Just want to chime in a bit about AFR in general, for petrol the ideal ratio is close to 1:14.7. However, most IC engines run slightly richer than that because of imperfections in the fuel and engine (there are notable exceptions however). And during high load, like fast acceleration, it will run even richer, to deal with spark advance and the need to generate more power.Originally posted by Aparajith View Post

You're most welcome. I hope will be able to contribute some bits to this great thread. Even more so since I'm considering to go for a new 220 some time in the next few months (provided it all goes as I want). I've already read most of this thread as well as asked every one in the what bike forum about things. The info contained here is really really helpful to someone like me, it will be a tremendous help when dealing with the SC here in ahmedabad. Though I hope the SC here knows what it's doing, since I as far as I know there's just one here.Originally posted by Aparajith View Post^^Thanks for the heads-up Andante!!
Also some guys said that 220 can be rather moody at times, can any of you shed some light on what I could possibly face? Not that I expect much trouble since I do hear that Bajaj has fixed almost all the issues with the bike by now. It's just that I like to be prepared.

Don't worry too much about the tantrums!
Its like every other girlfriend, all of them are different and throw different kinds of tantrums and some don't!
Prior to the crash, there was another xBhpian Neeldude from Ahd, don't know if he's a silent member now!
I'm holding back my "welcome to the 220 club" message till you actually get one!
As long as you love Torque,I can assure you that you will love the 220!_________________________

Andante : The issues are mostly related to poor service.I have always felt that if you try to tweak the bike more , the service guys will always screw it up , translating to a every-saturday service center visit and cancelling a weekend ride
So the best way to keep the bike fit is to keep it running hard on the highways on weekends and away from SC.sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk

nope , visit every 2.5-3k kms for service ..... i visit sc every 2-3 months just for standard servicing.Originally posted by Andante View PostEvery weekend at the SC? I hope that's more because of being perfectionist than actually needing to be there? I would assume that once a month should be more than enough to keep this bike on the road.sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk

Since I'm not too familiar with all the bollywood things, that goes right by me. (Yes, even after three years.)Originally posted by chilled_fire View Post^^^ OT : cldnt help it but , am not Amir khan
I assume you're getting things like chain lube and such done? Since I can't imagine there would any big things to care for every 2.5-3K kms. (Forgive my ignorance, I'm sure once I do make the plunge for a 220 I'll know soon enough.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Postnope , visit every 2.5-3k kms for service ..... i visit sc every 2-3 months just for standard servicing.

Ah, I'm seeing the picture now, even my current bike (Shine) has a similar experience. See, this is how much of a biker I am...Originally posted by chilled_fire View Post^^^ oops my bad then ,
About chain lube , can be done at home we not get motul chain lube and cleaner easily.
the regular service for a 220 is at almost every 2.5 -3K kms.
Again, I have to say xBhp is a great place to get up to speed on the particulars of bikes and also details of specific bikes. Kudos to all of you! And thanks for all the patience you've got with this alien biker.
