  • HELP:Pulsar 220 CC clutch.

    Hello All,
Kindly help me with the problem I have a with my Pulsar 220cc it is about 3 months old. After my first free service, when i hold the clutch fully and shift to first gear my bikes jerks a little bit, (like the same way when we shift to first gear without clutching), but bike is ON. No by holding the clutch fully and turning the handle left or right there is screaking sound from the clutch(Just like somthing is pulled extensively).
Can you let me know how i can solve this problem. This did not happen earlier but occurred after the first free service. when i went back to the service station(khivraj motors kasturba road bangalore) he said it is a normal behaviour.
Please help me out save my bike.

Does the guy even know what he is talking!!!! Scrape some foam from the seat or reduce stiffness of rear shocks or at the worst get a pair of shocks a wee bit smaller in size.

              Bending the Chassis..?? God..!!

Here are a few simple tips:

              1. Set the rear suspension spring setting at softest
              2. If Possible scrape off a few mm of foam from the seat
              3. Fitting low profile tyres (like the ones found on FZ16)
              4. The Easiest is to ride around wearing boots with thick soles (eg. Woodland boots)

Wow. This thread really burns pages doesn't it?

Thank you guys for the appreciation. Going over the first 100 pages reminded me of the right decision I had made for myself - the 220. Fell in love with it all over again. But it also left me with overdose!

But topspeed is affected by many variables, one of the biggest factors being wind resistance and direction of wind. This affects your topspeed greatly. Try taking the same highway stretch without the bag on a early morning when there is relatively lesser wind.

This is just one of the variables affecting topspeed, for the 220 specifically the fuel filter also is another major variable.

Tyre pressure, state of tune, ambient temperature/humidity,quality of fuel, lubing of drive chain are some of the other variable that affect topspeed, and acceleration also!
                  +1. Another first page post.
@RX: It does take a little time for the P220 to go from 120-130, so I would also suggest you do it in extremely safe conditions with no traffic.

The chassis should never be altered in any way in any form, unless you really really know what you are doing. I am sure the mechanic does not know what he is doing.

+1 This also reduces the vibrations to your feet. Moreover in my case fat soled shoes make my knee touch the fairing.

I don't know why but my bike is running so smooth nowadays!

                            • Question : Can CO change in 2 days ??

Example : i got my bike after servicing(17k kms) on sunday when i asked they said CO was set to 3. now as i said before my bikes feels harsh these days which continued een after service so just outa curiosity i checked the CO today at petrol pump and it showed 2.07. so can this happen in 2 days (in say 150 kms ?) ? plz note petrol remains same - shell,
Can CO as 2 cause harshness ?specially at revs froms 6kRPM ?

                              • chilled_fire >> the measurement of the CO in the petrol bunk is not the correct mearurement. The exhaust come out of the engine head and then into the cat con and then out through the silencer end pipe.
The CO level set at PBK is the one before the cat con which is approx the true value from the exhaust gases
The one in petrol bunk(assuming its measured from the end of the silencer - like how the emission is tested usually) is after the cat con.
One of the purpose of the cat con is to reduce the emmission levels.. so theoritically speaking the one set by PBK (before cat con) should be more than the one measured at the silencer pipe end(after cat con)
