Cant provide feedback right now because m not able to ride the bike for 45 days atleast...
I guess I need to ask Kevin for a small report on the grip levels over the stock tyre.

    here in delhi
at mrf showrroms its for rs.1100
at a tyre shop for rs.900 -(200) for old tyre exchange- 50(xbhp)=rs.650/-

there is another one of IRC (the flame design) for rs.1300/-...my frnd using it and he totaly happy with it.
    No idea about fz's front
    choice is yours.
I need a tyre that complements the increased grip with the Sirac at the rear. Plus as eventhough you have reported no difference in speedo reads, I still have my doubts. Sorry buts difficult digest that a 9mm drop in radius is not going to change the speedo/odo reads. I agree that a less than 1cm change is not going to affect much, but for bike like mine that clocks many kms, over a period of time the small difference will compound by a huge number.

But I'm sure the feel of that tyre would be awesome. Any idea if the 100/80 FZ front tyre is available in Delhi? MRF stocks are still not here in Bangy

Btw, that IRC tyre you are reffering to is it the wildflare?

    • Praful, as someone who has used the R15 front on Leh-terrains, I would advice u against it! Its awesome on city roads or rain, but pathetic on mud/slush/Leh-like terrain roads and off-roading. It will offer u pathetic grip! Forget off-roading if u use this tire. U will spend all ur time and energy trying to control the slipping and sliding front.

If u want a really good tire I will suggest the stock/FZ's front or any thing else of ur choice. But not the R15 tire.

P.S: Am going to get new tires for the R15 this weekend. Can check for the FZ front if u wish...

Thank you! Just the kind of information I was looking for.

But the R15 tyres arent so different from the stock/FZ tyres so I don't expect any magical improvement in off-road handling. I just felt that the wider 100 section of the FZ tyre will provide more contact patch and hence increase the grip levels to match up the sirac at the rear!

PS: Small update about the Michelin Sirac. I've used it for close to about 1500kms over the past 2 weeks now and I am just amazed at what this tyre is capable off.
        -Braking distance has reduced
        -Vibrations have reduced (taller gearing)
        -Cornering Grip is awesome
        -Offroad grip is awesome
        -Wet grip is awesome
-dry grip is as good as the Vyde
        -Mileage has increased (taller gearing)
-Flickabilitly has improved (no idea how though! )

Look at the R15 tire closer yaar!! All the little treads on the sides of ur stock tire will be absent on the R15's. IMHO that does its part in wet/slush grip. Plus its softer - not much of a help while off-roading. Also the FZ tire has deeper treads than the R15's! So that should help. The stock TVS felt better in handling mud/slush(strictly, not water/dry) over the R15 tire.

            How abt this?

Initially i thought there was a problem with the tyre.....but my fork was set tight to compensate the worned out TVS tyres. Off road grip is good. have'nt really rode in wet condition ever since i got this tyre...and i have'nt tried serious cornoring too. There are lots of wobbling issue which needs to be fixed before i try it!

But this tyre seems to be wearing of pretty quickly.....have done 8k kms and 50% of the tyre had already worned out

P.s - braking has improved a lot over the TVS tyre

i have decided with my tyre change options.. FZ's front tyre and sirac..
now, what i want to know is the drag capability of the tyre. i have heard someone saying that dragging with the sirac's on will wear the clutch plates pretty soon. how far is this true? what i think is coz of the increased load on the engine, due to heavier tyre, there will be some or the other effect..

Well, with sirac then next best option would be IRC flare...its pretty good...the 1300rs. is well spent for such a tyre
.well have not much idea about the FZ one but yea it may go good with Sirac
About the speedo error thing, I've already done 6000kms with it never faced such issue.
For my p200 speed is (5th gear)
                4K rpm: 54kmph
                5K rpm: 68kmph
                6K rpm: 80kmph
and I have a black old speedo(not the white one)

About the availability in Delhi, may I have the proper name for the FZ tyre...will enquire it

and yea Is sirac with tube or tubeless?
                its all about CC...

You will start loosing drags if you put the Sirac, it slows down the acceleration by a bit. If you want to drag, then I'd say go for the R15 front and rear...will be pretty awesome!

And the Sirac is heavier only by a bit, but not so much that clutch life will go down by a thousand odd kays...

Are you sure the IRC Wildflare that had put up a link for is available for 1300 in Delhi?? Ravikiran payed close to 2.5K for that tyre here!

Wildflare no doubt looks good, but seems to be a very road oriented tyre. Will decide between the Wildflare and FZ front, depending on what is available in Delhi next month end!

Well yes definitely. But I wonder how the R15 rear would fit in the rims of the 220 which are far bigger than the R15s. It would be an odd fit.

I think I would be also going with the setup Rahul is going.

                    FZ front and Sirac rear.

The difference in rim width for would be less than 1 cm, I *assume*.

It might actually be a good fit, coz on the R15 the rear tyre forms a very aggresive 'V' profile for superb cornering grip. On the 220 I believe it would more of a 'U' shaped profile providing similar grip levels at all lean angles. Anyways the 220 cannot corner as aggressively as a R15.

Any idea where i can get NGK Iridium in Pune
My bikes done 10000 kms so i think
Its time to change the Spark Plugs

                        • Get it from the authorised NGK dealer in Nana Peth. IIRC its opp. or next to HDFC bank there.

Btw, you don't need to change the plug just because its done 10,000 km. Thats just a rough estimate. Change only if its looks worn...

thanks for clarifying the doubt.. anyhow i have stopped dragging these days.. the recession has hit me now..
during my last burnout session i got an average of 27 kmpl ...
changed the fuel filter.. lets see how it goes now..
no more money in my pocket..

today i bugged the michelin dealer for over an hour for the sirac's.. he immediately called to someone and assured me that the tyres would be here within a weeks time.. the profile is 120/90-17.. want to get it before prabhakar anna steals it again..

R15's rear tyre would surely look very odd.. i think the present setup is the best VFM...

i feel those tyres would support leaning better than any tyre..
