The best part of my bike is its Mileage. The bike gives an awesome mileage of 40kmpl whn i rip the engine (Driving at 120+ at every opportunity and racing upto 100 at every sigal possible in the shortest time) and gives an unbeleivable 50kmpl at sane driving(between 60 and 80kmph). Its truly a fill it shut it forget it bike.

bhai kya karwa rakha hai apni bike ko???itni mileagae kaise aa rahi hai!!!??
    :O :O :O

    yr 220 hi hai na!!! :P :P :P

Previously with my P180... I had difference in mileage at different conditions and speeds. But with the P220... the mileage in city (extreme stop and go or loads of gear changes) and highways at 80kmph or 110kmph (did 600km up and 600km down mum-goa @ 110kmph on NH4).... I get 40+ mileage, I dont know if its the Fi difference or something else. Seems like what ever I do.... the bike returns consistent fuel efficiency... touch wood .

@ Chetan... I got an average of 48-49kmpl. Speed range 40kmph till 100kmph. And LOADS of Ghats. Now dont feel jealous.
Yup I know... NV told me ..... its good you are getting good mileage.... I always felt that P220 returns better figures in the whole pulsar range... and its proving to be true.

I certainly have a feeling the bike will nt be able to touch the 135 max speed written in the manual. And these days i think my P220 does nt go beyond 125 as the bike touches the redline at 124 kmph and struggles to go beyond.
That bridge has a lot of cross winds... try for a top speed somewhere else.

You are getting very good mileage... may be you shouldn't try to tweak things for better top speed. Check it on some other roads for your best speed.

I have NEVER seen the better side of 40kmpl on my bike till date....

              • Chill saiajith.Every bike has a different tolerance level.I never get anything above 32 how hard I try.Normal figures are 28-30.As long as your bike is running perfectly you should be very happy.

                • I have no idea why my bikes givin such a good mileage but i beleive a lot depends on hw u drive ur bike during the first 2000 kms. Its said that the mileage the bike gives during the runnin period is what it sticks to for the rest of its life.

I was for a moment thinkin of goin to PBK to see what they could do to increase the top speed bt thn i thght what if they screwed the mileage to increase the speed, its nt everyday or alll the time that i would be drivin at 135kmph, so i said 125kmph of top speed is ok wimme as long as the mileage is extraordinary and decided against goin to PBK.

the suggested CO setting is in between 2.75-3.25

try to adjust your CO at 2.8.....you may get a good mileage and a decent mixture too...
                    its all about CC...

That is extremely low, MG. Your bike is extremely intolerable. But yes I agree with you.
@saiajith: You are getting good mileage (when I say good, its on the basis of what most people get around here).

                        • With the P220 doing 83-84 kmph at 6000 rpm and also helped by a little bit of harshness coming in at the same rpm level, I usually find myself riding between 4000-6000 rpm.. with gear changes usually coming in at 4000 rpm.

I am pretty sure that if anybody on a P220 rides like the way I usually do , the mileage shouldn't drop below 35 kmpl.

I thought maybe something was wrong with my style of riding. So here's what I did for 3 tankfuls. I did not go beyond 6K RPM (I did but it was momentarily and rarely), shifted at 4K RPM and kept to 3-6K RPM riding......end result got a 3kmpl increase from my normal riding style!

So I guess its just something about my bike that likes put dents in my wallet!

@inflammable: Waiting to for your trip log man! And 49Kmpl , this beemari of high mileage is only specific to Pune/Mumbai 220's.

@Chetan: Welcome to Bengaluru. Hats off to you, amazing patience to ride at 80kmph on a road like this.....

                              Another Update about my bike:
Went to the other PBK in my city to get the LHS stay, guess what those buggers had closed spare section for some audit till wednesday!

Tired, irritated and bored went back to my PBK to ask them how much time would the stay take to come....They said stock has arrived....

Finally got it changed total bill came to 710/-. Have removed the saree guard for the moment.

Also for my bike's vibes issue they said nothing can be done, and bike magically din't drink oil in the 1000Km observation window after the last service. But did a 1400kays trip over the last weekend and half the oil from oil window is gone!

So now their next trial and error method to fix it changing the piston rings. Lets see how much it helps. Will have to run-in the bike for 500Kms.

                              • A Haridwar ride gone wrong

Me and my Brother in law decided to go to Haridwar this Saturday as he had some work there. He has a P150 at home so i was unsure about giving him a drive on my 220. Anyway, i drove till Muzaffarnagar bypass so that major chunk of the traffic was handled by me. He took over after that and i sat as pillion. Since he was driving at 50-60 i was not very much concerned.
Then, it happened. Just after Roorkie, while we were cruising at 60, suddenly i flew into the air, landed on my head, bounced off the road two times and finally came to stop after 2-3 rolls.
It so happened that there was a cow in our lane(its a two lane shit of a highway with high traffic density. Normally, a strict no no for a pleasurable ride) and my bro-in-law didnt factor in that the cow could suddenly decide to move right into our path

He injured his ankles and some bruises.
Me, i got hit where i didnt have any protective gear on . Jacket and helmet saved me but no gloves(have lost them) meant some bruises on the hand and no knee pad meant a wound on my knee.

                                Bike Damage:
                                RHS fairing, a big scratch.
LHS fairing, bent a bit out of shape coz of impact with cow.
Silencer: has come unscrewed and now my bike sounds more like a Yezdi
                                Handling has gone bonkers.
                                Headlights were fine.

We decided to continue the trip as the roorkie and haridwar showrooms were downright rude. Straight away "No 220".I asked that atleast a mechanic would be available and they said.. its Saturday na.

Anyway, job done in haridwar we headed back finally at 4:30 in the evening.
Night riding in the haridwar noida route is horrifying to say the least. Oncoming traffic simply believes that bikes dont exist. Since bro was in a bad shape we stopped at roorkie for an hour.
If things werent bad enough, suddenly, i ran over a pothole and the high beam went off and the low beam started focussing on the trees.
For 5 hours i drove using other peoples headlights, dhaba tubelights , tail lights and oncoming traffic. All this while i was already in pain because of a TT shot

Feel sorry for my bike. Its as if it cries with every throttle burst i give it now.

Strange occurence: At 5th gear 4k rpm my bike used to do 54kmph. Now its doing 59kmph. No idea why.
