is because the ride to my college is pretty dusty and it might be clogged.Originally posted by prafultripathy View PostPlease run through the manual again, I specifically remember not seeing a scheduled oil change for the second free service.
