    But, i found out that im having a 38T 200's rear sprocket on my bike.
    After a lot of arguments with the service head, he checked the front sprocket and its a 14T one. He said usually other 220's have 15 teeth ones in front so its not the reason for my bike topping out at 125 kmph.
    I had a few other committments so i didnt have time to check other 220's there. Is this true?? are all of you having a 15T front sprocket??
    Yup, Kolkata PBK sux !!! But do reply on the front sprocket issue..
    220/200 Front Sprocket - 14T
    220 Rear Sprocket - 37T
    200 Rear Sprocket - 38T

    Even with the 200's 38T rear sprocket your bike should be doing more than 125 atleast.

    Have you got your chain sprocket kit replaced? Its possible that they have replaced it with a 200's chain sprocket kit.

    Btw, do send a complaint mail to Bajaj about this.

    @all I actually wanted to ask will it really matter if I use a 40T sprocket in the rear ... I hope it wont screw my chain.
    The ZMA's 40T rear is a direct fit, you'll get oodles of acceleration if you fit that, but all that at a cost of making the bike even more short geared. Plus the biggest risk is of stressing the engine components, like the the crank. Moreover you will loose out greatly on topspeed. You can use a 200's rear sprocket if you want a slight increase in acceleration.

    By redling do you mean hitting the rev-limiter or just when the over-rev indicator comes on?

    In 1st - 4th gear are you able to hit rev-limiter?

    You're the first person I have come across to say that Castrol is better than Motul!

      I have tried sprocketing before on a P180, a one teeth change at the back is practically worthless, there is no difference in the real world.

        I have run the 200's rear sprocket on my bike for about 500kms on the road and about 150kms on a track....it makes a good noticeable difference.

        The 220 suffers from slight lack on punch low down in the rev range, with a 200's sprocket thats eliminated.

          • K&N?

            I was wondering whether K&N would be fine for our bike.

            If yes how much would it affect performance & mileage

            I am sorry if this has been already discussed in the thread .

            • @Praful.. I shfted like this, 1st gear 6000,2nd,3rd,4th till the over rev light comes on(I guess dat at 9000+ rpm) But wat ever I should try it it cant cross 120km/hr nd it also can't touch 9000rpm in 5th.
              Let me know how u guys shift, wat's d top rpm u touched on 5th nd the top speed on speedo.. Any idea how can i cross that 118-120km/hr mark even 5km strch didn't workd !!

                well if you ask me here is my style

                1st ---> 4K RPM
                2nd ---> 5K RPM
                3rd ----> 6K RPM
                4th ----> 8K RPM
                5th -----> HOOOOOOOOOO HAAAAAAAAAAAA

                well today again keeping Castrol ACTIV 4T Xtra in mind I ripped the bike again I hit a max of 132KMPh @ 10K+ RPM on the Eastern Express highway.

                well if you are in MUMBAI ...why not meet up prolly we could swap bikes and see if I or u feel the difference.. PM if you'd like my phony.

                dada Bajaj says NO NO to K&N and if you ask me I used K&N for a odd 3K KM and removed.. gives more trouble ( prolly lack of tuning ) than performance. No doubt the performance is there, you'll feel a sudden increase in the bike's torque.. but at the cost of bike's exhaust back firing and then freaky air filter indicator keeps blinking forever. I tried to bypass the sensor by simply unpluging the sensor wire but then since all the sensors are interlooped all of them go for a toss but yeah you could change to NGK Iridiums.

                @ all ....
                Can someone explain me better the difference in performance if I change the rear sprockets.

                What if I use Pulsar 200's sprockets ?

                What if I use ZMA's sprockets ?

                      dada words cant explain the hoohaa thingy. As mentioned earlier I hit 10K+ RPM today. The rev limiter started blinking earlier but the RPM kept on increasing gradually. I dont know but I have this feeling that your ECU is messing something with the RPM of your steed could be true could be my imagination.

                      I suggest you get in touch with chetan he has got some good setting in BAJAJ PUNE, maybe he can hook u up with someone from the Bajaj team.

                      Ek baar Castrol Activ 4T Extra try karo dada... A oil cannot give up just 1200 KM old whichever it be. You must be redlining your bike way too much, I think you should avoid redlining the bike. Which PBK you get your bike done from ?

                        Thnx for the reply Praful !! My bike is 6 months old and no, i have not changed my sprocket ! ever !
                        But I have 14T is front and 38T in rear ! How can this happen???
                        I'll leave for short trip tomorrow morning, so will surely send a complaint mail once i return after 2 days. Hope my 220 wont let me down this time also!
                        Checked thrice yesterday for top speed.When the engine was hot, it did 126 kmph at around 9.5k rpm and i ran out of road.
                        But for the next 2 times when i tried the needle got stuck in 9k rpm and it wont rev more. Is this a common thing?? The max speed was 120kmph.

                        @sudipta, are you having a 37T rear sprocket??
                        Have you checked your CO%??Have you reported this to Sinha da? and how much is your bike doing on the dyno of pbk??

                          Loads of probs with that, first there ain't no suitable smaller rear sprocket so you could get more topend. So the other option left is manufacture your own, that too has it downfalls, like higher cost. Plus no guarantee that you'll get more topend. On the ZMA a smaller rear sprocket did not give any increase, as the drop in torque was so much that the bike did only as much it did with the stock sprocket.

                          Have thought a lot about this and tried getting my hands dirty too, in the end it just ain't worth it.

                          Please try and hit the rev-limiter in each gear. Go beyond the over-rev indicator. Rev-limiter hits somewhere around 10.3K RPM. I don't remember exactly, but this what my bike used to do at each gear before the rev-limiter cut in..
                          1st - 47 Kmph
                          2nd - 69 Kmph
                          3rd - 93 Kmph (I guess, don't remember this clearly)
                          4th - 119 Kmph
                          5th - Can't hit rev-limiter in 5th....

                          Putting in a larger rear sprocket means you gain acceleration and loose out on topend.

                          On a stock 37T Rear 220, the bike does 83 Kmph @ 6K RPM in 5th gear. With a 200 38T Rear sprocket it does 80 Kmph at the same RPM and gear.
                          No Idea with a ZMA sprocket, but would do about 76 Kmph I assume.

                          If you want more accleration at the cost of loosing out a bit on top end go for the 200's rear sprocket.

                            Thats where trial and error comes in. It wouldn't hurt the mechanical parts too much so I guess testing it is okay. No problems about smaller rear sprockets availability, I would most probably get it from Nepal, there are loads of choices there with no problems of fit. They last a while too, as I had them on the classic for 2 and half years. They cost as much as the sprockets here so not a problem there too.

                            the Funda here (according to magazines and sprocketing articles I read), the closest way to calculate your difference in speed for an RPM is to take the ratio of the new to the old sprocket. Say your P220 is running on a 37T, the ratio you would get is 37/38 = 0.973. At 6K most 220s do 83-84 kmph. So multiply that with the new ratio 0.973 and you would get 80-81 kmph. It also matches with the speedo indicated speed Praful has said, so it is pretty much accurate. Of course higher the speed, higher the difference. So if your bike touched 120 at a certain rpm, then in the same rpm it would touch 116.xx with the new P-200 sprocket.

                              Do keep in mind the pitch of the chain, as its pretty unique and thats where a fitting causes an issue. And don't go for more than a 1 teeth drop, or the loss in torque is a gonna be a lot.

                              Anyways, if and when every you do get a 36T rear, lemme know....I wanna feel the difference....
