As per the PBK: There was some mild scoring on the cylinder block and that's normal, usage specific score patterns happen on all bikes. But what I suspect is why did this show up after the De-Carb job done on the head?

The condition could be possibly have been caused due to certain unique set of factors. But there is another 220 that I know has the same prob!
AFAIK, De-Carb should be done essentially in a white/clean room. Could there be a possibility it was not done in a dust-free environment.

How many kms has your bike done? The Comets are nice bikes but a pain in terms of maintenance cost. A service network in India would make the Comet a sensible buy and nice bike to own. That thing is torquey as heaven!

I don't have doubts on the process followed by the service centre. I am more doubt of an error introduced from the servicing technician's side!

Bike is at little over 34K now!

Comet is a pretty damn good bike for touring IMO! Like you said, only if the A.S.S. was better!

        • Hello everyone.....back on Xbhp after a long time....(5 Days)....I have been suffering from a long term.... ^bike not going beyond 6k rpm problem^ and when the issue got over my head yesterday...I called my nearest Pbk...^The One located at Meerut^ told that guys my whole problem.....he listened to it for like 10 mins only to give me some other guys number.....

I called the second person who is supposed to be the Engineer present......told him the whole problem....even told him abt the solenoid thing or maybe the fuel-filter but he was adamant on it being a Tuning problem and asked me to get its tuning re-set.....

bt how come I face the same problem within every 200 kms....I already have got the tuning reset thrice.....the bike seems to be okay for 100 kms bt after that again the same problem.......

Guys need your help....what should I tell the guy at Pbk especially the engineer who won't listen to me and would continue on tuning the bike again and again....

For the facts...ma bike is from the 2008 batch completed 1098 kms till date....first service was done at 600 kms....

and yeah can i get the second service done nw...I knw its too early bt still....

          • ^^ serious problem you have bro. Especially because the problem comes randomly. I think now a more assertive method needs to be used by you, like complaining to your sales manager. Could there be a ECU or spark plug issue?

            • I won't be able to take my bike to the Pbk for like atleast 30 more days...till my exams get over.....

what about the service thing....can I get it done at like 1300-1400 kms instead of the 2000 kms deadline.....'coz thats the only reason why my dad will allow me to take the bike to the Pbk....

And yeah one more thing....The problem comes up only when I have driven like 1-2 kms on a single run....after that if i switch the bike off and restart it ,it gets back to normal....for another 2-3 kms and so on.....can it be sumthin due to the ECU....??? I 've been facing this problem right from day1....but it was never so troublesome....

I don't think it is advisable to do it so early. You could take your bike to PBK by telling your dad that it needs a part replacement. Because I actually think it might need one.

EDIT: Is there a progressive loss in rev or does the rev cut off exactly at 6K rpm?

Things that come to my mind from the top of my head are:

                  1) Fuel filter clog?
                  2) Air filter block?
                  3) ECU problem? (I am telling you this because I had an issue where the bike was not idling properly. I checked everything from spark plugs to filters, but nothing could resolve it. Then when the mechanic tried another ECU from another 220 it worked. Tell the mechanic to try atleast you never know. This bike has a mind of its own)
                  4) Spark plug not firing properly. I am doubting this because according to PBK the second spark plug fires after 6K rpm. Maybe there is some irregularity.

I've been thinking about the same....

                        1) Fuel filter clog....maybe but I read it on the same thread that the more black the white plastic box like thing under the tank more is the filter clogged....but I had 3 p220s in a row checked the filters of the three and mind it....mine was the cleanest.....

                        2) Air FIlter...Don't Know....But I've been facing this problem from the very first day so, and don't the PBK guys clean the air filter on the first service.......

                        3) ECU.....this can be the problem....'coz the bike when switched off and restarted behaves normally for sometime....

                        4) Spark Plug not firing....well how to check that....pls elaborate...

And what abt the solenoid replacement.....???

                        • I was really bored today. When i got in a secluded area, i gave her everything and redlined in 3rd,4th and went on to around 110 in 5th. All this in housing society area. Returned home grinning ear-to-ear.

Does the bike's acceleration change at around 10k kms? And i think it is more responsive now.
