Fuel Filter: Replace it every 3-5K kms. If you still insist on cleaning it, then you need to take it to PBK who will remove the filter and clean by blowing compressed air. But that is not very effective.

Air Filter: You need to remove the filter and then dip it completely in diesel. Press it from top so all the dirt is expelled into the diesel. Then squeeze out the diesel and pour in new diesel and repeat the same process. Again you need to squeeze out the diesel and leave it under the sun to dry for a little while. Once completely dry you can put the filter back in.
NOTE: Do not wring the AirFilter like a cloth to remove the excess diesel. Just press it from the sides like you would press a sandwich.
NOTE: Ensure that the filter is more than 90% dried off the diesel before putting it back in.

2 lakh seem to be too long a life, especially without an engine overhaul.

Looks like either of / both you guys would be the first ones to let us know the Longevity (in trems of kms clocked) of the P220 engine soon.

2 Lakhs would definitely include engine overhaul(s) when ever required!

There are P220's in Pune that have done more than 50K, this is as told to me by one of the PBK's in Pune that I visited.

Lets see how things go, I'd like to save enuf money to move to something better in a year or two. But the way things are going now, doesn't seem thats likely to happen!

            • Praful, sorry about the incident, but thanks for the tip about the wiring.

I haven't followed this thread to detail. A general question... "Have Bajaj improved the quality of the 220s in course of time?"

I bought my bike about a year and a half ago. Some others like Praful, Payeng, etc. have also purchased the bike the same time too. I believe some of you folks should be able to answer this with clear justifications. Please throw seom light.

Justifying that would be a toughie, but Yes bajaj has improved the 220 in terms of reliability by a fairly large margin!

are you sure you don't have to apply some oil before putting the air filter back in, AFAIK, you need to apply some oil to the filter and then put it back.

We had this discussion on either old xBhp or on Orkut !

PBK advised me not to put oil in the filter!

Have owned just one P220 (from the initial batch) so far.. therefore can't exactly tell the difference between the initial and current batches. But from what I have heard / read and come across, the present owners seem to a satisfied lot.

                          • I better tape up those wires too. Although mine is 5 months old, better to be safe than sorry.
